August 12, 1911

After loses to Fitzsimmons, McCoy and Klaus in title bouts, Billy McCarthy (7/4) (30-14-4) finally wins a title. He scored a KO13 over aging George Lablanche (9/9) (24-19-5) (post) to win the vacant WBC title.

This was a fairly close bout as Lablanche started throwing bombs when he realized he couldn't box McCarthy. McCarthy won the first 3 rounds then I had it even the rest of the way.

Both were carrying their hands low and the knockout in the 13th was the only knockdown.

I had it 116-113.

On the undercard

WW - Tommy West (17/15) (18-8-2) TKO5 Tom Meadows (41/47) (11-7) 39-38 (meadows at pre, moved to prime)

I really like Tommy West (basically because he's good in my universe). Could you give me more information about his status in the LBA? I've been reading up on this Universe and am following it with huge interest! Great job i must say. For this universe i've always been a fan of Tommy Ryan.

he is 18-8-2 with 13 KO's. Just recently went to prime. Lost 3 straight figths before this last win. He is 0-3 in title fights. Lost a very winnable title bout while he was pre prime to Honey Mellody. He was totally overmatched against Joe Gans. Then lost a tech decision in a regional title bout to Ted Kid Lewis.

Currently 15th. Biggest wins a SD10 over Dixie Kid. KO4 over Kyle Whitney. TKO10 over Young Peter Jackson was he biggest by far. Knocking Jackson down 3 times.

After a slow start, Dave Smith (UR) (12-1) battered Les O'Donnell (31/42) (12-6-1) over the second half of the fight to win a UD12 and defend his CBU title for the second time.

Smith lost 3 of the first 5 rounds and then won the 6th round big with O'Donnell's right eye starting to swell. He then dropped the challenger in the 8th and cruised to an easy win.

I had it 117-110, (RE) Tom Trunzo had it 118-109. All the official judges scored it 117-110 also.

On the undercard

LH - Ralf Boehm (UR) (2-4-1) UD12 Werner Zweigel (UR) (3-5) (both at pre, both TC's, Boehm wins the EBU regional title)

This month has gone a bit slow due to the fact that I'm currently enjoys FOF 2007 ... I swore I'd never go back to this franchise but this version is very very solid. Enjoying the hell out of it, but like most games I will be burnt out soon and come back full time to my uni!!!!

Sounds like my Fantasy Horse Racing fetish and my evolving International Test Cricket fascination. My problem is that I don't get bored very easily, I try to not get involved with too many games because I can never put them down.

(OOTP 2007 seems to have been an exception)

I did not purchase OOTP because I just didn't feel like I would be able to devote any time to it ... now with the hot stove jumping off I get the itch again. I'd like to see them somehow incorporate rumors and rumblings into the winter months into the game, that's one of my favorite parts of baseball.

I will pick up the next version though. I always come back to boxing and right now I'm doing both boxing and football. Never enough time in the day to play as much as I want.

Johnny Kilbane (CH) (21-2-1) was knocked down but won a relatively easy bout over Joe Tipman (18/23) (15-7-2) (pre) for his first defense of the WBC FW title.

Kilbane dominated the fight but was floored in the 6th. He was only down for a 3 count so he was more off balance than anything.

He swelled up tipman's left eye in the 8th and dropped him for good in the 11th.

I had it 97-93 at the stoppage.

On the undercard

LH - Bob Fitzsimmons (32/26) (37-4) KO7 Dan Flynn (23/30) (15-9-3) (fitzsimmons was dropped back to 100pp when he came back from retirement from now on I think the rule will be they lose 200pp if they comeback after 1 year 300 if they come back after 2)
