Player Ratings

Can someone explain to me, how the same experience results in completely opposite ratings?

LF doesn't need to be a great fielder CF does. He does not have the range error or arm for a CF but does for LF. 87 is not a high LF score. 200 just means he fully knows the position even if he is not great at it.

Ah, thank you. Indeed, raising OF Arm/Range immediately results in a significant rating increase for center field.

While I was aware that CF needs a stronger arm, I wouldn't have expected the rating difference to be that high. Thanks again!

YW. Your game, your rules, just wondering why you are making Bo into a CF? Although he did play 88 games there. If you import a player with their career fielding he would have the ability to play all 3 OF spots. I have Bo on my Top 25 team, and plays CF sometimes in place of Lance Johnson vs LHP.
Also if you are playing historical with 1 yr recalc he will gain the ability to play CF better in 1987. He played more CF in 1990 then LF.

Oh no, .Not my intention at all. I just checked him out and noticed the 200 XP for centerfield (this is default) and wondered about the low rating. I only raised the Arm/Range temporarily to see if that indeed would increase his rating.

As for the general strategy: I'm playing a 1988 Dodgers season while doing some fantasy transfers. I always was a sucker for Bo as a kid, so I needed to get him. Currently my only other CF is Mike Deveraux who is a rather poor batter.

For LF I have Kirk Gibson, so no way Bo is gonna play there. Maybe it is a possibility to have him learn RF - which is currently played by Mike Marshall, who could be moved to 1B or traded away. But not sure how effective Bo is in LF with 0 XP.

And thanks for the idea with the 1 year recalc - I might actually start the league over again (not even in spring training yet as you can see).
