Bump - kudos to beni on Discord for notifying me that I've had the wrong league abbreviation for the JPBO in the A Set data basically since day 1. Whoops!
To fix it, go to JBPO > League Settings > League & Teams, then swap the B and P in League Abbreviation. Hit Enter, and reopen the save, then the abbreviation will be corrected for you. I won't be re-releasing the QS or templates this late in the game cycle for something so minor; I'll patch it for 25. |

So in my JPBO save on Twitch (Saturdays at 2pm EDT!), I'm instituting a Flashback Friday jersey program to give my historical uniforms a chance to be shown on broadcasts. Most teams are OK, and it gives the Astrals and Jaguars a chance to show off their old Whalers and Express monikers...
...but then there's the Sendai Woodpeckers. They didn't exist before 2004, and you can't use the Hyogo Gladiators or Kobe Thunder kits because those are owned by the Osaka Bulls post merger. What to do but create a fauxback? Went with a mix of St. Louis Cardinals and Washington Nationals influences (was this close to stealing the Curly W), and kept both green and red colour elements on the jersey. The "powder green" road uniforms are inspired by a jersey set I made as a subscription gift. |

I wish I could figure out how to download this, because I'd love to use it. The Google Drive thing doesn't work for me. I wish it was Dropbox or something like that.
Edit: Used Cloud Convert to make it a zip file. Success! Great work on these. Last edited by ThatSeventiesGuy; 07-26-2023 at 05:47 PM. |

What's this? An A Set Quickstart update!
In addition to folding in the acronym correction and converting the Jaguars to reside in Shinjuku, I was inspired earlier today to locate some more familiar faces from the MLB dataset and restore them to certain coaching positions in the JPBO. See below for an example of what I mean: Note that because these are converted to coaches from the MLB dataset, they will NOT have the same ratings as their [LEAGUE REDACTED] counterparts from prior versions of OOTP. |

Loving the fact you continue to support this fan-made Japanese expansion! Any chance you update the QS with league history and/or the other historical QS for OOTP 24?

Probably not - the league history was a fun project, but made the resulting save too unwieldy to distribute as a QS. |

Hi ! Thank you for all your work on this league. Is it normal that I don't have the customized ballparks on ootp24 ? I used the quickstarts, modern and historical, A set.
Cheers |

A-ha! I discovered the issue - the 24 quickstart file omits the ballparks, but the 23 one has them. Give me a few minutes and I'll fix the 24 file so you just unzip it right into the main OOTP Baseball 24 folder.
EDIT: There we go. Last edited by tehsuigi; 09-24-2023 at 06:15 PM. |

Hi everyone !
I just launched a save with the Jaguars, modern + MLB, really enjoying it so far ! I have a few questions : - Simming is a bit slow for me, I have a potato computer but maybe getting rid of the independent leagues would help? I don't remember my saves being that slow with a modern MLB + a few other leagues. - Any recommandation on setting changes regarding active/secondary rosters limits, number of draft rounds, etc ? I don't have hindsight on the league since I'm still in the first season but I'd be happy to do some tweaking if you think it's needed. Thanks ! |

Ditching the indie leagues would help, or reducing the number of boxscores and stats that are being saved for games outside your league. If you used the quickstart or the league template, everything should be set up OK for active/secondary roster limits and draft rounds. Feel free to DM me your setup if you want a more detailed review. |

I'm looking at things to revise for the 2024 season, and something struck me - we don't have an equivalent of the Miyazaki Phoenix League in the JPBO, a fall league to help accelerate development of players.
If I was to make one, where would y'all want me to site it?

