The Brewers made in interesting against Neil Allen but the Jays held on for the 4-2 win. Ed Whitson pitched a great game an probably could have gone longer if not for the early rain delay. WP - Ed Whitson (9-8) Save - Neil Allen (13) LP - Jerry Koosman (8-9) Record - 44-44

ALL-STAR GAME
Gustavo Pena got the start in the ASG... at third base. Where he has no rating... and he played the whole game, error-free. He did also go 3 for 4 with 2 singles, a double and a sac bunt. It was not enough as the AL fell to the NL 9-4. MVP: Andre Dawson, Phillies. He went 3 for 5 with a home run. Tony Bernazard, Phillies & Cecil Cooper, Twins also hit dingers. WP - Brian Kingman, Padres LP - Larry Gura, Royals

The Post-ASG streak ended with some sloppy defensive play and a poor relief appearance to cap it off my Victor Cruz. Cleveland won 6-1. WP - LaMarr Hoyt (5-1) Save - John Henry Johnson (1) LP - Roger Erickson (7-6) Record - 47-45

The Jays' hitters bailed out rookie Owen Haynes in his major league debut and it came down to a walk-off walk with two out in the ninth by Adrian Young to give Toronto the 6-5 win over Cleveland. Skip McBeath went 4 for 5 with 2 RBI and Gustavo Pena hit a solo homer. John Howell led the game early with an undisclosed injury. That would be a costly loss as his defense is a huge asset to the team. WP - Doug Corbett (3-4) LP - John Henry Johnson (2-2) Record - 48-45
