One more loss and the Maple Leafs are done. Then I'll let out an evil laugh and drink all the tears of the (all too many brain dead) Leafs fans!

I'm cheering for the Islanders also, however it won't matter if my Sens play the Pens as Anderson will carry the defensive side of the team.

I am just happy that something good happened to the Islanders.
They are probably the worst ran franchise in major North American sports coupled with having possibly the worst arena/stadium in major North American sports. They have a horrible ownership in place too who made some terrible decisions with some expensive long term contracts. Just an all around sorry state for the franchise. I am glad they have made a playoff return and have some very exciting young players. The move to the Barclay's center is also a very very positive thing. It is a fantastic state of the art facility and should really help their revenues. Last edited by rudel.dietrich; 05-11-2013 at 12:39 PM. |

The Marlins despite their horrible roster are actually pretty attractive given that they have a brand new stadium. The Islanders on the other hand are still stuck in Uniondale for two more seasons. |

As for Loria, he's ruined the Marlins and the Expos, and has run both franchises extremely poorly. Also, after he pulled the wool over the City's eyes on the Stadium deal, the one real Pro Franchise in Miami, the Dolphins, can't get anything from the City/State to help with a stadium. They can thank Mr. Loria for that. And you consider that as being better run than the Islanders? |

Up by three goals with less than 10 minutes to play... and the Leafs blow it.
There's no joy in Mud-- er -- Toronto tonight. |

I've said it before and I'll say it again: as long as MLSE owns the club it'll never win a Stanley Cup. |

Well, here we go - two long time franchises in the final.
Leafs really woke a sleeping giant in the Bruins. They have been playing sound hockey and are rolling. Talk about clicking on all cylinders - great goaltending, amazing "D", timely and effective "O". I don't think anybody really thought a sweep of the Pens was possible, but I had the B's to win in 6 in my pool. Very impressive job by the entire Bruins team in shutting down to prolific players like Malkin and Crosby. They have to be the slight favourites in the final. However, having given credit to Boston, I also must give the Hawks their due. They are a hi-offense team like Pitt, but better defensively. They just beat a very strong shut-down style team in 5 games and scored 14 goals in those 5 games. They also did it against one of the elite goalies in the league. So they are certainly capable of winning this, and I don't see them as underdogs anymore than I do Boston. I hope this goes at least 6, and even 7 would be sweet. I hope both teams bring their A+ game every game, will make a real treat for hockey fans. Ok, I guess I'll pick the Hawks in 7. Interesting factoid: Despite the longevity of both franchises, they have only ever met in the play-offs 6 times. The Bruins hold a 5-1 edge in series wins. 1927 QF - two game total goals. Bruins win 6-1 and tie 4-4 for a 10-5 series win. 1942 QF - Bos wins best of three 2-1 1970 SF - Bos sweeps Chi 4-0 1974 SF - Bos wins 4-2 1975 PR - CHi wins 2-1 1978 QF - Bos sweeps Chi 4-0 |

Well I cant' speak to the 30's, but the Bruins and Hawks if I remember right were pretty terrible for decades at a time. CHicago had a blip in the 60's, Boston had their Orr years in the early 70's, and by the time both became consistent in their success, they were thrown into completely different conferences.

Heh, I love all those so-called hockey "experts" on HNIC who all agreed it would be Pittsburgh beating Boston in six games. I thought to myself, have these guys not seen what Boston did to Toronto and then to the Rangers? The Bruins were looking incredibly good. Lo and behold, they wipe out the Pens in four straight.
These hockey "experts" sure blew that call. |

It starts tonight! Lets Go B's! If they can steal one in Chitown, they will be in better shape than in 2011.

Next to the complete choke job by the Leafs, this has to be very close. 2 goals in the final two minutesto blow a lead by the Bruins. Chara looked human, the Bruins couldnt run the Hawks out of town like they did with the Downey soft Canucks of a few years ago. Congrats to the Hawks and may Bryan Bickell become a Hab soon.

I must say, I've been celebrating this Hawks victory for several hours now, and it is truly amazing considering the situation we were in. I truly believe the two best teams were in the finals, and I feel partially awful for the Bruins fans and team who must have had their heart ripped from their chest. But I can wax poetic for several dola posts about how proud i am to be a fan of this team. In fact, I might...
