Unfortunately, it appears that I already had "Current Year Only" checked (didn't even realize it). It took over 16 hours for 1915 to complete

THE CHRONICLE - VOLUME 15, ISSUE 1

JANUARY 1, 1915:
Napoleon Lajoie may have stepped away from the plate, but he hasn't left the game. He will stay on with Philadelphia as manager and hopefully continue to lend his leadership to the Athletics and win a few more championship. Last year's surprise crown certainly settles the argument of the comparison between the A's and Giants. In the American league, we have numerous contenders and we also have another team name change. Cleveland will no longer call themselves the Bronchos after their unexpected last place finish last year. They will now be called the Indians in memory of a great player from the 19th century, Chief Sockalexis. Hopefully it will be luckier than Brooklyn's name change from last year. The National League is also up for grabs. The Giants hope to return to the Series and again challenge the Athletics' claim to top team, but they will have competition around every turn. One mishap will sink their hopes.

Prospect Watch: BOB NETSKY

It's hard to believe that a 17 year-old has this much potential, but scouts are foaming at the mouth to sign him, despite his youth. Other prospects are ready for the big leagues right out of the gate, but it is unlikely that Netsky will get past #2. His ceiling is much too high. He may take a few years to make it to the majors, but it should be worth the wait.

Talents (Stuff/Control/Movement): 110/80/60
Current Ratings: 27/11/36

THE CHRONICLE - VOLUME 15, ISSUE 2

SEPTEMBER 22, 1915:
Talk about a reversal of fortune! Last year's champions, the Philadelphia Athletics, took a nosedive into last place while the newly christened Indians shook off the bad luck of the Bronchos moniker and finished in first, ahead of numerous challengers. They traded Cy Williams, the 2nd overall pick in this year's draft, to Pittsburgh for 2b Jim Viox and pitcher Socks Seibold. He was later traded to the Boston Braves....their eventual opponents in the World Series.

Two years removed from a tough 7 game loss to Washington in the 1913 World Series, the Boston Braves are back with a chance at redemption. They obliterated the rest of the competition coasting to a 16 game victory. The overachievers this year were the Phillies. With a run differential of -108, they should have been in the running for last place, but instead they finished at .500.

PROSPECT WATCH

ROY HOBBS
: Royhad an unexpected downturn and he was released by the Indians in August. The Brooklyn Robins signed him a week later, placing him in AAA, but he's devastated that he has to read about Cleveland in the World Series. This year was his last chance

SAM KINGMA: Sambo needs to improve his plate discipline. He still is knocking them in, but he barely walked at all. He did win another Gold Glove...his 9th so far!

JAKE SCOTT: Scott had another typical season...very few hits, but lots of walks. He failed to win 20 games for the first time in seven years, but that was most likely due to lack of run support.

JOHN "HOMERUN" HEINZ: Heinz made it back to the All Star game despite the apparent loss of his power stroke. His first Gold Glove will certainly ease the pain.

JOHN "SHELLY" SHELTON: Shelly's season was up and down, batting under .250 in May and over .400 in July. Insiders say that his May performance may be due to strife with rookie pitcher Mike O'Donnell who seemed to have an irrational reaction to Shelton when he was promnoted to the bigs. Since then, it appears to have been smoothed over.

I've decided not to show the minor league years any more. Takes up too much useless space.

I hope you're right about the Locomotive simply needing more time in the railshed before he's ready to turn into a real workhorse. That talent hit he took this year doesn't look good, though. Hopefully that's just a temporary setback.

The Braves would normally be predicted to walk away with this crown, but two major injuries will make it a bit more difficult for them. Both Alan Liao and Jake Scott were injured in the last few days of the season and will miss the entire World Series. Stiill, the Indians offense isn't much to shout about.

PREDICTION: Braves in 7

1915 WORLD SERIES

9/26/1915 - GAME 1 BRAVES 0 - INDIANS 6

Walter Johnson shut down the Braves with a complete game shutout and George Burns went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI.

9/27/1915 - GAME 2 BRAVES 2 - INDIANS 3

George Burns has another great game with a double and a homerun to send the Indians to a 2-0 Series lead. Braves' fans are stunned.

9/29/1915 - GAME 3 INDIANS 6 - BRAVES 5

Jerrod Riggert, Jim Viox and William Fischer each contribute 2 RBI in front of a silent Boston crowd. The Braves post a rally in the bottom of the 9th that briefly puts them on their feet, only to fall 1 run short. That 3-0 hole is looking cavernous right now.

