Season 17 - 2035 - General Discussion
Figured I'd start the PTv1 season 17 thread.
Getting interesting with so many folks getting into v2... the AH in 19 is looking pretty ghostly. And apologies to a couple teams in P419... didn't intend on monopolizing the NC East like this. First time I've ever had all three teams in the same conference let alone the same division! For those of you still active in v1 let's hear how things are looking! CHEERS! |

Sidewinders are looking tentative in the early going, starting 6-11 in their first season in Diamond. On the bright side, I think someone decided to give a gift to those of us not moving to 20 right away, as AH is not looking nearly as bad as it has been, there's nearly a whole page of perfects now and some really interesting high end Diamonds and golds.

(And thanks! PT has kinda killed the AUNZBL, I think, as the free time I had that was going towards that is now pretty much all chewed up by PT )

Well, the Hoggs' offense is definitely sputtering to start the season, as is evidenced by Luis Aparicio having the most homers of anyone in the team, with 4

Raccoons (who have won a diamond division for three straight years) are absolute worst in their diamond league: 8-24 with an active 12-game losing streak, during which they have scored 22 runs total.
Awesoooome.

The Hoggs are competitive but only middle of their division - we're 36-34 atm.
Last night I added Phil Rizzuto and was pleasantly surprised to find (this morning as it seems to take some time for ratings and past season stats to show up) that he was already fully trained at 2B, which has given me some interesting decisions to make regarding where he plays (Nellie Fox is my incumbent 2B, and Aparicio is at SS, while Simmons had been my super utility but is now on the reserve roster). And this morning I picked up rookie Aaron Judge, who has power and a great eye and will improve my outfield defense against RHP. He replaces Paul Waner, who found himself back on the roster when I sold Al Kaline and Carl Furillo.

I will confirm that Phil Rizzuto is a beastly 2nd baseman (like 1.1+ EFF seasons on a routine basis).
As for my Sidewinders, the Diamond league debut has been a strange and confusing journey. Despite leading the conference in Defensive efficiency and BABIP, my leading defenders Rizzuto, Vukovich, Maddox and Fernandez are actually struggling in the field, way out of line with their historic production. Our pitching staff has been merely serviceable despite our defensive advantage and the offense has been doing that thing where they don't hit the ball. So the results aren't very encouraging: 32-41 thru 6/21. All that aside, it could be possible the Sidewinders will have an above .500 month in June, going 11-8 so far, which would be nice and could help keep us treading water above the relegation zone. |

The Magpies are in the playoff hunt after missing out 2 of last 3 seasons. I was beginning to think that the perfect leagues were getting too tough for a team that can't afford any more upgrades. Meanwhile, my F2P has made it to diamond and has a sizeable lead in their division suggesting that one day soon my F2P team will reach perfect, too. Did you see the feeding frenzy of the perfects? Someone unloaded a bunch of perfects with 20K minimum bid yesterday.

36-44 for the Raccoons, so not in immediate danger anymore, but I doubt that the playoffs are still attainable after that absolute black hole of an April and May.

I've spent the majority of my time in 19 fiddling with my two Indians theme teams, Kennesaw and Point Loma, who are mired in gold and silver ......Meanwhile, my third team the Transylvania Vampires, who I've spent very little time managing, have bitten necks all the way up to Diamond with a mostly silver lineup and some gold and diamond starters.
It's obvious to me that the less managing I do, the better off I'll be lol Last edited by gemini615; 03-28-2019 at 06:42 PM. Reason: typo |

Well, my FTP team has a 2 game lead in their G378 league. I had 7k built up and bought 7 packs.....pulled a 95 OVR Ripken!
He's on the AH now at slightly below the last 5.....hope someone with some PP is a big Ripken fan! I'd keep him as he's good defensively and can hit some but I think a free to play team would be better off with the money as I have A Simmons entrenched there...... edit: Sold already! Man, that will help...... Last edited by mcdog512; 03-28-2019 at 07:21 PM. |

J.D. Martinez had a terrible start to the season… well, he is still terrible (.238 with 16 dingers), but at least netted me 800 RBI with a 10-game RBI streak.

Healy are having a very strong season, 85-58, with a magic number of 8. They went 17-9 in July, 20-7 in August, and are 7-4 so far in September. After years of struggling to get on-base, this season their OBP is 3rd-best, at .335.
The league's dominant team is the Lake Washington Lightbearers. After 11 seasons in perfect, including 5 playoff appearances, they got demoted to diamond last season and went 98-64. They're rolling along even better this season, their division already clinched, their record 101-43. What's more, they're 4 games below their Pythag! They're in my conference, so if I get past the first round of the playoffs I'll likely be facing them.

A long lost season in Tucson is drawing to a close, and despite the 62-81 record, the sidewinders are still playing for something. Granted, you don't get a trophy for avoiding relegation, but for a team that has only known success the morale victory of treading water in Perfect will have to be enough.
Rosterwise, Larry Walker was replaced by Sam Crawford, who I quickly realized would kill me in RF, and after a short trial run of moving Hack Wilson to RF, Pete Rose Sr. has returned to the team. Sam Crawford is probably bumping McGriff from the RHP DH spot next season, but considering performances so far this season, I felt "The Crime Dog" deserved to finish out the season. Bright spots? Patrick Corbin probably needs to be moved to the rotation, but outside him and Vic Raschi the bullpen has been rough. We've also been very successful on the basepaths, which makes it a shame that we just haven't been getting on base. |

Nice to see some people still around here!
I've not been following my Clippers nearly as much since PT 2, but I have been opening packs every time we earn enough PP, but only 1 small upgrade happened due to that so far. With 1 game to go, we're going against Matt's division leader (now co-leader) and we've won the 1st two, the last in dramatic fashion. So if we win, we clinch the division on the last day (this team sure has had a lot of seasons which went down to the wire like this). If we lose, we'll fall at least 1 game short of a WC. Edit: A sweep of the River Devs gave us the division title. Maybe the Clippers will finally win 1 playoff round? We'll see!

It was a crash-and-burn season for the Raccoons in Diamond, ending up fourth in their division with a 75-87 record. That was still a good handful of games away from relegation, so the last few days were rather inconsequential for them.

The Hoggs finished up with 99 wins. By the time I wake up tomorrow I'll know if we're in the Sub-League Series or not
