The one thing I will say is that I build all of my modern leagues "Orcin-style."
The main thing is his financials. No setup I have ever used has ever performed as brilliantly as his do.

St. Louis Cardinals (82-58) @ Chicago Cubs (69-70)
Let’s be honest… there’s no chance that the Cubs will catch us in the division race. They just aren’t playing that well (3-9 in their last 12 games). However, we won’t relax until the magic number hits zero. We are 6-3 against the Cubs this season, and these final three games of the season series could pound the final nails in their coffin. September 10, 2021: G141 (83-58, 1st, +13.5G, M#9) Star: STL SP Jose Flores 9 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, game score of 89 The Cubs put today’s starter, 37-year-old SP Zack Grienke, on conditional waivers. Grienke’s 2022 option has vested at $7.6 million, and perhaps the Cubs are hoping someone will take that obligation off their hands. Or, maybe there is a trade in the works. Grienke is 11-13 with a 4.23 ERA in 212 IP, with 155 K’s against only 44 walks. He is still a decent back-end starter, albeit a bit over-priced and fragile. September 11, 2021: G142 (84-58, 1st, +14.5G, M#7) Star: STL SP Gerald Thompson 7.1 IP, 8 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 5 K A moment of silence was observed before the game to mark the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Kolten Wong hurt his foot running the bases and will be out for two weeks. It is just as well. He was banged up and will need the time to get healthy for the post-season. September 12, 2021: G143 (85-58, 1st, +15.5G, M#5) Star: STL 2B Franklin Barreto 3-4, RBI, RS That sound you hear is the Cubs season coming to an end. They were able to trade Zach Grienke to Minnesota for the #2 pitching prospect in MLB, 20-year-old Carlos Vazquez. It’s a decent consolation prize. Thanks for playing “N.L. Central” this year. Players of the Week: AL: BOS 3B B.A. Vollmuth 10-24, 3 HR, 8 RBI NL: PIT 2B Gian-Andrea Massari 13-28, 5 RS (leads the majors in BAVG, OBP & Hits) |

Milwaukee Brewers (53-91) @ St. Louis Cardinals (85-58)
The Brewers are playing out the string and trying to avoid 100 losses. The Redbirds are trying to catch the Dodgers for best record in the N.L. (5.5 games back with 18 to play). September 13, 2021: G144 (86-58, 1st, +15.5G, M#4) Star: STL LF Vance Knox 2-5, HR, 5 RBI (grand slam) Oscar Taveras was 4-5 in the game. Pedro Solis picked up a three-inning save. The Los Angeles Dodgers suffered another serious injury today. Closer Gabe Herrera (37 saves, 2.10 ERA) will have reconstructive surgery on his elbow with an estimated recovery time of 12 months. September 14, 2021: G145 (87-58, 1st, +15.5G, M#3) Star: STL SP Trevor Rosenthal 7 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 9 K The Cardinals stole eight bases in the game, including one by catcher Jorge Alfaro. September 15, 2021: G146 (87-59, 1st, +15.5G, M#2) Star: MIL SS Stephen Alemais 3-4, HR, RBI, 2 RS The Minnesota Twins became the first team to lock up a precise playoff spot by clinching the A.L. Central. Last edited by Orcin; 05-22-2014 at 09:33 AM. |

You didn't fix the one I saw three times in the post of the Cubs series.
![]() But this here is perfection in more than one sense.

"The Minnesota Twins became the first team to lock up a precise playoff spot by clinching the A.L. Central."
I had just literally never seen you make a typo. LOL, they seem to irk you something awful. ![]() I do have a question, do you still have the CBA going through the years, or is it just in stasis since you made the crossover? I know its one of those "once you make the jump, you can't go back" situations -- just curious if you were simulating it through the years still?

