1st July 1888 The fans of the Orioles were a little disappointed with their team in June as the month produced another steady set of results. The team went through the month with a record of 11-12 along with a few washed out games. This has seen them drop down the AL table a little to 3rd place, 5 games behind the leaders. Series Results 1-2 at home to the Boston Americans 2-1 at home to the Chicago White Sox 0-2 at home to the Louisville Colonels (1 game suspended in 12th inning due to bad weather, will be completed at a later date) 1-2 on the road to the Cleveland Blues 1-2 on the road to the Washington Nationals 1-1 on the road to the Detroit Wolverines (1 game to be re-arranged due to bad weather) 2-1 at home to the Chicago White Sox 2-0 at home to the Detroit Wolverines went 1-1 to start a road trip to the Louisville Colonels The Injury news was not the best for the Orioles during June. Firstly Tip O'Neill suffered a set back and missed a couple of extra weeks with his injury before returning at the end of the month. The team also lost Pitcher John Connor for 2 weeks of the month with a strained oblique. With the trade deadline looming the team decided to make a change to the squad. They sent 27 year old Third Baseman Billy Shindle to the New York Giants in exchange for 26 year old minor league pitcher Mac MacArthur and 23 year old minor league Catcher Con Daily. The team was solid on the batting front during the month. The top player at the plate was Catcher King Kelly. Kelly played all 23 completed games and managed to claim 31 hits from his 92 at bats. He scored 13 runs with 11 RBI's for an average of .337. Pitching Batting |

1st July 1888 The fans of the Beaneaters are currently hiding away in shame after their team put in possibly the worst month ever in MLB history. The team managed to win only 6 games from the 25 they played during the month. This didn't hurt them to much in the NL table as they dropped to 6th but they are now 15 games behind the leaders. Series Results 2-1 on the road to the Brooklyn Bridegrooms 1-2 on the road to the Chicago White Stockings 1-2 on the road to the Philadelphia Quakers 0-3 at home to the Cincinnati Red Stockings 0-3 at home to the St Louis Browns 1-1 at home to the Brooklyn Bridegrooms 1-2 on the road to the Chicago White Stockings 0-3 on the road to the New York Giants went 0-2 to start home series against the Philadelphia Quakers The injury news was mixed for the Beaneaters. The team lost Left Fielder Emmett Seery for 6 weeks with a strained oblique. Right Fielder Chief Roseman's season continued to be a write off. He returned from a strained oblique mid month only for the injury to re-occur. He will be out for another 8 weeks. The team was busy in the trade market during the month. They traded 27 year old Right Fielder Buck west to the Brooklyn Bridegrooms in exchange for 26 year old Short Stop Milt Whitehead and 22 year old minor league First Baseman George McVey. They also traded 29 year old Pitcher Steve Toole to the Chicago White Stockings in exchange for 24 year old minor league Left Fielder Clarence Murphy and 22 year old minor league Second Baseman Cyclone Ryan. The third trade of the month was 26 year old First Baseman Dan Stearns to the Pittsburgh Alleghenys in exchange for 28 year old Right Fielder Cliff Carroll and 21 year old minor league Catcher George Townsend.
