well, it was a joke. I'm sure I come across as confrontational to Mal, but, the truth is, I try to judge each and every one of his posts at face value (as in, not basing it on his past posts or his personalilty...obviously neither of which I'm a fan of). I have agreed with Mal in the past, and surely will do so again in the future. I have ignored lots of stuff of his, and, again, will do the same down the road. And, sometimes, I'll see a post of his and feel a desire to respond against it, like I did in this thread. it's not personal, and not any more confrontational than I am to others - it just happens to be that I disagree with what he has to say quite often.

Aha, Carlton of the deep end again. Some things never change.

On topic, I will say that OOTP has inspired some degree of loyalty in me, such that given two equal or two somewhat similar products- I would be inclined to stick with it. That being said, the danger comes not from me sticking to OOTP, but to something akin with CM/FM - where I routinely skip editions because its simply not worth it to me for the upgrades.

I like hearing opinions on comparative aspects of different baseball games. I'm interested in the ability (or inability) of the latest round of graphics games to offer good career/manager/GM modes. (Mal, did you look at the new .989 game? Does it have manage only/career?)

If someone offers a good graphics-based game where I can play only as manager/GM in career mode, I'd buy it in a heartbeat and play it whenever I'm not playing OOTP. I don't want to swing the stupid bat or use a joy-stick to throw pitches. OOTP lets the players play and lets me manage and general manage. That's the beauty of OOTP.

But I'm intrigued by Mal's discussion of PureSim. I'll do the free download and give it a try. I doubt it'll outshine OOTP, but I appreciate hearing input on the strengths and weaknesses of different games. So what if it's only one person's opinion? It's always good to have more input.

So, thanks, Mal. I, for one, hope you'll continue to give your analysis of OOTP versus other games (graphics games included).
You're welcome. I'm looking for the 989 game tonight, as an old Earl Weaver player I would also love a "a good graphics-based game where I can play only as manager/GM in career mode" and dream of one appearing one day, and try Puresim, you might like it.

Judging by his actions, he'd much rather just keep on harassing me. I suspect it's just another part of the OT crowd's continuing efforts to try and run me off.

2)the coefficient so that players are not making 9.5 million, and I have to turn financials off and kill waivers (which was part of the game back then)

I agree with you on the need for all of that. My "minor issue" comment was referring to the fact that financial coefficients has never seemed to me to be a hot-button issue the way H2H and the manual have been.

No, you come across to me and to others as someone who consistently harasses me for no good reason. It's time to stop it. If you read this thread, you will see that the non-OT people are on to what you have been doing.

I dislike and disagree with you even more that you dislike and disagree with me, but I follow the board rules and don't harass you or flame you. Return the favor: let's you and I talk PC baseball without the smart remarks, without your nasty and offensive little "jokes," and without - well people say it's your alias, but I don't know that, and real people get accused of being my aliases, so let's just say "an alias" - making snarky comments.

I reformed when the board rules went into effect. Now it's your turn.

Mal, I look forward to your review and analysis of .989's latest offering.

Ah, Earl Weaver. The good memories are so thick you have to swat them away like flies ....

From what I understand that has been dealt with and it is time for everyone to move on.

Malleus, to his credit, appears (as far as I can tell) to have done just that. I have noticed that in recent months he has done an about face and seems to really want to be a positive influence and a contributer to this board.

DD and this alias of someone's named o as well as a few others seem to just want to prolong the fight every time Malleus posts.

Give it a rest guys, or at least confine it to off-topic so the rest of us dont have to wade through that crap looking for intelligent discussion about OOTP and other sports management sims.

I feel sorry for you. This always seems so important to you.

When I read this board, I don't split people up into "OT" and "non-OT" people. I don't care if OT people disagree with my posts...I don't care if "non-OT" people do either. Then again, I LIKE diversity.

You do win the "I dislike you more" award, and I'll even let you have the "I know I am but what are you" trophy along with the "my dad can beat up your dad" cup. congrats on your victory.

for your info, I have NEVER used an alias in ANY manner on this board. If I want to take potshots at you, I have the balls to do it without hiding behind an alias. I don't think all of us can say that, though, can we?

best of luck on your continued board-rules rehab. it's a long tough road, but we'll be there for you.

I got you. If he's was bullish and ignorant in the past, it's ok now, just because he's been following the rules since they were instituted. Gotcha ok. But my first post in this thread still stands, which was not an attack at him, but he did choose to attack me with his reply, which is why I attacked him back. Don't try to say what DD said to him was much worse than what he said to me, because from where I sit, it's the same, if not worse. My entire point in my second post which got lost, is that this thread did not and still doesn't belong in this forum, it belongs in general discussions.

I can only speak for myself when I say it isn't true. I could sit here all day posting rebuttals, but I'm not going to do that. if you and Carlton (and any other non-OT guys) think I'm picking on him, that's your opinion and you can keep right on believing it. it doesn't bother me at all.

Mal's MO doesn't change - he says something, someone disagrees with it, and then Mal goes on the offensive until he runs out of gas and then cries about being attacked, until he finally musters up some sympathizers. it happens the same way all the time. guess it was just your turn for a ride on the bandwagon. why don't you compare my "attacks" in this thread to Mals and then come back and tell me again to give it a rest. then we can talk.

Don't you ever get tired of these lies?

You carry a grudge that you won't even admit to, but everyone can see.

You consistently harass me and make your little offensive "jokes." (See the "if Mal had done a search" cheap shot earlier in this thread for yet another example of how this sort of thing starts.) If I start a topic to talk PC baseball, there you are, you and your alias buddies, to make offensive "jokes" and to attack me and to try and provoke yet another stupid and pointless flamewar. THAT'S the M.O. (and note that I do NOT do that to you). I'm tired of it, and the board is tired of it - even people who don't like me are tired of it and are posting to that effect. This is not OT, this is the OOTP6 forum, and it's time to stop the harassment, DD.

I issued you a challenge, which you completely ignored. I have reformed - and people here know it - but you clearly have not, and it's your turn now. Have you got the balls to grow up, act like an adult, and give up your grudge - or not?

You are either deliberately lying or are mistaken. For proof, re-read this thread. Note that the first attack in it is DD's -taking a grudge-based shot at me over our past disagreements over the use of the search function, disguised as one of his little offensive "jokes," followed by me - politely - asking him to stop. He and the aliases don't, and here we are again.

THAT'S what happens. Over and over again. I try to talk PC baseball, and he appears and tries to start a fight. It's harassment, and it's time he grew up and stopped doing it, because this isn't the old days, and this isn't OT.

so, uhh, when somebody suggests you use the search function, it's a cheap shot.

My reply to your comment was a polite "Excuse me, but that answer was not meant to apply to you or to others in general - I was replying specifically to someone else. What games do you buy for GM mode?" Go look it up. Then you attacked me again. How dare you compare a polite reply to you to DD taking a grudge-based cheap shot at me disguised as a "joke."

I was posting about OOTP6. This is, in case you missed it, the OOTP6 forum.

You ready to admit whose grudge-bearing alias you are yet? Or not?