Nope. It is in limbo, but never say never. Don Braswell and a few other readers will remember that I suspended a dynasty back in the PureSim forum, started a new league, played a year, and then (ala Bobby Ewing in Dallas) declared it all to be a dream and picked up the first league where it left off. Of course, now that I have told that one, I can't do it here. ![]() Yep, I hate typos. I try to use correct punctuation too. My son says I am anal. And I would never have Zach GREINKE on my team - name is too hard to spell. |

As usual Sal is confused. Does not this "precise" mean that they have not just clinched a playoff spot but that they have clinched a spot as division champion? In Sal's world, this is not the typo. This is the language Sal speaks and hears.
As Sal has said many, many times, Mr. Orcin does not the mistake make. Except, well, for his friendship with Sal. That is an error in more than just judgment. |

Atlanta Braves (76-70) @ St. Louis Cardinals (87-59)
The Braves still have a pulse, but that’s about all. Lefty SP Kyle Petter (salary of $500K) is having his career year (12-6, 2.89 ERA, 174 IP, 207 K) for them. On the flip side, 3B Miguel Sano (salary of $14M) is hitting .177 with a .597 OPS. September 16, 2021: G147 (88-59, 1st, +15.5G, M#1) Star: STL 2B Hector Rios drove in the tying and winning runs with a walk-off triple. September 17, 2021: G148 (89-59, 1st, +15.5G, CLINCHED!) Star: STL 2B Hector Rios 2-2, DBL, 2 RBI LF Vance Knox hurt his wrist on a defensive play and will be out for 10 days. The division-clinching win leaves us four games behind the Dodgers for the best record in the National League. September 18, 2021: G149 (90-59, 1st, +16.5G) Star: STL SP Taijuan Walker 9 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 13 K September 19, 2021: G150 (90-60, 1st, +16.5G) Star: STL RF Oscar Taveras 3-5, 2 HR, 4 RBI The Philadelphia Phillies clinched the National League East, becoming the third team to punch their playoff ticket. Players of the Week: AL: BOS 3B B.A. Vollmuth 11-19, 1 HR, 8 RBI (second straight week) NL: STL RF Oscar Taveras 12-26, 2 HR, 5 RBI For the record, I made a mistake trading Vollmuth and keeping Ryder Jones. I guessed that Vollmuth would be hurt often and Jones would build on his previous season and become a star. I was wrong on both counts. Minor Leagues
The Memphis Redbirds swept the Sacramento River Cats to win the Pacific Coast League (AAA) championship. Second baseman Andre Hicks hit .375 with 3 HR and 7 RBI in the four games. After their series finished, LF Victor Sharp and C Logan Ice were called up to give the major league regulars a few extra days off down the stretch. The Redbirds also released three veteran players with minor league contracts: MR Jordan Swagerty, C Marcos Villanueva, and LF Max Walla. The Palm Beach Cardinals won the Florida State League championship 4-1 over the Clearwater Threshers. Several of the better Palm Beach players finished the season in Springfield (AA). Personnel Memphis pitching coach Bryan Eversgerd left at the end of their season as expected. There are two outstanding rookie pitching coaches on the market: 48-year-old LaTroy Hawkins and 38-year-old Brandon League. I will have two opening in the organization, and ideally I would hire both of these guys. I want to hire them at the lowest level that they will accept, which is tricky because I can’t offer a job that isn’t open. Peoria pitching coach Sil Campusano is very highly paid ($450K) for his level. He has two years left on his contract, and I decided to promote him to the open AAA position. This allows me to see if one or both of the candidates would be interested in low-A. In fact, both coaches were interested in the position on a three-year contract. I decided to offer the job to League, because he wanted the higher salary. Jupiter (low-Rookie) will finish their season soon, and Hawkins will be offered the job there. |

Arizona Diamondbacks (77-73) @ St. Louis Cardinals (90-60)
The Diamondbacks are in third place in the N.L. West, 16 games behind the Dodgers. Arizona was ravaged by injuries this year, with catcher Travis d’Arnaud as the latest casualty (quad strain). They rank in the middle of the N.L. in both runs scored and allowed. We are 3-4 vs. the Diamondbacks this season. September 20, 2021: G151 (90-61, 1st, +15.5G) Star: ARI SP Lance Day 8 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K September 21, 2021: G152 (91-61, 1st, +15.5G) Star: STL DH Tarou Sano 2-3, 2 HR, 4 RBI Gerald Thompson (8 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 9 K) is making a case for a spot in the 4-man playoff starting rotation. The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres have clinched playoff spots, but the N.L. West title is technically still up for grabs. The Dodgers lead by 5 with 11 to play. September 22, 2021: G153 (91-62, 1st, +15.5G) Star: ARI SP Antonio Bernal 7.1 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 10 K |

