Ouch, thats going to put a serious dent in Mike's plans for Cotto. It sucks to see your fighter go down in flames right when he was going to be ranked, went through it with Savon and the rebuilding isn't fun.

Napoles suffers first loss of career, Chico Corrales remains unbeaten...
Jose Napoles, Cuba, 9-0-0 (8) vs Diego Corrales, Mexico, 9-0-0 (9)
Auditorio Centenario, Gomez Palacio, DUR, Mexico. Another big and tough fight for Cuba's, Jose "Mantequilla" Napoles as he faces off against another undefeated fighter in Mexico's, Diego "Chico" Corrales. Both fighters come into this bout in tip-top shape. Unbelievably, a big, overhand right, puts Corrales down within 20 seconds of the opening bell. Corrales gets up at nine, but has a long way to go to survive this round. Corrales looks hurt, but does barely make it to the stool, 24-0, Napoles. 14-9, Napoles in the 2nd as the crowd begins to get behind their hometown favorite. A one-sided fight so far as Napoles has taken all five rounds but has sustained a cut over his right eye from a Corrales punch. Napoles convincingly takes the next two rounds but his corner is showing concern because the doctor has come ringside to look at his cut during the last round. The cut has reopened here in the 8th round and the ref has stopped the fight in what has to be an upset here in Mexico. The hometown crowd is going absolutely crazy as Corrales is riding the shoulders of his trainer! Winner: Corrales Result: (TKO8)(Cuts) Cards: 70-62, 69-83, 69-63, all three in favor of Napoles Punch stats: 210-518, 40.5% Napoles - 78-350, 22.3% Corrales |

And then the second stunning upset in a row happens. There must be a 9-0 jinx in the CABO region! Ruiz is breathing a lot better right now! Napoles still enters rankings pretty high due to previous level of competition beaten and loss was to Corrales who was 9-0. Cotto comes in pretty low.

Wow, 2 big losses to active stables.
Juggernaut is keeping it's eyes open for 1 maybe 2 new fighters as Joe Bugner's contract is up and we are not sure whether we are going to renew it. |

Damn, I just can't win with the CABO guys regardless of who I give them for their tenth fight. I knew that a cut would cost Napoles a fight eventually and I'm sure this won't be the last time but Corrales got lucky as hell in that fight. Guess I should forget the CABO title for now and focus on a lower sectional titles and revenge to rebuild my ranking.

Yeah, I thought we might have been looking at a possible undefeated month. Both Cotto and Napoles were winning their fights, even had their opponents down. Just let me know about who you want to sign. Bugner has had a tough run of bad luck. Should have won those two dq'ed fights. |

Napoles still comes in ranked: #44 World (way too high, dont like how the pp allow for this, but just reporting facts. my own fault for setting fights to be ranked at 10, will change to 15 for next uni, but since I started this format, will continue). But Napoles did fight, Casamayor, Cintron, Arguello, PBF and Corrales which is a great resume for only having ten fights. #1 Cuba #2 LABA #4 CABO

Hm, maybe I won't have to turn my attention from the CABO belt after all. I'm thinking maybe a tune up fight in May against a decent opponent, then beat up Gregorio Peralta for the LABA belt, a rematch with Diego next, and after that Napoles should be number 1 in the CABO and get his shot against Stevenson.

We will be looking for an imediate rematch if possible. Ruiz is still a scared little girl but he has an excuse for avoiding Cotto for the time being. |

He did start his career this month with a victory but he is available to be signed. He is one of top European prospects and definitely the top Italian fighter besides Marciano.

I thought the fight was over in the 1st. Also was looking forward to Cotto winning the PRBF title and getting Ruiz out of there because there really is nobody to challenge him right now. I will put Firpo down for a rematch fight for Cotto's next after his layoff. |

Remember, I just adjust some fighters to strengthen some regions. LaMotta, Marciano, Mancini, Basilio - Italy Conn, Cooney, Walker - Ireland Pavlik - Slovakia etc., This helps to add some significant fighters to the EBU region. |

Thanks. NLP not looking to sign anymore prospects? Although, I like the two fighters you have under contract right now. Hagler should definitely have a major impact on the U.S./world scene as soon as he starts to get ranked. Kessler is a highly rated European prospect that should also have some say in what happens in the EBU region. Can see him looking at that Scandinavian title belt real soon.

Hagler moves to 7-0, but suffers a cut in Hawaii...
Marvin Hagler, USA, 6-0-0 (3) vs Billy Vidabeck, USA, 4-0-0
Honolulu Convention Center, Honolulu, HI, USA. Billy is introduced to Hagler's left hook and tastes the canvas in the 1st round. 22-8, Hagler in the 3rd. An accidental head-butt causes a cut over Hagler's right eye here in the 4th. Hagler's corner has done a good job to stop the bleeding as we enter the 6th, but Vidabeck's swelling around his right eye is getting worse. Hagler really gives Vidabeck a lesson in round 7 and aloha means goodbye, as the ref steps in and stops the fight. Winner: Hagler Result: (TKO7) Cards: 60-53, on all three cards in favor of Hagler Punch stats: 108-264, 40.9% Vidabeck - 216-612, 35.3% Hagler

Valdez continues to climb into the CABO spotlight...
Rodrigo Valdez, Colombia, 5-0-0 (4) vs Francisco Risiglione, Argentina, 4-0-0 (1)
Coliseo Bernardo Caraballo, Cartagena, Colombia. Risiglione opens up first but Valdez does a nice job of blocking and landing from the outside in the 1st round, 11-6, Valdez. Valdez continues to control the pace and outscores Risiglione, 11-2 in the 2nd. Momentum is definitely in favor of the hometown fighter as Valdez is efficient and accurate, 23-9, in the 3rd. Risiglione finally solves Valdez's defense and lands some blows in taking the next two rounds. Valdez has Risiglione hurt in the 8th, 9th and 10th rounds. A hook sends Risiglione down after a delayed reaction and Valdez is in complete control of the fight here in the 11th, 30-2. A combination puts Risiglione down again and a hook ends the fight as the ref step in and ends the fight here in the 12th. Winner: Valdez Result: (TKO12) Cards: 109-98, 109-99, 106-102, all in favor of Valdez Punch stats: 207-383, 54% Risiglione - 414-940, 44% Valdez |
