First impressions after spending 3hrs with the game.. I cannot fully describe how amazing this game is!!!

Some of the smaller changes, like being able to customize the manager's page (default landing home page) by adding widgets, columns and rows already makes OOTP19 a milestone game changer in this series.

The light and classic skins also look amazing. The 3D animations are awesome! I was never one to play using the 3D mode but looks like that's about to change. You can actually see the pitch move outside of the plate, for inside and/or outside pitches. The swings and misses are pretty cool too.. there's so many little changes I can't describe them all until I've spent enough time with the game.

Bottom line OOTP19 takes the series to a whole new level!

What is this? I don't see this view when I play the game.

First time playing OOTP, so i really don't know the major differences along the years. I bought '18 for $20 and have been playing for a couple weeks to get used to it. And I'm now obviously playing '19 like all you guys.

For a hardcore baseball fan that loves the bcakground management and stats of baseball, this is an amazing game. I'm mad I haven't been playing for previous years. I am overwhelmed with how much data is in this game and all of the different information you can drill down to obtain. You can literally interact with any aspect of the organization.

I feel bad for my wife because I may be mentally MIA for a week or so, as I play the hell out of this game in anticipation for the real Opening Day. Just wanted to thank all involved for such an amazing baseball sim.

Also, I forgot the question I wanted to ask to OOTP veterans or members of the team.

What is challenge mode all about? I understand you can't use 'commissioners mode' and the constraints that it puts on things. But is it just to challenge yourself or does it enter you in some pool of players for rewards or something?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, i'm hoping eventually be able to edit pants, including length, and sock style.

And with this version I can start getting action screen prints of players and using them for baseball cards. The hope is that I can make cards like this: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Xe8AeWSNE1...key+Mantle.jpg

You get to compare yourself against other players. No rewards except bragging rights, but that's a reward in and of itself

I made a custom view for the ballparks. That screenshot was move with highlights. Right now the views are static, so this view wouldn't be a good view to watch a game.

Cool nicely done. Thanks for the response.

Also thanks to the user who answered my question on Challenge mode. That sounds pretty cool. It is worth it to be compared to your peers. Challenge mode it is, then.

something along the lines of Xbox achievements is how I see it. I also like how it disables commish mode.

Impressions:

1. I'm disappointed that no progress has been made on adding and deleting subleagues to make the league structure accurate. Nine teams instead of eight is progress, and it was nice to see all the players on the correct teams after disabling the inaugural draft.

2. Because the league structure is still not accurate, playing an accurate schedule requires entering all the games by hand. The as-played 1871 schedule won't import because the structure is different. Ugh. That's going to be a major pain in the 1890s.

3. Defensive ratings are the best I've seen in any version of the game. There is differentiation between the starters, the good defensive teams defend better, and the players with reputations as defenders have better ratings.

4.Errors seem a little light, which is consistent with previous versions and leads to lower scoring, but my sample size is way too small to be definitive about that.

5. I may be the only one reading PBP in this 3D era, but I appreciate the improvements.
I like the work they did with 19th century leagues. I know that they want to make it easy for most players. Problem with 18 was that they made it harder for 19th century simmers. I have found this version to be like version 17.
I am able to have expansion teams go to the correct league and players go to their correct teams as rookies. I am also able to import schedules with no problem.
I also don't have all teams folding when going to a new year after deviating from the games built in expansion.
And the team history is correct. So for example the Middletown Mansfields are a one year team and not a relocation team from the Chicago White Stockings.
I am still checking a few things but I will
share what ive learned if it will help.
So far i really like the game.

I'm from Boston. Huge Red Sox fan since berth. I'm old enough where I went through the pain of the 86' WS, along with the frustration in the 90's and early 2000's. And then also the amazing last 12-13 years. Only thing I miss was how bad our fan base used to want/need to win. It was a passion that was hard to describe. The winning has certainly changed that, and not all in a good way. Cubs fans will understand in the next few years.

Don’t have access to download?

I bought the pre-order this afternoon and don’t have access to download the game for whatever reason. It’s telling me I have to wait until 3/22. Help would be appreciated!!

Edit: my son figured it out

What schedule did you import for 1871? Did you change the league structure manually? I'm trying to avoid that, because I think it will just flip back to two leagues in 1872.

Looks great! Nice job!

Question though, pitcher movement is very low compared to other years, whats the reasoning for this? Thanks!

Well, pitchers are allowing a lot more HR's than they have in past years, the most in baseball history last year, and since movement is basically a proxy in-game for HR proneness...

NYY#23 helped me so I will help you.

1. Create a fictional league
2. Switch to Historical teams
3.Select the teams you want
4. Create your league.
5. Bring up your league screen and on the right click global settings and associate the league with your tournament.
6. PLAY BALL!!
