Hi Mike.
Is there any chance of you posting a 'word' file of all the active/retired Heavyweights that have passed through your uni. Just trying to make sure none pass through the net. Cheers Tom |

Johnson lost his second fight on 05-07-1900 with a UD10 to Peter Jackson ... he then won 33 straight (second longest winning streak in the LBA) before losing by KO13 to Joe Jeannette on 08-21-1909. So he went 9 years between his first two loses.
Then one year later on 08-14-1910 he lost a SD15 to James Corbett. |

I'd say he has to be favored. If I remember he took a little ratings hit when he jumped to MW. He didn't lose a WW fight. If Dillon keeps winning he may step up to LHW for a superfight to try and protect his longest winning streak.

Has Stagg faced anyone beyond stiffs? I wouldn't give him much of a shot if any at nabbing a belt.

No he hasn't but the way I choose the challenger for regional belts is the highest PP total of guys scheduled to fight. So it will be a lot of young guys who haven't faced anyone. Also remember they are out of the regional group rankings as soon as they hit 30 fights unless they are the champ.

According to my new plan there were 5 Fridays and 5 Saturdays in Sept. 1911, so there will only be 10 cards this month.
There are 105 fights still remaining so 45 will be scheduled in the autoscheduler and quick simmed. |

September 1st, 1911
Sam Langford (CH) (30-6-2) scored a KO7 over EBU regional Champ Paul Samson-Korner (11/18) (18-2) (pre) to retain the WBA HW title. Langford's WBC and IBF titles were not on the line.
Langford controlled the fight from the opening bell as Samson-Korner was too green for this fight. I had it 59-56 at the stoppage. Notable undercard fights saw Bill Squires (111/72) (15-17-1) score a KO 9 over Gunboat Smith (19/58) (15-1) (pre) to put a first loss on the prospect. Smith never showed up for the fight as I had it 79-72 at the stoppage. Smith plummets in the rankings. Also WBA MW champ Frank Klaus (CH) (22-6-1) scored a UD10 over Larry Temple (61/61) (16-7-3) in a non title bout. Klaus dominated the fight cutting Temple and knocking him down twice. I had it 98-90. The official judges saw it 97-90/98-89/98-91. Other fights WW - Dal Hawkins (47/39) (16-14-1) MD10 Jimmy Clabby (59/64) (8-10-8) FW - George Moore (64/59) (13-8-5) UD10 Young Byrnes (84/club) (9-14-2) (byrnes drops to club) HW - Bob Armstrong (79/36) (27-14-5) TKO3 Tommy Burns (21/44) (25-10-2) (armstrong gets himself back in the mix with the win) |

Thanks, Jeff

It's their pre-bout ranking so Armstrong was ranked 79th before the fight and jumped to 36th following his win if I'm not mistaken. Tough loss for Gunboat Smith there that really hurt him.
