That's intriguing. I sent Cubbyfan back his set with the text correctly set to 2007 (and it was definitely working at my end). |

Hmm. . . .
It was definately the fresh download from earlier today. Also I haven't altered anything as I wanted to sim the whole season without adjusting anything. It is weird though as when I'm simming it does say the correct date! ![]() I can live with it if its a glitch, no big deal. Last edited by ukslamjam; 06-29-2007 at 12:33 PM. |

Okay here are my results of simming a season with the Detroit Tigers using Cubby's updated roster set.
First off, I got an error on June 20th saying that my GCL team had only 6 players on it and so I had to fill the rest of the team with fictional players. I tried simming again and then I got another error saying that Burlington did not have enough players. They are in the Appalachian League, so I filled that league with fictional players. I stopped the simulation on July 8th to take a look at some things. Here's what I found (keep in mind I turned trading off and let my manage control everything: -Free Agents: Octavio Dotel, Orlando Hernandez, Mike Stanton, Randy Wolf, Julian Tavarez, LaTroy Hawkins, Tim Wakefield, Jaret Wright, Jeff Weaver, Jarrod Washburn, David Wells, Kenny Lofton, Shawn Green, Jose Guillen, Reggie Sanders, Matt Stairs, Ryan Klesko, Dave Roberts. These are just some of the bigger names. There were a good amount of players that I don't think should've been released. -Verlander and Miller were sent down to AAA. I can understand Miller, but VERLANDER!? Miner and Tata were called up to start. -Pudge was batting .203! -Sean Casey was sent down to AAA, along with Granderson. -Cameron Maybin was starting and hitting .282 -The only person hitting above .300 was Craig Monroe....go figure...and he's only used as a pinch hitter. -Marcus Thames has 24 HRs, not too bad. Guillen's hitting .223, Ordonez .278 and Sheffield .231. -There's only 4 guys in the AL batting over .300 -Frank Thomas leads the league in HRs with 28 At the end of the season: Bonderman - 11-15, 3.60 ERA Miner - 13-9, 4.29 ERA Rogers - 13-9, 4.76 ERA Verlander - 3-9, 3.90 ERA, in AAA Miller eventually got sent down to AA as a Spot Starter/Reliever Granderson - Batted .267 in AAA Monroe eventually was sent down to AAA Casey was eventually called up to AAA at the end of the season Pudge batted .197 for the season I had no .300 hitters on my team Thames finished with 42 HRs Detroit finished at 79-83 Yankees finished at 99-63 Tampa Bay finished at 91-71 Delmon Young won the AL batting title with a .311 AVG Glaus hit 51 HRs Longoria hit .302 while slugging .553 Berkman won the NL batting title with a .317 AVG Ryan Howard hit 52 HRs Callaspo batted .309 with the Diamondbacks Mussina and Santana won 22 games Hughes won 21 games Hochevar lost 16 games Webb's ERA was 2.22 Lincecum struck out 188 A few more known free agents, like Esteban Loaiza. Highest Team Batting Average - .270 (Tampa Bay) Lowest Team Batting Average - .236 (Kansas City) Average Team Batting Average - .245 Lowest Team ERA - 3.40 (Minnesota) Highest Team ERA - 4.95 (Kansas City, they lost 103 games) Average Team ERA - 4.10 That's about all that I can think of. Nothing TOO crazy, but definitely some things that we wouldn't expect would happen, but isn't that baseball. This set is pretty awesome, some tweaking is going to make it phenomenal! |

Hmm -- I thought I had tweaked league totals to be a lot better than that, but apparently not. Let me play around with it for a bit and see if I can fix that really quick.

Just simmed a season, didn't change any ratings. I'm not sure if this is a coincidence (after reading the previous post i don't think it is) but:
-The highest AVG in the AL was Justin Morneau, who hit .300. Only 4 players in the AL hit over .290, Joe Mauer with .295, Ichiro with .293, and Carl Crawford with .293. -In the MLB, the two highest averages were Ryan Howard with .305 and Albert Pujols with .302 -On the Red Sox, the highest AVG on the TEAM was David Ortiz, who hit an astonishing .257. He was also the Sox HR leader with 31. -The Red Sox finished 72-99, in fourth place. I think this was mostly just bad luck, however, as most of their players ratings seemed to plummet after ST. For some reason it seems like batting averages were way down in both leagues. (league averages: AL- .246, NL- .245)

Yeah it's not a coincidence, I must have forgotten to tweak the league totals when I released it. Coming up with a new group of totals here in a sec.

something kinda strange when i started my game.
I switch on waivers and DFA periods to be realistic. As soon as i do this and add my human manager, all kinds of excellent prospects (including Homer Bailey and several others with potential talent of 60+) and some decent players (guys with talent of 45+) appear on waivers. Strangely tho, if i put in a claim for any of them, my claim is accepted, but instead of joining my team they all get released. This leaves a pretty good FA pool to start the season? Not sure if anything can be done to fix this, but it does make it a bit unrealistic to be able to pick up this kind of talent on waiver or FA? Great work with the rosters tho, few tweaks and they will be perfect :-) Cheers |

So how do I make trades with Seattle, cubby? So I'd have to match the salaries exactly with cash? Match total salaries or just what they're making that year?

Alright I'll upload a new version, but here's the league totals to use for those who don't want to go to all that trouble just to tweak one thing:
AB: 167341 H: 44573 2B: 9135 3B: 9135 HR: 5286 BB: 18646 HBP: 6817 K: 32655 BABIP: .305 Fielding Errors = 1.300 Got some great results with these. Last edited by CubbyFan23; 06-29-2007 at 04:52 PM. |

Found another strange glitch.
Like i said above, i switched on waivers (3 days) and DFA period (10 days). on league rules, it shows active roster size as "25". Yet on my team transaction screens it allows me to have up to 40. Any ideas? |

You're not in the regular season at the start so roster expansion is in operation until the end of Spring Training.

^^ Bingo, players on your "40 person active roster" won't get major league contracts unless you keep them on it after spring training is over and you go back to 25-man rosters.

Uploading in a second, adding in some FA's for good measure at the last second here so there's at least some initial guys there.

Ah... D'oh.....
Think i was caught out because on whatever universe i played on previously, the 25 man kicked in before the regular seasons..... if we can just figure out why so many guys get released and waived..... i traded the same guy twice, only to get him back on waivers the next day on both days.....(Dallas Braden) |

I think the key may just be to hold off on claiming people until teams get their rosters set, but I'm not sure.

That is certainly odd. I thought perhaps the problem may have been that the teams need to put them on waivers because they're out of option years, but the guys you're mentioning have 0 options used.
Anyone with thoughts? |