9/30/1915 - GAME 4 INDIANS 4 - BRAVES 3, 11 innings

The Indians complete the unlikely sweep in extra innings on Beals Becker's 11th inning RBI double. Jim Viox also went 4 for 5 in the game.

1915 WORLD CHAMPS - CLEVELAND INDIANS
1st Championship

SERIES MVP: George Burns, .294, 3 2b, 1 HR, 3 RBI

Another GG for Baleyi, awesome. I had hoped he'd be very good defensively, so I'm very pleased. But #2 w/ 12 HR? Wow! With him & Woodworth, I hope the Phillies will grow into a top-notch contender.

THE CHRONICLE - VOLUME 16, ISSUE 1

JANUARY 1, 1916:
The Cleveland Indians are riding high after their mairaculous season last year. They think they can repeat as AL champions, but a number of teams have something to say about that. Their top challenger is most likely the high octane offense of the Boston Red Sox. With Joe Jackson and Tris Speaker, they are truly frightening. They will need some arms to go along with their bats, though, if they want to take home the crown. The National favorites are once again the Boston Braves. The sweep at the hands of Cleveland was demoralizing to say the least, but many people attribute it to the loss of Alan Liao and Jake Scott for the entire postseason. With a healthy squad, they should coast to another pennant and a chance for redemption.

Prospect Watch: BOBBY 'THE WATERBOY" BOUCHER

In the dictionary, next to the phrase "raw talent", should be a picture of this young Cajun. He's uneducated, ignorant, and gullible as can be, but boy can he throw a curve ball. With the right tutelage, his arm could be turned into quite a weapon, but he has a loooong way to go. His control is so erratic that players in his home town have taken to wearing helmets at the plate when he pitches! Can you imagine that? This is quite a rich draft class with the likes of Rogers Hornsby and Harry Heilmann, but Boucher should go in the top 4 or so easily.

Talents (Stuff/Control/Movement): 100/60/90
Current Ratings: 20/9/32

THE CHRONICLE - VOLUME 16, ISSUE 2

SEPTEMBER 24, 1916:
The Boston Red Sox were yet again the top offense in the majors, and it looks like they got some pitching, at least enough for them to win the pennant. Evidence of their improved rotation is apparent in their record in 1-run games. However, there is still doubt about their ability to take it all the way. Since their initial championship in 1903, the Red Sox have choked in the postseason. The Cleveland Indians may have repeated if it hadn't been for their sub-.500 road record. they had the top record at home, but foreign fields seemed to stifle them.

To be honest, the Robins should have won the NL by a much larger margin. Their run differential was the best in the majors, but for some the ball didn't always bounce their way. Their 22-27 record in 1-run games is horrendous for a pennant-winning team. Smokey Joe Wood had a career year for them and almost singlehandedly pulled them past the Braves in the waning days of the season.

PROSPECT WATCH, part 2

ALAN LIAO
: Liao missed the first 40 games of the season healing from last year's season-ending injury, but he still managed to put up some very nice numbers. We certainly would like to see a full season from this young gent.

How old is he now? It's not surprising he hit so low w/ a 58 contact. I can't wait for it to improve. When he reaches 90 (or close), watch out. Drawing 83 walks is excellent. He could someday have an OBP near .500!

No wonder the Phillies lost. My guy hit less then .200 at 2B and Matt's guy hit just over .200 at SS. But I think we will improve.....or I hope we do

THE CHRONICLE - 1916 WORLD SERIES PREVIEW

AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPION: BOSTON RED SOX (91-63)

Team Batting Average: .272
Team ERA: 3.45

Top Batters:
Joe Jackson - .359, 74 RBI, 61 SB
Tris Speaker - .345, 91 RBI, 44 SB

Top Pitchers:
George Ruth - 24-8, 3.07 ERA, 133 K
Doc Crandall - 23-11, 2.36 ERA, 154 K

NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPION: BROOKLYN ROBINS (90-64)

Team Batting Average: .271
Team ERA: 3.02

Top Batters:
Edd Roush - .335, 114 RBI, 57 SB
John "Shelly" Shelton - .324, 73 RBI, 49 SB
Harry Wolter - .296, 60 RBI, 75 SB

Top Pitchers:
"Smokey Joe" Wood - 26-10, 2.30 ERA, 279 K
Lefty Williams - 14-8, 2.42 ERA, 149 K

The Robins suffered a big loss in mid-September when #2 starter Eppa Rixey went down with an injury. Smokey Joe Wood should be able to outduel George Ruth, but the rest of the rotation will struggle against Boston's vaunted offense.

PREDICTION: Red Sox in 7