About to start a new save with the Hiroshima Fish/Phoenix
Starting a new save with the Quick Start after watching Suigi's Seafarers (TBH, Chiba Pirates has the best looking logos in this universe).
Decided to take up the challenge of righting the ship for Hiroshima (one of the worst teams in JPBO, with the lowest budget among all 12 teams). This team is in rough shape. No money. Lacks of talent. Basically I have a Seiya Suzuki clone Takao Ando who can play all over the field. And a weak Ace, ideally number 2. Masami Tanada (like Mori****a). Quickstart: JPBO+ Set A Tweak V1
I fired up Suigi's quickstart and made a number of changes to have a tweaked version of the Quickstart - feel free to download and play:
1. Added two Indie leagues for Japan - create some job opportunities for those undrafted players and those out of the league, once a while, one of them turn into something special. 2. Added short season A, simple NCAA and HS feeder systems for MLB - more talent for MLB, more talent for JPBO (those who cannot cut it at MLB will come to Japan). 3. Added AAA, A, and Rookie ball for JPBO - you gotta have an environment for those 18 years old rookies play and develop against their peers, and not get destroyed by career minor leaguers. Feel free to remove AAA or any level if you see fit since I did not generate fictional players to fit the rosters - ghost players for incomplete rosters is enabled so you dont have to run with a full roster at every level. 4. Added AA ball for KBO - same concept as JPBO, you have to separate those who are u20, and those who are over 20 to help with development. 5. Deleted duplicate staff - man this cost me 2 hours just deleting over 1,000 duplicate coaches and staff members. 6. Additional tweaks for league settings - minor settings. 7. Renamed Fukuoka Rings to be Vipers (purple and snakes perfectly describe the evil empire feel of Fukuoka), and Sendai Woodpeckers to be Hawks (well Hawks and Eagles are different, right?). 8. And more small tweaks I cannot remember. Bonus tip - the talent pool (especially Japanese players) at the start of the save will be very small so I recommend you use commissioner mode to fill the minor leagues with fictional players for JPBO - teams will have a better kickstart with prospects and depths that way. Update: Tweak 2 1. Updated the minor league systems, with team names, uniforms and logos 2. Updated ballpark factors for JPBO teams based on OOTP23 numbers 3. Small changes to league settings based on OOTP23 numbers https://mega.nz/file/HctVTQjK#4P84ES...lzlxX9ePpxPNlw Last edited by uknownick; 12-07-2023 at 02:13 PM. |

Special Features: The Best Japanese Players in JPBO - Batters
Here are the 5 best batters in Japan -
1 - Takao Ando - AKA Mike Trout of Japan - he can play 70 grade defense at CF, with insane bat, should be challenging for MVP every season. 2 - Yoshiyuki Aoki - he reminds me of an IRL slugger that that plays for the Lions. 3 - Etsuji Arakawa - 80 grade contact with plus power, and his best position might be LF, could be the Ichiro Suzuki in this universe. 4 - Eiki Kimura - Kimura is essentially Shohei Ohtani 10 years into the future when he gives up pitching. His batting profile is insane - 80 eye and 70 power. 5 - Shin Maeda 前田 愼 - Dubbed as the "Great One", he might be truly the Great One, Maeda is basically Murakami with Arenado's defense - cornerstone of a player and can play almost everywhere on the diamond. MVP level player. In my opinion, Ando, Maeda and Arakawa are the best position players with Kimura coming 4th, and Aoki coming 5th. It is quite an offense first and offense heavy league based on what I have seen. All these guys should be starter or even stars in the MLB. Last edited by uknownick; 12-05-2023 at 12:34 AM. |

Special Features: The Best Japanese Players in JPBO - Pitchers
Here are the top 3 pitchers in Japan -
On the pitching side, however, JPBO is a bit lacking. 1 - Takuro Mori - a 35 years old Ace who throws 97-99 Mph. He is often compared to Jacob DeGrom. The question is how long until his velocity starts dropping. And he might be the only Ace caliber pitcher coming out of Japan in this current JPBO setup if he ever makes it to MLB. He reminds me of Hiroki Kuroda. 2 - Kenshin Morita - in this universe, Chiba did not get Sasaki but they do have Kenshin, whose name came from a famous Sengoku Jidai warlord and warrior. He might only be a mid rotation material if he makes to MLB but if he stays in Japan, he should remain as one of the best pitchers in Japan for a decade or more. 3 - Terushi Nakamura - he is no Daisuke Matsuzaka. But he is the Ace of this Saitama team and can keep the ball in the park. And he is extremely good at holding runners. If you build the right defense around him, Nakamura could form a deadly combo with Aoki. 4 - Tokitaka Ogata - stands at only 5'9, Ogata throws baseball with fire and passion (94-96 Mph). Some say he had offers from MLB to test waters in America in his 20s but out of the love for Nagoya, he decided to stay. Now at 36 years of age, he might only have 2-3 good years left, can you help him win a championship in Japan? 5 - Takeo Saito - unlike the other 4 pitchers listed here, Saito prides his pinpoint command and finesse to be the staff Ace at Sapporo. Sapporo arguably has the best team at the start of the save, and Saito is capable of winning you the championship right at the start if you decides to take your talent to Hokkaido. You are allowed to use the word “Japan”. I’m also quite certain nobody can file a lawsuit for using the word Nippon. |
