Here's my MGR stuff so far. Was signed to Tampa as their manager but cut loose because of bad season. The Owner of Boston offered me Job and I took it. They won the 2003 WS. So I lucked into the job and haven;t left yet.

Going into my fourth season with my beloved Chicago Cubs. In my first year at the helm (2003), we won a weak NL Central with an 87-75 record and ended the 95-year drought by winning the World Series. After coming back from a 3-1 series deficit in the NLCS to beat Philly the North Siders hung on to beat Boston in seven after opening up our own 3-1 series lead. The next year, nothing seemed to click and we wound up 78-84. Luckily, I wasn't canned even though I had only gotten a one-year extension after winning it all in 2003; in fact, I signed a three-year deal to stay with the Cubs after the disappointing '04 campaign. In 2005 we were in the race all year long. The NL Central turned out to be the most competitive div. in the league with Milwaukee, St. Louis and the Cubs battling it out throughout the second half. In the end, a late-season injury to #2 starter Zach Day (15-3, 3.13) proved too costly and we missed the wild card by two games after finishing 91-71. One bright spot was Pedro Martinez winning his second straight Cy Young Award for the Cubbies in 2005 after being signed as a free agent in 2004; he went 19-9 with a 1.89 ERA and 376(!) strikeouts in 242.1 innings. The fact that he lost nine games shows how weak the team was offensively at times.
So far, so good, but we need to get back to the postseason. My fake wife Irene and I have a one-year-old son and I would like to see how/if he develops as a ballplayer, so I'm planning on sticking with this league for a good long while. Overall, I'm 254-225 (.530) and 11-6 in the playoffs. The team chemistry is great (100) and the owner is still in a decent mood (71) and only expects us to play better than .500 this season. I'm regarded as a Good Manager, so if things don't work out after my contract expires in 2007, I should be able to catch on somewhere else.

18 straight playoff appearances with Charlotte in my fictional league and I got tired of managing them so I took on the worst team that was available to rebuild and am now in my second season with them(Washington).

I started a historical career with the '70 Mets.
Record: 2411-1524 Eight championships, made the playoffs the last eleven years, and fifteen out of the last sixteen. Gentry, Seaver, McGraw and McAndrew all made the HOF. Haven't signed a FA yet - build thru the farm system! Both of my sons turned out to be losers - no baseball skills at alll. I guess you can't have it all. |

Just finished my first season in a fictional league with my hometown team, the Irvine Crushers. We got to the WS but lost to the Cypress Red Devils. I've dated 3 girls, and all of them broke up with me. I have no clue why, but they did. The only bad part about our team is that they are injury-prone. Our best player, Tomas "Champagne" Castello, got injured twice last season, one for 4 weeks, and another for 7. Our catcher got injured for the whole season, 2 of our starters got injured, and our first baseman got his teeth knocked out in a bar. But, we muscled our way to the WS, and lost 4 games to 2. I got an extension for another year, so I hope this team won't get injured all that much. By the way, this happened a day after I got hurt myself about 10 times. Wonder if that means anything.....
EDIT: I sim a week into the season, and guess what? My new catcher, Xavier Delmonte, gets injured for the whole season. I have a catcher curse, I guess. Weird.

I am currently half way through my third season in my Manager Mode Career. I spent the first two seasons with Seattle, winning the World Series both years. And then for some odd reason, my Owner elects not to offer me a Extension. I got a offer from three teams: Milwaukke, LA, and San Diego. I decided to sign on with LA, as their team was in the best shape, and they had Barry Bonds. I am not half way through my season with LA, and I am riding high in first place. At the All-Star Break, Barry Bonds currently has 46 Homers. He is only like 10 back from Aaron's Record now. I started my Manager Mode Career as a 27 year old, making myself the youngest Manager in the Bigs. I have had trouble hanging on to a girl though. I was with Erin for 14 Months. I then proposed to her, and she rejected. One day later, she dumped me. A week later I hooked up with Janet. I was able to hold onto her for about a week, and then she dumped me. I am now with Brianna. I have been with her for 7 1/2 months. Once I have been with her for two years, I will propose to her and see what happens. Ill keep you guys updated.

