* The OriginData.zip file on the site has some errors in the non-US origin files; so, use this zip file instead. I corrected the probability numbers for the cities so you'll get cities other than the first listed in the file. * Unzip both files into the league directory for the Professional Circuit. * Export the players_general.csv file from the Misc. Setup screen. * Run OOTP6_OriginsOnly.exe. * Re-import players_general.csv and you should be all set. |

I have a custom historical names file that I've created. I'm looking to just add origins to all my players who I didnt manually edit before.
If you'd like my modified name files, I'd be happy to email them to you. |

I did as you said, except I only extracted the US origins dat file. Its in the OriginData folder in my .lg folder along with the .exe When I run the .exe program, I get an error 53: file not found error. |

The .exe needs to be in the league's root directory. If it's in the origindata directory it's looking for the .dat files in OriginData/OriginData.

Is there a file called players_general.csv in the .lg folder?

yes, it, the .exe, and the origindata folder are in the .lg directory.
As I said, all I have in the origindata folder is the us origin file.............I didnt want all the other country files in there. Last edited by Cooleyvol; 05-25-2005 at 03:30 PM. |

OK, I redownloaded and put all the files in the folder.
Now I get "Run time error 62 Run time past end of file" I get that upon clicking the 'Execute' button. |

That's the problem. The file OotP exports is comma delimited; so, the commas in the entered origins are making the OriginsOnly program think there are extra fields. The only solution is to use Notepad to delete the extra commas and then run the program again.

Ok, I took out the commas in the origins that I had entered.
Same error. I'm attaching my csv file...........if you can look at it and tell me what's wrong, I'd appreciate it. Last edited by Cooleyvol; 05-25-2005 at 05:25 PM. |

Are you using the OriginsOnly or the full Originator?
I personally have never gotten OriginsOnly to work and never could figure out why I get the error 62. You might check that there are no blank lines at the end of your name or origin files (open in Notepad, go to the bottom and backspace to the last text line). You might also try exporting the player_general.csv from scratch and trying again. I always just used the full Originator. The Originator will reset names as well, but there's a way around it: make a copy of your player_general.csv before running it through the Originator, then open the Originated csv and the copy in Excel or your favorite spreadsheet, and copy the old names back to the new names. You'll need to edit the height field to keep it from becoming a date (hurray AutoFormat) -- format the column, select custom format, and enter m-d -- but otherwise that should work. You can also PM me if you'd like.

That still causes problems with the heights. You lose all the heights of 6' as there is no June 0. If you want to open the file in Excel, change the extension from csv to txt. That way when you open it you have to specify the delimiter and that gives you a chance to change the formatting of all the fields to text. |

Hm. Hadn't thought of that... it worked for me -- as in there were no re-import errors -- when I did it, but I'll remember that for next time.

If I may ask a question, what files are in your .lg folder? The reason I ask is because I want to use the originator and DMs historical name file. Is that even possible?
thanks, dcc
