jg2977, you have a nice format... I really like the way you show how many division titles the division winner has... that's a nice touch.

Thank you. When a playoff series is completed, I also enjoy showing how many times a team has advanced to the LCS, IPA Pro Cup Series, and IPA Pro Cup wins.

The past few years have been very exciting. 4 out of the past 5 seasons have featured new Pro Cup Champions - Marston Nine, North Hills Hawks, Ancona Jumbos and Elnora Clippers.

I will play out the 1947 playoffs once I finish my current NHL season.

Thanks CD, will do!

About a month ago you proposed a realignment idea that I liked. 10 teams to a division is a lot. I'd like to get more teams in the playoffs without adding wild cards, so having 8 divisions of 5 teams each in both subleagues would accomplish that. Maybe you can help propose a realignment setup?

Actually, I proposed, I believe, dividing teams up into at least three or four major leagues with two subleagues apiece, with a maximum of 24 teams per major league, in a promotion-relegation sort of framework, or in a minor league-type setup under one single major league. That's if I remember correctly enough, but I'd have to check my posts about that kind of thing to be sure, it seems.

When and if I ever get my non-public IPA/public EBF up and running and advancing, I plan to do either of those things in certain dynasties, if not both. That's if I can do so and all, of course. I have planned for at least 96 teams to be present in such frameworks, if not at least 120 in them.

In your case, if you might want to do the same kind of things, seeing as you currently have 80 teams to work with, I would suggest you break things up into four different leagues with two subleagues that have two divisions apiece. Twenty teams in each league, ten in each subleague, five in each division, and cut out interleague play and the DH, so as to make things much more interesting and exciting, and to build up tension leading to the Pro Cup series at the end of the year. No real excitement and no real difference is generated by seeing teams in the other league during the regular season except during the All-Star Break, in my opinion, like it was decades ago. No real mystery, either, I think, as well.

These are just some of my thoughts here. Feel free to take them as you wish or not, of course, jg2977. It may take some work to reconfigure your version of the IPA's setup, though. So please don't forget to back up what you have, before you begin to potentially do so, for obvious reasons. That's all for this post here, then, I think. CD out.

I'd rather not do promotion/relegation. A little bit too complicated for what I want. I'll look at the IPA map and try to split up the divisions accordingly.

I take it you've made up a version of it for yourself, one which is at least a little bit different than what EC may currently have for his, then. I've been posting various basic maps related to Eudagero in my thread, or editing them, as the case may be here, so far. But I don't have high-quality physical or any other kind of maps made for Eudagero and/or surrounding areas made yet, to be sure, unfortunately. Either by me or someone else around here, that is.

Maybe someday I'll have better-quality maps related to Eudagero and/or any of my other fictional lands, somehow. But if I never do, then so be it. CD out.

You could always add a northeast, northwest, southwest and southeast division to the already existing north south East and west divisions

Or turn the IPA into an association with multiple leagues in it, if possible, instead. That way the leagues could be smaller, and he could set up association playoffs each league's champions could play in to decide the overall winner of the Pro Cup.

Having 16 teams in one overall league's playoff setup seems to be way too many, if you have leagues that have 64 or more teams in them, for a season. Or as few as 28 or 30 teams in them. Best to keep the playoff contenders fewer, for challenge's sake, at least, I think. Especially with seasons that last at least 100 to 120 games, if not more. Big playoff fields minimize the excitement of the postseason, if not also the entire regular season as well, in my view.

Consider how exciting the World Series often was prior to the Expansion Era, where only the best teams got in, meaning the league winners only. Most of the best World Series ever played were pre-Expansion and pre-DH World Series, for sure. Certainly there were some dynasties that were dominant for a while, especially from the Yankees, but I don't think there was very much boredom around when it came to the World Series or All-Star Game, back in that era of MLB history, compared to a lot of World Series or postseasons since then.

Especially seeing as you never saw interleague play in that era, except at certain times of the calendar year, perhaps including Spring Training, the various All-Star Games and World Series most likely were much more intense and exciting than many of the ASG's and WS's that have occurred in the years betwen then and now. That is something that baseball has been lacking now for decades, even when the Expansion Era is considered here, for sure.

There don't need to be leagues with odd numbers of divisions that require wildcard teams in the postseason. Granted, at least one time in the current century, the Cardinals won a World Series as a wildcard team, if I remember correctly, and other wildcard teams have won titles as well, since wildcards were allowed in the postseason. But it's still not a good thing to have wildcards in the postseason, in my view. Others may disagree with me here, of course, but that's fine with me.

These are just a few thoughts from me here about things like this. Please feel free to take them or not as you each will. Whether you agree with them or not, of course, please feel quite free to do so. as you like and can, within fair and just reason and all here, folks. CD out.

I could do that. Although with too many divisions it may add more confusion. I've been considering just scrapping the divisions all together and just having the top 8 regular seasons teams qualifying for the postseason. I can still count all teams' playoff appearances.

It would make it more fair overall that way. I've had plenty of seasons where a second place team missed the playoffs with a 110-win season, but a team with 90 wins finished first in another division. And the way that OOTP makes the schedule, it's balanced, which makes divisions completely pointless all together.
