Whenever I'm bored I go to the baseball-reference frivolities page. It has an Elo rater, player connections, and other, well, frivolities to keep me occupied.
Scrolled down and found this:
Link to Baseball-Reference Player Pages | Baseball-Reference.com
Type your players, one on each line, and select "Replace name with baseball-reference playerIDs". Press submit and the playerIDs will all be there. From here you can copy them into Excel, add the years in the next column over, and save as a CSV.
Of course, if you're using BB-ref to choose which years to import, you could just copy the ID anyway. But this saves you an extra step or fifty.
P.S. Hope I'm not the second to post this here.
