Taki battles, and I mean battles, to a QS as he pitched himself into and out trouble all day. Bullpen gets it done, 1 R in 3 INN.

Like Taki last game, Martinez Jr battles in and out of trouble for the QS, and the bullpen does their thing.

Harris changed from SP to RP/ST. The stamina of 35 isn't going to be that great with his other ratings ... but as a stopper/RP he may be able to get 100-120 IP at a high level.

Melchor was hit all over the ballpark in his first poor start. Fuller delivers 2 bombs, his only HR of the season.

Also, through 36 games, Birmingham has not had a single top 3 performance of the day yet.

The 2-2 split with Carolina leaves both teams tied for 1st place.

Chourio is having an excellent month of May, and surprising is in competition for Player of the month (no kidding).
A surprising stat that kind of snuck up on me, RF Nick Calloway has 28 RBI in 37 games.

Booska really had to work for this QS.
King continues to struggle, but we're going to try and getting him regular work ... and he's either going to pitch himself into productive or be demoted.
Gauer is now 11-11 in Save Opps.

So many close games, so far. Curd and Kortz get it done with the bat.

Steward pitched great and won the pitcher's duel
Moore and Gauer solid in relief.
Gauer's 12 saves lead the East at the moment.

Chourio and Calloway lead the way on offense. Chourio keeps his great May going.

Taki had to work extra hard due to defensive woes.
Glaze struggled in relief, but Harris picked him up, and Steven finished it off, with Gauer taking a breather after saves in consecutive games.

We're thrilled with 9 games over .500, and we ... get this ... just now have a positive Run Differential with +1.

This was a weird game for the Boars ... 19 hits, but only 4 runs. At one point, after 3 innings, the team had 1 run on 10 hits.

The team was, strangely getting a lot of men on base early, but only going station to station, and then making consecutive outs without scoring runners.

Martinez Jr was very good, but King is absolutely killing us.

When you go up against the reigning CYA winner, Crosson, you're not likely to win. Earlier in the season Bama battled Crosson to a 2-2 game through 7. This time Crosson shut the door, CG 2H SHO 10 K.

Sharp gets the only 2 hits vs Crosson, LvL no less ... and another surprising stat that's woken us up ... Sharp is batting .340.

Melchor with another tough luck QS, going 0-5.
With the game mostly decided, we gave King another chance at redemption. He did not redeem.

Bottom of the order coming through for the Boars.

Boo with another QS, tied for the league lead in wins with 6.
Glaze solid out the pen.
King did not pitch.

Sharp has mild ab strain, 4 weeks, and starting to show it.

We're back baby!! ... we're not, but at least we didn't make like a pile of dust ... and get swept.

Calloway and O'Neal provide *some* offense. Oh yeah, after a week in 3A, O'Neal hit well and was recalled. Man, we need offense.

Taki takes the QS L, we have some ugly QS around here.
Harris and a good 3 IP outing are becoming his expectation.

Sharp 2H and injury worsens.

Martinez a good QS and W.
Bullpen awesome.

A coupla trades ...

We're stacked at backup catchers, so we're looking for more useful pieces.
I'm really not sure what I was thinking in the moment as Laboy really doesn't help much ... but we did move up in the 2nd round as a result.

Fuller is a decent piece, but he's a R5 draft pick, so he's not able to be removed from active roster, and we have other needs.

Weisoff is injured for the rest of the season, but is a decent SP development piece ... which also makes him pretty good trade bait.

Also gained another 2nd round pick ... where the draft is our focus to getting better, and in a hurry.

These are our draft picks for the July 2035 draft.

Our focus is going to be on college batters, great in POW and EYE (with reasonable AVK), which are the most productive batter types, and also the most expensive to acquire in FA or trade.

We have good depth at SP with prospects, so going all in on position players makes sense, unless we are able to drop a "elite starter" potential in the draft.

Looking at our popularity in the organization, we have a few pieces that could serve as backups, while allowing our highest potential players to get the bulk of the playing time.

We have to do something to increase fan interest, or we're going to lose money this season, which could negatively affect our budget next year ... meaning less $ for draft and development.

LF/1B Matt Baker stays productive in his recent callup.
RF Nick Calloway keeps driving in runs, and at the moment, leads all EL RF in All-Star votes.

Rookie SP Fred Steward struggled, but the team stayed in the game. ST Ross Steven entered the game earlier than usual ... kept the Boars in the game until they got to Moore, who suffered the loss.

Baker 3 more hits, but the Boars could not drive him in, tied 1-1 after 8 innings.

Taki was awesome over 6 innings, and Glazman put up 2 scoreless relief innings.
BIR brought in CL Gauer to hold the game 1-1, but he suffered his first meltdown of the season and took the loss.

Team payroll of around 280M, they'll free up another 140M in the offseason with the loss of non-essential FA.
The team is on a 117-Win pace.

Top 3 in the EL for both run production and run prevention, the Crawfish went 22-8 in May and built a considerable lead in the division.
