Man, the pitchers mound was on the left hashmark of the 50 yard line. If someone hit the ball into the corner, the announcer could say: "The ball lands on the 20, rolls toward the 10, and it bounces around the goal line."

It's a foregone conclusion that the A's are the AL West division winners, especially with a magic number of 5.

Texas might not even make the playoffs, ha. (For which I'm heartily thankful!)

I wasn't listening but people were saying that Ken Korach did a call like that during the game the other night. "He's at the 30, the 20, and at the 10 he makes the catch."

Now if we could just figure out what to do with Balfour. I'm thinking (read: hoping!) closing duties in the postseason will be a matchup based committee between Balfour and Doolittle.

Trade him to Houston for a PTBNL.

I hope the PTBNL is a pitcher whose last name is Strikethree.

No, it'll probably be Phil Coke in a complicated three-way deal with Washington and Detroit...

Heck, I'd sell him to you for a plugged nickel, he's been so bad this year.

Both Balfour and Cook have been pretty bad recently. Unless they pull it together, we're gonna have a hard time in a short series against a quality opponent.

Seems likely at this point that the A's will meet the Cats in the first round. If that's the case, I think the A's are gonna take the series, because the Tigers have too many issues at this point, ranging from offensive woes to major bullpen issues. Without Miggy at full strength, the team doesn't really have much of a punch.

We'll see, of course, but the A's certainly look primed and poised for a deep run.

I think they're better constructed for short series than they have been in the past.

But that probably means they'll get swept in round 1.

With the win last night, the A's have clinched home field advantage for at least the ALDS. They still have a chance to get best record over Boston and play the Wild Card team, but even if it's the Tigers again, it's home for Games 1, 2, & 5.

Have the A's decided the postseason roster yet? Since the last month or so had some unexpected producers, I wonder if the organization will take that into account.

I don't want to say it, but Barton played well (and a lot) during September, I wonder if he gets in. And what about Anderson? He looked awful, will he make it?

No announcement yet, but I'm expecting the following:

- Barton will make it, Freiman will not
- They'll carry 3 catchers
- Anderson will be on it, in the bullpen

Actually let me just do my guess at the 25:

SP - Colon, Parker, Gray, Griffin (4)
RP - Balfour, Doolittle, Cook, Anderson, Blevins, Otero, Chavez (7)
C - Norris, Vogt, Suzuki (3)
IF - Donaldson, Lowrie, Sogard, Callaspo, Barton, Moss (6)
OF - Crisp, Reddick, Cespedes, Smith, Young (5)

Notable omissions: Freiman, Straily, Milone, Neshek
