OK, I hate Oakland as much as the next guy, mainly because of everyone's infatuation with Billy Beane and Michael Lewis's Moneyball. They do have my boy #35, so I at least have a single player over there I like.

Anyhow...

Why the bunt in the 9th inning by Kendall? Isn't that forbidden with penalty of death or dismemberment? Did Macha call the play?

Also, for a team that prides itself on the walk first philosophy, they only had 5 BB to 7 K's. Whats up with that?

Because Kendall is a GIDP machine, and one out is less than two.

It's all about managing the outs

So my Dad calls me at work and says my Uncle has 4 tickets for the game tonight...

Right on the field...

Look for the guy in the goatee yelling WANG as much as possible. That'll be me.

First of all - a sac bunt increases the chances of scoring 1 run. Second - Kendall is a weak-hitting catcher who isn't likely to move the runner past 2nd with a ball in play. Third - Players sometimes act on their own. Maybe Kendall doesn't like how Proctor throws and felt he had no chance up there. I don't know the history of Proctor vs. Kendall but maybe Kendall is hitless against him. I haven't heard where the call came from so I'm just speculating, but there's a number of reasons why it could have been a good move. And, again, it's Jason freaking' Kendall.

Why are you talking about walks in relation to strike outs? The A's had 5 walks and 29 at bats last night. According to the A's organizational rule (you don't get promoted if you don't walk at least once per every 10 at bats), last night's game was excellent.

It's a marathon, not a sprint.

Gibson swings, and a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, 5 to 4; I don't believe what I just saw! I don't believe what I just saw!

I know. But I watch practically every game so it feels like a sprint each day.

Frank Thomas hitting a ground ball off Jeter's face was fun to watch.

One thing I hate about MLB TV is having to deal with other teams' announcers. The Yankees guys are busy drooling over Jeter's flip in Game 3 of the 2001 ALDS. :vomit:

Michael Kay saying Thomas has no shot at the Hall is funny to hear though.

Thanks to Bradley and Big Hurt (and Robinsion Cano), it's broken wide open! 9-4 A's!

Thanks to Comcast ... I missed it. The game was scheduled to go off air at 10 and "Friends" is supposed to come on. Of course, "Friends" is blacked out ... so they don't even stop to think there is a game on still and just black it out. Grrr.

Given the ticket prices, I don't think I'll hit as many games this year. It's almost cheaper to go to a Giants game at AT&T Park (and get a better seat).

The capacity at the Coliseum is now 35,000. The bigger question is what happens in October? Now they never fill those seats for the ALDS, but say the A's make the World Series. They certainly would open Upper Reserved and Mount Davis than, right?

You would think they'd open it up for playoffs and World Series. I don't see any logic in not doing that because they'd definitely sell.
