Robert Willet
Amazin',
In the Ohio University (Athens, OH) Baseball program retrospective album, there were select alumni headshots shown in the back. That's where I found Bob Willet. Just above the photos of Bob Brenly and Michael Jack Schmidt. |

https://www.baseball-reference.com/r...d=terpko001jef I thought that he was a little bit on the yellow side so I redid him...

Obviously shadow isn't great so I share what I had for him in my database... I didn't do a new one since I think it was fine.

So Willet was Bob the Bobcat, huh? Cool.
(and…thanks.)
It's been a rough year for the defending World Champion Dodgers. They stumbled out of the gate (5-13 in April) and while they've had five winning months since then, they were never able to threaten the top of the standings, in what is now a two-team race (and the Braves are hanging by a thread, at that). Clearly, the double-holdout affected Sandy Koufax somehow. Yes, he was invincible in Spring Training (0.37 ERA in six starts), but then he was 2-6 in the first two months, with an ERA near 5.00. Obviously, "The Left Hand of God" steadied the ship after that (5-0, 1.30 in September), but too little too late. It might behoove the Dodgers to look for an upgrade at 1B, as well. No disrespect for Wes Parker, but still. One of the players getting a look is Mel Corbo, coming off of strong years at AA Albuquerque in 1964 and AAA Spokane last year. ![]() |

Those aren't bad, don't like the smiling tho. I mean, how often did Bonds smile, besides in a few video highlights after he's broken a major record and being celebrated? I think LansdowneSt's Giants-era Bonds with a thinner face that he posted a few days ago is the best thus far.

LansdowneSt, could you do a better Rick Engle FG than this? I have the link to his high school picture but I highly doubt I could do something better with it...
https://www.baseball-reference.com/r...d=engle-001ric https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/d....Retouched.jpg The card is what is currently in the database and it's probably sourced from the BR pic for him.

Rick Engle
Pitcher Rick Engle made only one major league appearance in his career, pitching a couple of innings in relief for the Montreal Expos against the Cincinnati Reds on a rainy night at Riverfront Stadium on September 2, 1981. He relieved Stan Bahnsen, who was making a spot start, in the bottom of the 3rd with the Expos already down, 3-0. Struggling with his command, he gave up 4 runs on 6 hits and a walk before turning the ball over to Tom Gorman, who also made his debut that night. Gorman was much more impressive and ended up pitching regularly down the stretch, while Engle never got into another game. - bRef Bullpen wiki
Redid the facegen based on these two pics. Once is from the photopack thread and the other from his time in Denver. |

Does anyone have a good Bob Harmon from the early 20th century? He's been #1 in my rotation for a couple of years now (25 wins last year), but the current FG is bordering on the undead look.

Bob Harmon
Pitcher Bob Harmon was living proof of what a baseball career could do for the life of a player. He carefully managed his paychecks and invested in oil fields while still pitching for the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates during the Deadball Era. In 1922 he liquidated much of his petroleum holdings and purchased nearly 800 acres of prime farmland near Monroe, Louisiana. Harmon had grown up in a farming family and knew what the occupation required. He was fortunate enough to have the finances to weather the ups and downs. He became an affluent, influential agriculturalist gaining prominence in his area and statewide. Never losing his love of the game, Harmon was often identified in the local paper as “Monroe’s biggest baseball enthusiast.”
All told, Harmon went 107-133 with a 3.33 ERA (89 ERA+) over nine years in the bigs. The subtitle of Richard Cooper’s biography of "Hickory Bob" neatly condensed and defined Harmon’s story. Cooper penned, “From Missouri orphan to the Major Leagues to Louisiana millionaire, Bob Harmon touched all the bases. The true story of a dead ball era star.” This was a tough one to get the right balance of keeping the craggy elements of the photo I chose to create character and personality and smoothing it out to make it serviceable. I didn't use the smooth face on the pin as it came out far too generic. There was none for him in my facepack but I found a file called harmon001bob and it looked like an undead Bob H made from the same photo, so that's the "before" shown. Not my best but, given the default one, it's all relative ![]() |

Bonds probably did smile more than I give him credit for. He slugged .693 career against the D-Backs, and growing up a baseball fan in Arizona, I guess my fear of Bonds manifested in me viewing him as a grumpy, icy antagonist
![]() QUOTE=hfield007;4862735]im not super big on the smiling ones either but if you search barry bonds pics youd be surprised in how many of them he smiles. thats kind of revisionist history in your mind i think that he was just angry 24/7 lol.[/QUOTE] |

You're welcome. It should be noted that all pics except the big group shot are courtesy of Pinson_HOF in the Minor League Player thread.
Terry Christman (was he related to Mark? No idea) played for seven years in the Mets chain, first as an outfielder and then as a pitcher. But the only pics I found were from his lower-level days in the Cardinals chain, before that: Terry's in the middle of the 1963 pic, and sorry the '64 is so small. Bump Wills
https://www.baseball-reference.com/r...d=wills-001ell FG with shadow in the database (he is listed the old way Bump_Wills) so I redid it... not 100% happy with it since the picture I used was from 1989 and not from his playing days.

Mike Davey
https://www.baseball-reference.com/r...d=davey-001mic Probably not the biggest upgrade... but I redid him because the FG didn't load in my game (the database use a wrong name for him: davey-001mik) so I post my result in case you'd prefer it.
