Opening Day 1889
1st April 1889 The fans of the Bridegrooms suffered through a tough year last season as their favourites failed to capitalise on the previous years pennant. The fans are hoping that pennant form will return this year. The independent league assessors cannot see pennant form this year from the Bridegrooms but were not to scathing in their assessment with a 4th place finish in the NL predicted. They expect the fans to enjoy 78 wins while suffering through 76 losses this year. The MLB have decided not to make any changes this year and have left the season as 154 games long. The attitude of the players during the spring training work outs has really pleased the Gm and Manager. This has meant that choosing the 25 man opening day roster has been tougher than expected. The final selection for this roster is given below. Pitching Batting |

Opening Day 1889
1st April 1889 The last couple of seasons have seen the White Sox slowly fall away from their championship winning form of 1886. The fans are hoping this can be arrested and that winning form return to the squad. The independent league assessors are not sure that is possible with the current squad but are still predicting another top half finish in the AL with 3rd place. The record will be one of 87-67 according to the assessors. The MLB have decided not to make any changes this year and have left the season as 154 games long. The fans of the White Sox were all smiles during the charity open day during spring training as they got to see their favourite stars put through their paces as they worked towards the new season. The Gm and Manager were also pleased with this work done in the pre season and made their final selection of the opening day roster as late as possible to give everybody a chance to make it. The final 25 that did make the roster is given below. Pitching Batting |

Opening Day 1889
1st April 1889 The fans of the White Stockings are still celebrating last seasons championship win and as the new season comes upon them they are hoping the good vibes will translate into the players producing the same form this year. The independent league assessors have judged the squad and don't feel it has quite the same depth as last year and are predicting the team to fall short of the NL pennant this year with a 2nd place finish. This they think will also result in a record of 87-67. The MLB have decided not to make any changes this year and have left the season as 154 games long. The players were expecting spring training to be tough but what they got surprised even them as the GM and Manager made sure they would be fitter and better prepared than ever to try and defend the MLB Championship title they won last year. The 25 players the GM and Manager final decided should be the ones to try and defend the title are given below. Pitching Batting |

Opening Day 1889
1st April 1889 Last season the team from Cleveland disappointed their fans by falling away from the pennant in the last month or so. This year the fans are hoping they can hold it together all season to bring the pennant home. They are predicting a 1st place finish in the AL table with a 98-56 record. The MLB have decided not to make any changes this year and have left the season as 154 games long. Opening Day 1889
1st April 1889 The fans of the newly named Tigers are hoping that this year can see them move away from their habitual spot of bottom 2 in the AL. The independent league assessors have given the fans hope as they have put their necks on the line with a 4th place prediction for the team this year. This includes picking up a winning record of 82-72 for the season. If this comes about the fans will be extremely pleased. The MLB have decided not to make any changes this year and have left the season as 154 games long. After a tough few years the Gm and Manager decided to try something different for spring training this year. They decided to take the team away to the beach for their pre season work outs to try and build some team chemistry away from all of the news and fan hassles that come with the club at home. They were pleased to see that this trip seemed to help the players and made their choice of the 25 opening day players tougher. Their final selection is given below. Pitching Batting |

Opening Day 1889
1st April 1889 Last season was tough to take for the fans of the Colonels and they are hoping that this season can provide some sort of improvement. Their hopes were not helped though by the independent league assessors who feel the squad has not improved at all and are predicting another last place finish for the team. They cannot see the team doing well at all and are giving them the worst record in Baseball at 55-99. The MLB have decided not to make any changes this year and have left the season as 154 games long. The players were pleased to note that the GM and Manager were willing to forget all about last seasons terrible campaign and begin again with a blank sheet of paper on every player. They put the team through some tough workouts and finally came up with, what they think, is the strongest 25 from their squad for the opening day. This squad is given below. Pitching Batting |

Opening Day 1889
1st April 1889 Then fans were happy to see some improvement from their favourites last year and are hoping a further improvement can be made this season. The independent league assessors were not that hopeful of improvement as they are predicting another 5th place finish for the Giants. This will include a slightly below average record of 76-78 for the team. The MLB have decided not to make any changes this year and have left the season as 154 games long. The GM and Manager got the players in early this pre season to try and get them up to a fitness level that will help them throughout the season. This tough work out seemed to do the players good as some were noted as saying they have never felt fitter or better prepared for the new season. The GM and Manager used this solid work to hone their squad down to the 25 players best suited to start the season and this list is given below. Pitching Batting |

Opening Day 1889
1st April 1889 The team came close to taking the pennant last year and the fans are hoping the team can go one better this year. They are predicting a bottom half finish with 5th place the best the team can hope for and a record of 78-76. The MLB have decided not to make any changes this year and have left the season as 154 games long. The fans always eagerly anticipate the announcement of who has made the opening day roster. Opening Day 1889
1st April 1889 The fans are hoping that the team can finally make that last step and take the pennant this year after going close the previous 3 years. The independent league assessors are not so sure they team will be heading in that direction. They feel the squad is now past its best and will be going down the table instead of up. They have given a prediction of 6th in the NL table with a record of 74-80. The MLB have decided not to make any changes this year and have left the season as 154 games long. The Quakers players were back in training early again this year as they try to push themselves into that top spot in the NL table. This pleased the Gm and Manager as they used all these extra workouts to get a feel for the best players in the squad. All of this work has led them to decide that the following 25 players are the ones to take the team into the season this year. Pitching Batting |

Opening Day 1889
1st April 1889 The fans of the saw their team fall into the bottom half of the table last season. This year they are hoping the team can move back up the table to reclaim a top half finish. The independent league assessors do not think the off season has been kind to the squad and feel that they are possibly worse than last year with a 7th place finish the prediction. The record for the team has been set at 64-90. The MLB have decided not to make any changes this year and have left the season as 154 games long. The team came to spring training with their bags packed this year as the GM and Manager decided some altitude training would do them good. They move the training camp to a rough mountain camp this year to toughen up the players before the season started. This also showed them who they could count on when the chips were down and helped to select the following 25 players as the opening day squad. Pitching Batting |

Opening Day 1889
1st April 1889 The fans of the Browns were slightly surprised but also pleased that their team finished last season in the top half of the table. They are hoping that this year can be the same or better with a possible push for the pennant. The independent league assessors are not sure the squad has improved much over the winter and is again suggesting a 3rd place finish is what the team can expect with a record of 82-72. The MLB have decided not to make any changes this year and have left the season as 154 games long. After the teams best season ever the players were not surprised to find that the GM and Manager were not going to given them an easy ride in spring training this year. The tough workouts got the players into better shape than they had previously been and also helped the GM and Manager to select the following 25 players as the opening day roster. Pitching Batting |

This includes gaining a record of 62-92. The MLB have decided not to make any changes this year and have left the season as 154 games long. With the change in ownership there was some confusion over which direction the team would take for its opening day roster this year.
