Main Event

WW - Jack Britton (1/1) (22-3-6) and Peter Jackson (6/3) (26-6-2) fought to a 12 round draw and will face each other again next month in another IBF title eliminator. The commissioner (me) pushed the event to next month since neither fight was cut or knocked down in hopes to get the title bout in before the end of the year. The winner will face Charley Hitte (24-11) in the title bout.

Britton seemed to do enough to win this fight with Jackson even being penalized a point. I had it 115-113 for Britton but the official judges saw it 114-112/113-113/112-114.

Regional Title

HW - George Godfrey (14/14) (29-15-3) scored a TKO8 over Sunny Jim (30/40) (12-5-2) (pre)to defend his AABU title for the 3rd and final time. With the new rule that you can't have 40 fights and still hold the title, the commissioner (me) vacated the title after the fight.

Godfrey controlled the fight from the start. Then Jim suffered a bad cut on his forehead that worsened until the ref stopped the fight in the 8th. I had it 68-65 at the stoppage.

Other Notables

BW - Hugh McGovern (18/17) (13-6-6) scored a KO3 over John Connors (57/60) (9-8-4) (pre). They split the first two rounds before a right uppercut finished the fight

MW - Charley Johnson (club) (11-14-2) scored a KO7 over Al Grayber (UR) (8-1) to stop Grayber's undefeated record. Johnson was ahead 58-57 on my scorecard when he Ko'd Grayber.

Other Fights

MW - George Gunther (39/30) (17-6-1) DQ7 Bob Turnball (27/35) (16-3-1) (gunther at pre, moved to prime)

LW - Kid McPartland (76/66) (22-20-4) TKO7 Eddie Connolly (96/99) (12-14-2)

I just noticed that Jess Willard is 6-0, I hadn't known that he began. These next five years or so should really add a lot to your universe Mike.

Yeah Dempsey comes in in 1913 I think and Benny Leonard is already in the beginners. So good fighters coming into the LBA to mix with the ones already there. Harry Wills is in the beginners still I think.

McAllister has a fight this month by the way. He isn't the main event due to my new format but he will always be on a fight card.

Damn, tough break for Dempsey on that earlier fight card well at least he's still ranked second so hopefully he can win a fight and get himself a title shot.

Main Event

LW - Jack McAuliffe (2/2) (38-7-2) scored a late knockdown to win a SD12 over Freddie Welsh (5/7) (19-7-1) to move on in the WBO title tourney.

McAuliffe came out fast winning the first four rounds before Welsh settled in and started taking a few back. Welsh managed to almost even up the fight before being dropped in the 11th. Welsh rallied to win the 12th round. There were no cuts or swelling.

I had it 115-113 for McAuliffe. The official judges had it 113-115/115-113/116-111

Regional Title

MW - Jake Ahearn (9/5) (16-0-1) scored a MTD10 over Denny Harrington (UR) (13-1) to retain his CBU MW title.

Ahearn took control of the middle rounds after splitting the first 4. Harrington suffered a cut over his right eye in the 3rd that was caused by a butt. Finally the ref stopped it midway through the 11th.

I had it 97-93 Ahearn. The official judges had it 96-94/95-95/96-94.

Other Fights

HW - James Jeffries (26/23) (41-11) KO4 Ben Taylor (129/129) (11-14-2)

MW - Peter Newton (UR) (12-2) KO4 Frank Burke (52/58) (11-5-1) (both at pre, Burke stepped up to MW for this fight)

FW - David Morgan (73/68) (13-10-2) SD10 Danny McMahon (62/72) (13-6) (mcmahon at pre, moved to prime)

FW - Tommy Dixon (UR) (10-0) UD8 Leo Dobbins (club) (7-15-2) (both at pre in this club fight, Dixon moved to main, Dobbins moved to prime)

Main Event

BW - Dave Sullivan (5/3) (22-3-1) hammered Billy Plimmer (3/5) (25-15-6) in route to a TKO10 win and will move on to fight Monte Atttell for the IBF BW title in November.

Sullivan dominated this fight from the 4th round on, after fighting pretty even in the first 3 rounds. He dropped Plimmer in the 5th and both of Plimmer's eyes started swelling then also. He cut Plimmer over the right eye in the 7th, then dropped him twice in the 9th and again in the 10th. Finally the ref stopped the fight.

I had it 89-81 at the stoppage.

Regional Title

FW - Cal McCarthy (7/7) (20-6) destroyed Mississippi (UR/16) (12-1-2) (pre) scoring a TKO12 to retain the USBA FW title. It was McCarthy's first defense of the title.

McCarthy dropped Mississippi in the first. Mississippi was cut over both eyes, both eyes were swollen almost shut, the cuts were reopened 6 times and then he was dropped again in the 12th. I had it 100-98 at the stoppage.

Other Notables

BW - Jimmy Walsh (9/6) (15-12-5) won his 5th straight fight with a UD12 over Al Delmont (7/11) (23-11-7). Walsh jumped out to an early lead. Delmont battled back to make it a close fight in the middle rounds before Walsh won the last 3 rounds. I had it 115-113. The official judges had it 115-114/115-113/115-113.

LH - Bob McCallister (15/11) (17-2) scored a UD10 over John Cavanagh (8/12) (11-3-2) (pre) to move up close to the top 10. Cavanagh was down in the 3rd round and never won a round on my scorecard. I had it 100-89. The official judges had it 99-89/100-88/99-89.

Other Fights

HW - Ned Kelly (123/111) (10-11-1) SD10 Billy Cadman (77/112) (6-7-5) (both at pre, kelly moved to prime)

MW - Mike Donovan (61/50) (26-19-5) UD10 Jack Bonner (41/52) (23-19-1) (Bonner at post)

Here's hoping McAllister hits prime before moving too far up the rankings again!
