Named for the E. Remington & Sons factory that was located there at the time, the Typewriters out of Ilion NY played from 1901 thru midway of 1905 in the New York and Empire State Leagues, with its games at Russell Park - still in existence as a public park. Since the franchise upped and relocated to nearby Fulton in July, 1905, MiLB has not returned to Ilion.

Now we take a look at the Bisons out of Jeannette PA, perhaps more familiarly known by the Jays nickname. This club existed as the Jays from 1926 thru '31 before moving elsewhere. It returned to Jeannette in 1934 as the Reds (briefly serving as a Cincy affiliate). In 1936 another attempt was made to have a club in the city, this time by Pittsburgh; again it struggled. One final attempt was made - this one using the Bisons moniker - in 1937, but sadly it, too, folded and is at the point of posting the last pro club the city has seen.

We know trek up to the badlands of the Dakotas to tackle the Flickertails out of Grand Forks ND, a early version of the Chiefs club that played in the Northern League from 1934 to 1964 with a couple breaks in between. In their prime, from 1946-64, the club was affiliated with various MLB franchises and can count among its ranks such alumni as Pops Stargell, Gene Michael and Johnny Mostil.

In operation for just the 1947 and '48 Colonial League seasons, the Clippers out of Port Chester NY are our next club. In the latter of those two campaigns, by this time a Browns affiliate, they won the league title with a partially-integrated squad featuring Carlos Bernier, who would go on to play briefly for the Pirates.

While we're in New York state, let's quickly have a crack at the Wagonmakers out of Cortland, a shortlived franchise from around the turn of the 19th century that played in the NY State League from 1897 to 1901 and then the Empire State League in 1905 before disbanding for good. Wid Conroy and Stan Yerkes are perhaps their two best-known alumni.

What is as far as I can recall the first Iowan team I've covered in this thread, as we have a crack at the Quakers out of Oskaloosa. This is another club that didn't last long, playing from 1904-07 in the Iowa State League and then spending 1908 in the Central Association before disbanding. Their best result was a 75-49 runner-up finish in 1906.

The Crooks out of Crookston MN are my next target, the first iteration of a club perhaps more widely known as the Pirates from its stint under that moniker in the 1930s. (It wasn't a Pittsburgh affiliate, in fact it shared that role between the Red Sox, White Sox and Cards.) Anyhoo, the Crooks version lasted from 1902-05 and played in the Northern League, with its 55-41 1903 campaign the best it put together.
