Cuba - Lightweights - Quarter-Finals
Quarter Finals:
Florentino Fernandez 4-1-0 (4) vs Baby Diogenes Sagarra 2-1-0 (1) - Fernandez dropped Sagarra 3 times, twice in the fatal 6th before the referee halted the bout for the TKO due to Sagarra being defenseless. Orlando Zulueta 3-1-0 (2) vs Richard Abril 2-1-0 (0) - A rather dull fight as Zulueta stayed on his toes through the entire bout while Abril played the ineffectual stalking horse. It was close, but Zulueta took the 145-143, 143-143 and 144-141 majority decision. Emory Cabana 6-1-0 (1) vs Baby Cochet 2-1-0 (1) - Cochet dropped a UD vs the then victorious Cabana, and Cabana controlled the pace again to earn the narrow 145-143, 145-144 and 145-143 decision. Damazo Collazo 3-1-0 (2) vs Doughlas Vaillant 2-1-0 (0) - It was Collazo with the decision last time they met. This was a horse of a different color as Collazo came in flat for this bout, and Vaillant took advantage to the tune of a 145-142, 141-145 and 144-141 split decision in the first upset of this tourney. |

Cuba - Lightweights - Semi-Finals & Final
Semi-Finals:
Florentino Fernandez 5-1-0 (5) vs Douglas Vaillant 3-1-0 (0) - Fernandez went 15 for the first time as Vaillant continued his string of never being knocked down. A very close bout early as Vaillant actually mixed it up quite a bit darting in and scoring seemingly at will at times. He faded for the last 5 rounds however, and Fernandez won 145-140 on my card, but the judges had it much closer, 144-140, 142-142 and 145-139. Orlando Zulueta 4-1-0 (2) vs Emory Cabana 7-1-0 (1) - The favored Zulueta's lone lost was to Cabana in the last tourney. Another spirited bout that went back and forth between these two saw Zulueta redeem himself by takign the 145-142, 143-144 and 144-142 split decision. Final: Florentino Fernandez 6-1-0 (5) vs Orlando Zulueta 5-1-0 (2) - In the first meeting between Fernandez and Lulueta, Zulueta started out on fire, taking 5 of 6 of the first rounds on my card. A 9th round knockdown by Fernandez was the turning point in the bout, as Fernandez seemed to sweep all but the last round to have a narrow lead on my card. Zulueta came out with bad intent in the final round however, scoring seemingly at will and having Fernandez trapped on the rope at the sounding of the final bell. I had it 142-142 for a draw while the judges had it 142-142,l 145-139 and 143-141 for the winner by majority decision, Florentino Fernandez who moves on to his first World Tournament with a 7-1-0 (5) record. |

Cuba - Jr. Lightweights - Complete
With three pugilists in the Jr. Lightweight Division so top seeded Joel Casamayor will receive the bye in the Semi-Finals.
Semi-Final: Frankie Otero 1-1-0 (1) vs Rances Barthelemy 0-0-0 (0) - Otero put on a clinic, moving well and keeping Barthelemy off balance enroute to the 147-139 (x2), 146-139 decision. Final: Joel Casamayor 4-1-0 (1) vs Frankie Otero 2-1-0 (1) - Otero took Casamayor the full 15 rounds but dropped the UD the first time they met. Casamayor simply over powered Otero this time out with a scintilating attack with both hands that netted him a lopsided 148-137, 146-137 and 145-138 UD. Casamayor improves to 5-1-0 (1) heading into his 2nd World Tournament. |

Cuba - Featherweights - Quarter - Finals
A strong field of 8 led by last season's all time boxing association's Featherweight World Champion, Kid Chocolate.
Quarter-Finals: Kid Chocolate 7-0-1 (3) vs Marino Gonzalez 0-1-0 (0) - Chocolate stopped Gonzalez due to a huge flurry of unanswered shots late in the 10th for the TKO win. Sugar Ramos 1-1-0 (1) vs Eugene Garcia 0-1-0 (0) - Garcia showed good boxing skills, but couldn't score the points needed against an agressive Ramos. Ramos went the distance for the first time in his career, winning the 145-140, 144-141 & 145-139 unanimous decision. Yuriorkis Gamboa 0-1-0 (0) vs Jose Legra 1-1-0 (0) - After the frustration of losing in the first round last season, Gamboa promised a quick end of Legra this time around. He delivered on his promise with a knockout at the 2:07 mark of the first round! Ciro Morasen 0-1-0 (0) vs Miguel Acevedo 2-1-1 (0) - Acevedo didn't do too bad in the tourney last time, making it to the final bout before losing to the eventual World Champion. This time he didn't get past the first fight of the tourney as he built up a lead against Morasen only to get cut and stopped in the 10th round. |

Cuba - Featherweights - Semi-Finals & Final
Semi-Finals:
Kid Chocolate 8-0-1 (4) vs Ciro Morasen 1-1-0 (1) - Chocolate was the agressor again in this one, as he seeks to prove his title wasn't a fluke. He piled up the points against a game but over matched Morasen. In the 13th round, Morasen didn't even get off of his stool, ending the bout as a 13th round TKO. Sugar Ramos 2-1-0 (1) vs Yuriorkis Gamboa 1-1-0 (1) - Two evenly matched fighters engaged in a non stop slug fest that saw Gamboa down in the first, then Ramos down twice in the 2nd before the referee had seen enough to end it for the Gamboa TKO. Final: Kid Chocolate 9-0-1 (5) vs Yuriorkis Gamboa 2-1-0 (2) - A dominant Chocolate capped off his 2nd Cuban title with a rousing TKO victory in the 10th round. Chocolate was up 88-81, 88-81 and 88-80 through the 9th round with a total of 5 knockdowns in the fight. |

Czech Republic - Complete.
We only have 6 fighters among all the divisions, so I'll post all results on this page.
HW: Pala Ondrej 1-1-0 (1) vs Petr Sedlak 0-1-0 (0) - Sedlak surfered a 3rd round TKO the first time they fought. This time, to his credit he showed a lot more training and lasted to the 10th before cuts ended his night in that round. Ondrej improves to 2-1-0 (2) heading towards his 2nd tourney. Tomas Adamek is the LHW entrant with no others to contest him. CW: Suda Lubos 2-1-0 (2) vs Rudolf Kraj 0-1-0 (0) - last time Kraj was stopped in the 15th round by way of TKO. This time we had a very close back and forth affair that went the full 15 with the judges having it 143-141 Kraj, 144-139 Abainza and 143-140 for the winner by split decision, the first time entrant into the World Tournament, Kraj! The last fighter from the Czech Republic will be JMW Lukas Konecny who makes his first World Tourney appearance.

Actually, I may be able to bring this back...will be a rather painstaking process as I'd have to manually rebuild the entire database.....

I went through a few different iterations of my AU before I settled on my current one.
