The Baseball Chronicle
The Baseball Chronicle is now using OOTP 14!
The Baseball Chronicle is a long-running league using fictional players in a real-world historical universe that began in 1871 and is now in the early 20th century (1913). TBC is now on its sixth version of OOTP having originally started back with OOTP 9. GMs (and non-GM followers of the leagues) are encouraged to create their own players (either "ancestors" or simply made-up guys) on the TBC website. Here are the cogent points in list form: Full League Name (Initials): The Baseball Chronicle (TBC) Main URL: The Baseball Chronicle Reports URL: BNN Home Page Boards URL: The Baseball Chronicle Commissioner(s) OOTP Forum Username(s): legendsport Email Address: commish@legendsport.com OOTP Version: 14 Game Needed: Required Players: Fictional players in Historical setting # of Teams: 16 (will expand based on MLB History) Export Deadlines Days And Times: Monday thru Friday 5:30 am ET League Time Per Sim: 1/2 month (15 or 16 days per sim) First Season: 1871 Latest Season: 1913 Special Rules & Settings: This is a talent-only league. Coaches are on, scouts are off. We'll attempt to mimic the Reserve Clause era with financials on, no free agency, no rookie draft. The top-level minors (PCL, IL and AA) are in the game, but independent with mechanisms in place for the MLB teams to be able to draw from these leagues. Plans are in place to add a second-tier of minor league teams (date TBD) and the Negro Leagues as well (in 1920). Currently Available Teams: MLB: Giants, Phillies, Browns and Tigers The Baseball Chronicle attempts to model, as closely as possible, real baseball history with fictional players. We use special rules for player procurement and will include things such as the Federal League, both World Wars, and the gradual development of the farm system in our march through history. TBC is an homage not only to great OOTP 6.5 leagues such as Time Warp Baseball and PBRL, but also to baseball history itself. Who will be TBC's "Babe Ruth" or "Ted Williams?" Join in and find out, it's going to be a great ride. About the TBC Commissioner: The commish has years of experience running OOTP leagues going back to OOTP 2 the most successful of which was Greatest Generation Baseball which ran for 20 seasons, covering versions 4 thru 6.5 of the sim. Other long-running leagues included the 20th Century Chronicle, a season-per-week league that ran the 1901-2000 seasons and BaTTY which was similar to 20CC but scrambled debut dates. All three were long-running, successful leagues and some of the GMs from those leagues (as well as some TWB & PBRL vets) are signed on for TBC. TBC was also featured by BradC in the "Articles about OOTP" section of the OOTP boards, here.

With the switch to OOTP 14, The Baseball Chronicle has four openings as we start off-season prep for the 1913 season.
In the NL the New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies are available. In the AL, the St. Louis Browns and Detroit Tigers are available. If you'd like more info you can PM me here. To sign up, you can complete the simple GM application form, which will let you choose your team.

The Browns have also been claimed. One team in each league remains available (Phillies in the NL and Tigers in the AL).

The Baseball Chronicle has four openings as we prepare for the 1917 season.
The Phillies, Indians, Browns and Senators are all available. Cleveland actually won the pennant on AI control last season (they lost the World Series), so they have a good team. The others are of varying talent but none of them are horrible. If you're interested in any of these openings, please PM me here or submit through the sign-up form on the website. The Baseball Chronicle Thanks!

I run the Dodgers in this league, and I can wholeheartedly recommend the league. It's now the only OOTP league I participate in. Joe's league are always extremely well run, and to be able to actively participate in the simulation of baseball history from the beginning is quite fun. We are on the verge of leaving the Dead Ball era and moving into the Roaring 20s--things are about to get really interesting.

Overview of the Available Teams
Cleveland Naps
As Joe mentioned, Cleveland won the American League pennant last season. They have one of the best pure hitters of the game in RF Abe Badger (.352 in 1916) and a young phenom in pitcher Hy Bailey (27-11, 1.85), who just won both the 1916 Rookie of the Year and Pitcher of the Year awards. Washington Senators Washington finished 1916 at 83-71, 8 games behind Cleveland. There are some good players here to build around--OF Dennis Clinton led the majors in home runs in 1916. The St. Louis Browns Wow, so the Browns need some serious TLC. The loss totals for the past 5 seasons: 99, 101, 88, 99, 98. A single winning season in the past 8. This would be a good project for someone who enjoys building from the ground up. Philadelphia Phillies The Phillies have also been also rans for a while, but they don't have nearly as dark of a history as the Browns. They still have one of the best short stops in the game in Eddie Chiles and a good, young catcher in Harold Lanier.