Minor League Personnel
I decided against my earlier plans to put a new staff at Jupiter. Instead, I moved Jupiter hitting coach Mendy Lopez up to low-A Peoria, pairing him with newly-hired pitching coach Brandon League (under manager Joey Cora). I like to put new staff members in place as a unit where possible, and even synchronize their contracts if it works out. In order to get Lopez to Peoria, I moved Springfield hitting coach Erik Pappas to Jupiter. I also moved Springfield pitching coach Hector Berrios to Jupiter. Manager Mike Shidlt’s contract was not renewed (and he was not happy about it). These moves now leave Springfield (AA) with three open positions that can be filled as a unit. I see some good candidates on the market, and I want to get a jump on other teams for these openings. I offered three-year contracts at Springfield to (Manager) Manny Acta, (Pitching Coach) LaTroy Hawkins, and (Hitting Coach) Larry Infante. All three accepted the next day. I want to upgrade my staff whenever possible, but I can’t afford to fire every incumbent simultaneously. I will only use that option to grab the cream of the crop, but the odds are high that I will sign one or two more good coaches before the hiring season is over. At the very least, I will be hiring a new manager at Jupiter after their season ends. I think Jupiter’s success was due to a strong draft class. Organizational Roster Planning The AAA team will be stocked with 12-15 secondary roster players, a few veterans on minor league contracts, and a couple of good prospects that don’t require secondary roster protection yet. I don’t plan to offer minor league contracts to aging players that are eligible for minor league free agency. If they haven’t made the secondary roster by now, they need to move over for younger talent. The AA roster will include the best of the prospects that were in the system when I took over a year ago. The most promising prospects with 1-2 years pro experience will go as a group to Peoria (A). The best of last year’s draft class will be split between Peoria and State College (short-A), depending primarily upon age. The roster at Palm Beach (A) will comprise the remaining players in the organization that have 3 or more years of experience. It is time to sink or swim for all of the players that will man the Palm Beach roster, and the same applies to those at Springfield. Lesser “long-shot” prospects will fill the Johnston City (Rookie) roster. The new draft class and academy-grad international prospects will be together at Jupiter (Rookie). |

Orcin,
I don't play or even own OOTP Baseball at the moment. I came across "Orcin's Story" merely by chance while checking out reviews for OOTP. I created a profile in this forum primarily to write this reply. Over the past week I read "Orcin's Story" and "Orcin Returns" from start to finish. I just wanted to drop by to say congratulations for these great dynasty stories and thank you for writing them. I enjoyed reading about the exploits of you, your team and your league while having the luxury of not having to patiently wait for updates. Again, Kudos for a job well done. |

St. Louis Cardinals (91-62) @ Pittsburgh Pirates (71-82)
The Pirates are 1-8 against the Cardinals this season. They were just swept in a 3-game series at Miami. So naturally, there is concern that this series could be a potential stumbling block in our quest for home field advantage. We need to keep winning. September 23, 2021: OFF Johnston City SP Millard Skinner was named Appalachian League Pitcher of the Year. Skinner was 7-5 with a 2.41 ERA in 13 starts. The 20-year-old right-hander was drafted in 2019 (round 15) out of high school. The New York Yankees have clinched the A.L East with win #100 over Seattle. September 24, 2021: G154 (91-63, 1st, +16G) Star: PIT 2B Gian-Andrea Massari: grand slam off Walker in the third inning We were notified by the trainers that Vance Knox was progressing slowly in his recovery from a sore wrist. He will sit out for the rest of the regular season. September 25, 2021: G155 (92-63, 1st, +16G) Star: STL SS J.P. Crawford 3-3, HR, 3 RBI (GWRBI) You may recall Rosenthal’s last start against Pittsburgh on August 18. There were a few balls that “got away” in that one. So, it came as no surprise that a bench-clearing brawl ensued when Rosenthal beaned Pittsburgh’s Juan Vasquez in the second inning today. Rosenthal and Vasquez were ejected for fighting and suspended for five games. September 26, 2021: G156 (93-63, 1st, +17G) Star: STL SS J.P. Crawford 2-5, 2 SB, 2 RS The National League playoff teams are now set as the Dodgers wrapped up the N.L. West. The Phillies and Cardinals trail the Dodgers by 4 games with 6 to play for home field. The Houston Astros have collapsed down the stretch, and are now tied with the Angels at 82-74 for the A.L. West lead. Houston is 7-16 in September. Players of the Week: AL: CLE C Mike Rodriguez 12-21, 2 HR, 10 RBI NL: WAS LF Pablo Roman 10-23, 2 HR, 3 RBI |
