Who is a good catcher to use on a sub 3k budget? - Page 2

Mike Lieberthal is having his best year to date for me in Perfect League this season. Platooning with Bob Boone through 124 games Lieberthal is hitting .270 with 14HR and 54RBI. Boone not so great .182 5HR and 20RBI.

I'm only in Silver league and my BEST catcher is hitting .178. The other just had a five game hitting streak and RAISED his average to .106...

Although I did try Austin Hedges on my theme team for a 10-game sample and he tore the cover off the ball with good defensive results (.333, 2 HR, and 50% CS, 3.42 CERA). Small sample, I know, but promising. It's the best I've seen a catcher perform since I started playing PT.

Schnozz Lombardi is in his 11th season for my Hampton Roads Ironclads and has been great. He's been the all-star Catcher 7 of his 11 seasons and put up 4 Platinum sluggers. A 162 game season for him is .289, 37 doubles and 19 HRs for 4.0 WAR.

Can't remember what I paid for him, likely around 5k now showing as his average price. I haven't actually seen him on another team, so quite rare for me. I look for him for my other 2 teams and never see him listed.

I just saw John(?) Stearns for 1200 and picked him up. A bit pricey, but with my woes I need a boost. I'm struggling to get a catcher to hit .130...this is epically bad. Hopefully stearns works with Hedges or Davis platooning. I'm trying Hedges first for the power and when Davis' 14 days ineligible are up I'll swap them out and see who works best. Wish me luck lol

SMH Just missed out on a Mike Sciosca start bid 3k BIN 6K with average sale at 3600. I bid 4300 thinking it was a lock and someone else actually paid the BIN of 6...it tied the highest price ever for the card IIRC.

Now I'm stuck with Hedges and Davis

Sometimes its just a matter of timing. I bought Scioscia for one of my teams this past Wednesday for a BIN price of 2.6k. Be patient and watch for a reasonable BIN price for a catcher upgrade.
