I see I've already missed a couple of good games. I heart Milton Bradley and the good Dan Haren.
I'm on vacation this week and won't be on here much but FTR the A's always do really well when I'm away on a trip. So far 2-0! KUTGW, guys! |

kotsay kielty thomas chavy payton swish scoot ellis Bradley definitely needed a day off. I hate you, Macha. (p.s. Way to hit Kielty 3rd against a lefty, but not pinch hit himi for Ellis against a Lefty with the based loaded. Assbag.)

However, I fully expect him to be in every game against LAAAAAAAAA. Give him a day off against Tampa or something.

It really bothers me that Marco Scutaro is getting paid to play baseball for a living.

Scutaro, OTOH, displayed possibly the worst range of any "shortstop" in the league tonight, followed up by showing that he doesn't have a good enough arm to throw a runner out at home on a ball hit up the middle. Yes, he should have realized he had time to stop, plant, and make a good throw to the plate, not one that was 10 feet up the baseline. Ellis' arm seems to be subpar as well, a strong throw would have sill gotten the runner on the ball Payton bobbled. *sigh* Oh well, at least we have Loaiza going tomorrow. His ERA is over a full run lower when he pitches daygames, 5.35 vs 6.XX.

Some more Marco Scutaro Hatred fodder:
River Cats infielder D’Angelo Jimenez was named the PCL Hitter of the Week for the week of July 24-30, league officials announced today. Jimenez batted a staggering .542 during the week (13-for-24) with 2 home runs, 8 RBI and a .958 SLG, had four multi-hit games and struck out just one time during the week.

There's a good reason why Jimenez has bounced around the league. Trust me, as someone who rooted for the White Sox when Jimenez was in Chicago, you don't want him on the A's. His defense is shoddy, his baserunning is... stupid, to say the least. His hitting is erratic and he's not a great clubhouse guy. He might be marginally better than Scutaro offensively, but that's about it. |

dola,
I think it just might be an "Oakland A's Middle Infielder" curse. We haven't had anybody good since Tejada left (Durham doesn't count). Anybody else think that the 2005 2nd-half Mark Ellis was the fluke, and the other mid 700 OPS guy is the guy we're getting?

A's take series 2-1 & take 1 1/2 lead in the west...
Game 1 1-3
Game 2 3-2 Game 3 2-3 Good series A's, all the games came down to the wire. Its too bad ESPN doesn't recognize our rivalry! I don't know how we couldn't manage more than 2 runs against Loaiza!! We now await Texas for 3 at home..

If Jimenez was really some kind of savior, he wouldn't be in his 6th organization before the age of 29. |

I know it's wrong to root for people to get hurt but this definitely helps.

I wish we could play Seattle 162 times this year.

Seattle's announcers might actually be worse than Anaheim's. Bloomquist hits a pop up to short left field and the call from the braindead PBP guys "That ball hit well into left field, no, it's a pop up."
Edit: Macha has a great argument. Beltre reached his hand up and hit/tried to grab Scutaro. That goes way beyond a hard slide. Of course, these stupid stupid ARRRRRRRGH Mariners announcers don't see it. There's very little in this world more painful than listening to these jackholes.
