MLB: The Defunct Saga by SFGiants58
SFGiants started a new thread on the Sportslogos.com forum as a follow up to Project 32. The thread, as the title suggests, contains his takes on defunct MLB teams as well as possible relocations that never happened (Tampa Bay White Sox anyone?).
I decided to do what rjl518 did a while back and post OOTP adaptations of his designs. With that in mind, I take absolutely no credit for any of the designs. I might tweak a few of the designs but as rjl518 said, this is HIS genius. Here is a link to the thread on the Sportslogos forum: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/...s-pt-ii-added/ Last edited by skyballer455; 07-19-2018 at 11:09 PM. |

BTW, it's generally considered good form to get his permission before actually publishing anything based on his work.
But that being said, it is really really good work. |

I agree. I make stuff using art work from the folks over there for my own use all the time. But I would not (knowingly) post it here. A lot of those folks are professional artists and sharing their work in that way is a little rude. But if you ask and they are OK with it that is something else.

By the way rjl518 did post a replay on the Project 32 thread asking for permission but he never got a reply. Lastly, the Boston Braves should be coming tonight. |

I'd probably get permission from the guy before posting. Some of those guys over there can get fairly riled up about using their stuff without permission.

Yeah, as Robo said, it's best to get explicit permission. At the very least, it is courteous to do so.

I, too, would agree --- if the people on Sportslogo.net ever bothered to respond, which they don't seem to do. Frankly, anyone who posts things online and expects it to not be lifted and used elsewhere is naive. As long as the user honestly tried to contact the creator, gives credit to the original creator and doesn't claim the designs as his own, and no money is being made, it seems a minor transgression.

I would add that if the original creator does eventually ask for the stuff to be removed from OOTP's forum, Skyballer455 should do so immediately.

All he did is lost a link. He did nothing even remotely wrong. It would be different had posted the images, or worse made a cap and logo set out of them without asking first. But the day sharing a link to another site becomes a problem the internet is done.

Send him a PM, I sent him one about his template and got a response within 24 hours. Im a regular over there and the guys are actually fairly quick to respond. At the very least, I can ask for you.

I had no idea he was working on these also!
Do you want some help Skyballer455 or should I let you have some fun and credit? Oh and as far as asking permission to do his work. Like some of our great OOTPlayers said above, I did ask for approval and he never replied. Now of course, that doesn't mean that I just went ahead and said "F*** Y**" ill just go ahead and do it anyways." If he ever got back to me and said, "I need you to take my stuff off", I would do so without hesitation, although I would be very disappointed. From what I have heard, the guy is awesome and a great artist, hence his work. As long as we say that we do not take credit for his designs, we should be okay. Yes, me and Skyballer455 have made some tweaks, but did not change anything. I had some people ask me to create some of his work with CURRENT MLB designs, which I refused stating that should be put in a thread of its own. It wasn't part of SFGiants58's ideas. Looking forward to doing some work if Skyballer455 will grant permission for me to get started helping him out.

Also, I didn't expect this thread to become a discussion on getting permission on the internet. I posted a reply to the original thread but SFGiants58 hasn't responded yet. Since I have the first team ready, I'll be posting that shortly. |

I'm still going to create some of that work, but It will be for my personal use in my games and I will not post. I like his WAS Senators, NY Giants, BKN Dodgers among others. Skyballer455, I yield the floor, or in this case, the thread to you!
