This was Brad's fifth Gold Glove at 2B, which is #4 on the all-time 2B chart:

Gold Gloves by Second Base
12 - Maurice Woodson STL 2B (1909-1920)*
10 - Kevin Stines STL 2B (1922-26, 1928-29, 1931-33)
8 - Genaro Nunez BOS 2B (1919-25, 1928)
5 - Brad Coffenberger BKN 2B (1937 , 1939-42)

* this assumes Woodson would have won the "missing" 1918 award.

> Shortstop: Hal Dumais, PIT

Hal won the 1938 Gold Glove for NL 3B, so this make him join a select list:

Gold Glove Awards At Two Positions

Chris Jennings - RF 1904-05 / LF 1908
Stirling LaFreniere - RF 1901 / C 1912
Ray Brown - CF 1910-17, 1920-21 / LF 1924
Tike Kaufman - 1B 1926-28, 1932 / 3B 1933
Hal Smith - CF 1934 / RF 1937-39, 1942
Hal Dumais - 3B 1938 / SS 1942

He's the first to do it at a combination of the "fielder" positions in the IF - 2B, SS and 3B. Kinda cool.

> Centerfield: Dave Arkless, CHN - 2 straight!

This is Dave's 7th Gold Glove in CF, which moves up to #2 all-time for the position behind HOF Candidate Ray Brown:

Gold Gloves by Centerfield
10 - Ray Brown PIT CF (1910-17, 1920-21)
7 - Dave Arkless CHN CF (1927, 1929, 1932-33, 1937, 1941-42)
6 - Joe Campbell CLE CF (1934-35, 1937, 1939-41)
5 - Montey Lawley WSH CF (1902, 1904, 1910-11, 1917)

Joe Campell bagged his sixth in 1941 as did Arkless.

We've had eight years where at least one of the leagues has had a team with both the BOY and POY. It happened 16 times from 1901-1934, and now has happened 11 times from 1935-42, including double sweeps in 1935, 1937 and 1938.

BOY & POY From The Same Team

1901 AL MIL* - Bob Ancona & Raymond Gindler
1903 NL PHI** - Lavon Arave & Mark Krosser
1904 AL WSH - Montey Lawley & Dave McBean
1907 AL CLE* - Whiskey Allen & Patrick De Leon
1914 NL STL** - Maurice Woodson & Tim Lopresto & Jeffrey Roland
1915 AL CHA - Jed Burke & Andrew Murphy
1916 AL CHA - Jed Burke & Andrew Murphy
1921 NL NYG** - Jared Jarry & Johnny Franklin
1922 AL DET - Charles Hagaman & Abe Swift
1924 AL PHA - Ben Baum & Ahrend Nagel
1924 NL BKN - Jesse Passwater & Johnny Swinson
1925 AL PHA* - Ben Baum & Ahrend Nagel
1926 AL PHA* - Ben Baum & Ahrend Nagel & Jay Fiering
1927 NL PHI** - John Falise & Scott Fenner
1930 NL BKN - Oscar Vancini & Frank Smith
1932 NL PHI** - Willard Schwarz & Scott Fenner
1935 AL NYA** - Ervin Skjerly & Luke Riley
1935 NL BKN* - Jonathan Wright & Frank Smith
1936 AL WSH - Carl Kahle & Jethro Lee
1937 AL WSH** - Carl Kahle & Jethro Lee
1937 NL BKN - Oscar Vancini & Frank Smith
1938 AL NYA - Jimmy Ditty & Art Booth
1938 NL BKN - Oscar Vancini & Frank Smith
1939 NL BKN** - Oscar Vancini & Frank Smith
1940 NL BKN* - Jeff Bundy & Frank Smith
1941 AL WSH** - Blake Crocitto & Jethro Lee
1942 AL NYA - Ping Hung & Art Booth

* = Won pennant
** = Won World Series

The 1914 Cardinals (with Maurice Woodson, Tim Lopresto and Jeffrey Roland) and 1926 A's (with Ben Baum, Ahrend Nagel and Jay Fiering) are the only teams to sweep the BOY, POY and ROY in one year.

I think John is one of the big reasons why this thread is so much fun, and why that when we go live, it's going to be even better!

Curiosity... I would imagine that all the spots are filled by now for when this league goes live. Is there a waiting list or something that we can get on?... I'm really interested in getting involved with this thing.

I'm sorry if this has already been brought up, but I am relatively new here and I would prefer to not have to go wading through almost 100 pages of posts to find this.

There is a waiting list that Matt is taking down.

Count me on it... if possible... Otherwise let me know what I need to do to get on it.

Haha... true, true... I've gotten through a decent amount. However while reading it, I'd prefer to not have to look for a waiting list, and be able to focus on that good stuff.

Have you contributed ancestors? If not, sign them up, it's nearly as much fun as running a team. Also, once we go live we'll only be 15 years from expansion.

Great point... Basic expansion rules can be found in this link... There was 1 person on the waiting list, and after adding you two, there are 3... All 16 GM's just answered a recent roll call, so all teams are full... We go-live in 1946 & the first expansion sees the Angels & new Senators (Rangers) added in 1961 followed by the Colt 45's and Mets in 1962... I have not decided (and probably won't until we get closer to expansion) but current TWB owners may get first shot at taking an expansion team...

If you can be contacted by me PM'ing you here, that's all I need... If not, pm me your email addy & I'll use that to contact you in case of an opening.

Hey Matt, I know this is an OOTP5 league. Can I still be a GM if I have OOTP6? I should be #1 on the wait list, and I'd like to be sure I can play. Thanks.

No, this is an ootp6 league... I converted to 6 way back in the late 20's or early 30's I think... Yes, you're #1 on the waiting list... I posted a list on the TWB forums.

Rules have not yet changed: limit is 3 ancestors per last name per generation. I will continue taking ancestors throughout history.

I have 26 or 27 added, over 4 generations, with 6 or 7 different last names
Does that answer your question?

Dang, it looks like Em Pelto didn't progress much this season. He had a good season in AA, but he's 22, and went BACK a level this season.

On the other hand, he hit more homers than he ever had (19) and his OPS was a career-best .814. You'd like to think Em could make a lousy club like the Phillies are right now. Maybe that's why the Phillies are lousy.

Virgil Lusk doesn't look like the answer behind the plate for the Phils, so perhaps Em might get a chance at the job. If he does, he'll need to hit better than .158...

1943 Update

I know it's been a while since I posted the 1942 WS results, but I have been working on the TWB every day since. It takes a lot of maintenance, mainly because the players at war that I put on the DL, get removed & their injury time deleted, so I have to redo all of them from previous seasons before determining the players who leave in the current year.

On top of that, I think the players at war still count when ootp6 uses league totals to determine which players get what kind of stats. That then thins out how many HR's, hits, etc there are to go around. So, I have to do some more testing before determining what totals to use for the season.

However, the webpages have been updated for your enjoyment. You can view the latest players to go off to war in this link.

I'm giving the 1943 HOF thread until tomorrow & hopefully then I will have more of the league ready so some 1943 updates should be appearing then.

Wow! That's a lot of players heading off to fight! Didn't realize each team would be hit so hard.