My team just got beaten in the playoff's first round. Oh well, I got an extension. Our ace, Tim Nantz, won the Chris Mallaney award (I name the awards after the last player who won them. Chris Mallaney won the award last year, so he gets it named after him for a year). I just met a girl named Dampsey, who I don't like very much. What kind of a name is Dampsey?

I got fired after my first year...my diary claims it's my fault, but I have to disagree...I can't pitch and hit for my players.
Ah, well. It was a beautiful collapse. I went from 6 games up in the AL Central on August 3 to 3rd place, 79-83, 13 games off the pace. I can certainly see why I'd get fired, after that performance. On the bright side, my reputation rose to "Very Inexperienced." THAT should draw some offers.  --Eriq.

i lived 10 years with San Francisco... and removed myself realizing i forgot to sign up 3/4 of my player
and had 5 child with 2 wifes... but 4 girl... /: its kinda easy when you have a patient owner... but gets much harder when you have a bad owner and small crowd at games

as i read through the stats people sent, most of them that won often the WS are those with VERY high fan base, and tons of money.....
try doing this with 60 mil income, you'll realize its quite harder :P

I have just started my 18th year as manager. Spent three years with NYA and got fired after finishing the last year with 50 wins. Spent 7 productive years with Oakland won the WS 4 times, and signed on with a rebuilding Minnesota and am in my last year (8th overall) of my contract, turning around this perenniel loser and winning 2 WS. After this season I am leaving for another losing squad to see if I can rebuild them. Thats the best part of this game.

My personal best (which is ongoing) is 8 years ... Went to playoffs 5 of the 8, won the WS 1 time..
Historical with Fantasy draft and Historical Ammy Draft... Started 1901, added 4 new teams (2 AL, 2 NL) still single divisions. Very Hard Trading-Normal, also on Very Difficult for Managing Mode...

Seattle Mariners - starting my 20th season as manager
My apologies for no screen print... I'm having a sizing issue
I started my managerial career in 2003 with the Yankees. Unfortunately they gave their very talented team to a very inexperienced manager and GM at the time, and after 4 sub par seasons with a testy owner, I was fired. (and it took them about 20 years to become a contender again!) In 2007 I signed on with Philadelphia, and lasted 6 seasons with them, still learning and doing my best with the little cash they had available. Then in 2013 I was courted by a team with a budding farm system, ample FA money to spend, and an owner who had an reputation as a Very Nice Guy - the Seattle Mariners. I have built my teams around truly dominant pitching staffs, usually leading the league in all team pitching categories.. one year I had the 1,2 and 3 guys in lowest ERA ..I have been quite successful, enough so that I am about to embark on my 20th season with the club. Stats: Career regular season record to date 2566-2296 (.528), reputation of GREAT MANAGER 20 seasons with Seattle..playoffs 11 times..8 division titles., playoff record 52-56, I went to the Series 4 times, winning it once in 2028. I was given 2 year deals every time except twice - a 3 year deal the year after I won the Series, and a 5 year deal (my current contract) after I became a GREAT MANAGER. We're on a bit of a decline now... many 90+ win seasons left me with mediocre draft picks, having to resort to trading for practically all my prospects.. but the overall poor farm system is starting to catch up with us.. and I'm coming off of a .500 season... I've only gone 2 consecutive seasons without making the playoffs though.. |

last night i was playing my Red Sox in the 1900s.... was on my 12th season, with an amazing record of 115 win in a season, in average difficulty...
managed to get a few VERY good player from the start, and never had to look back for the next 12 years... usually traded my player before they reach their FA status (unless they were VERY good, like that 5 time in 6 years in major Cy Young Winner). had a strong farm, always trading very good player for very good prospect, and 4 starter all winning 25+ games a years... after 12 years, i did a mistake.. wanted to sign for less years, but couldnt do it... so ended up with Texas.... ugh

I lucked out with my owner, the Very Nice Guy, who has hardly ever asked of me to be better than .500 each season... only once or twice has he asked me to reach the postseason.
