Argentina - Jr. Flyweights - Round 1

Round 1:

Domingo Santos Aragon 3-1-0 (1) vs Oscar Chausqui 0-1-0 (0) -
Aragon holds a 1-0-0 (1) record against Chausqui with an 8th round KO last time they met. Aragon was dominant again in this one, scoring 3 knockdowns, but 7 fouls spelled the end for him when he was disqualified for a low blow in the 14th giving Chausqui the improbable come from way behind victory! Aragon was up 126-118, 129-115 and 129-115 through the 13th round.

Ramon Rodrigues 0-1-0 (0) vs Fedrico Condori 0-1-0 (0) -
A strong performance by Rodrigues, capped by a knockdown in the 10th and two in the 11th, the final one for the 10 count as Condori was taken to the hospital after the bout for a concussion.

Ignacio Lindor Gorriti 1-1-0 (0) vs Jose Luis Diaz 1-1-0 (1) -
After a close pair of rounds Diaz unleashed a viscious kidney punch that had Gorriti writing in pain on the canvas unable to continue, so Diaz was diqualified for a blatant foul.

Felix Colman 0-1-0 (0) vs Luis Edmundo Gomez 0-1-0 (0) -
The first three rounds were close, but Colman opened a nasty gash on the left eyelid of Gomez in the 4th round that immediately ended the fight for the TKO.

Ramon Horacio Albers 2-1-1 (1) vs Jose Ibiris 1-1-0 (0) -
Albers built up an insurmountable lead only to have a desperate Ibiris score the KO shot late in the 15th round to pull off the come from behind upset!

Ruben Paniagua 2-1-0 (0) vs Juan Ivalo 0-1-0 (0) -
Paniagua and Ivalo put on a good show, but Paniagua opened a cut on the bridge of the nose of Ivalo in the 5th that reopened in the 13th round for the TKO on cuts.

Ramon Jose Cufre 1-1-0 (1) vs Roberto Ledesma 0-1-0 (0) -
Cufre dominated the first five rounds only to have Ledesma dropp him in the 7th round. Cufre survived and weathered the storm nicely then next round as the 8th was the best round of the fight. Cufre scored a knockdown in the 12th round then the 15th round KO shot in a fight that he dominated.

Jose Zarate 0-1-0 (0) vs Jose Luis Lopez 0-1-0 (0) -
A good close bout that saw Zarate down in the 8th, then Lopez inexplicably lost a point on his first foul for rabbit punching in the 13th. With Zarate behind, he came out and tried for the KO in the final two rounds, dominating the 14th then scoring the KO in the 15th round to move forward in the tourney. The score cards were 134-131 Zarate, 132-132 and 132-132 through 14.

Carlos Reyes Sosa 1-1-0 (1) vs Reynaldo Romero 1-1-0 (0) -
A tactical bout that saw Sosa in control from the opening bell, the scorecards were far closer than anyone expected, 144-140, 143-141 and 147-137 for Sosa by unanimous decision.

Argentina - Jr. Flyweights - Round 2

Round 2:

Adrian Daniel Roman 2-1-0 (2) vs Oscar Chausqui 1-1-0 (0) -
Roman dominated, scoring knockdowns in the 8th and 9th before reopening a nasty gash over the left eye of Chausqui in the 13th round for the TKO.

Jose Humberto Lagos 5-1-0 (3) vs Jose Ibiris 2-1-0 (1) -
Lagos dominated every phase of the game, then reopened a cut from earlier in the bout to stop Ibiris in the final frame. The scoring didn't completely show the domination however, as the judges had it 134-131 Ibiris (??) 138-127 Lagos and 139-135 Lagos.

Jose Rafael Sosa 0-1-1 (0) vs Carlos Reyes Sosa 2-1-1 (1) -
Jose Rafael Sosa scored a 1st round knockdown then three more in the 7th round to earn the TKO over Carlos Reyes Sosa.

Rodolfo Rodriguez 0-1-0 (0) vs Jose Zarate 1-1-0 (1) -
The first 5 rounds were close, though it seemed Rodriguez was edging most of them, then in the 6th an overhand right dropped Zarate for an 8 count and Rodriguez pounded away until the referee halted it for the Rodriguez TKO.

Miguel Angel Lazarte 3-1-0 (0) vs Ramon Jose Cufre 2-1-0 (2) -
Lazarte danced well, and used Cufre's straight ahead style to his advantage, catching him lunging in in the 5th for the only knockdown of the bout. Cufre suffered a bad cut on the right eyelid in the 6th that widened repeatedly the rest of the way, finally prompting the stoppage on cuts in the 9th round with Lazarte up on all three cards.

Luis Lazarte 1-1-0 (0) vs Ruben Paniagua 3-1-0 (1) -
Lazarte came in bone dry, and started slowly to allow Paniagua to take the early lead. With Lazarte's corner frantically hydrating him between rounds, Lazarte seemed to find himself in the 10th, scoring the lone knockdown of the bout then taking 4 of the last 5 rounds to pull out the come from behind 146-139, 143-142 and 144-141 decision.

Mario DeMarco 1-1-1 (1) vs Felix Colman 1-1-0 (1) -
Expected to be a tactical bout, both men pushed the other throughout to make an entertaining boxer vs boxer match-up. DeMarco built the lead, but Colman came back strong in the final 5 rounds to close the gap. It was close, with the judges having it 141-144, 143-141 and 144-141 for the winner by split decision, DeMarco.

Ramon Rodriguez 1-1-0 (1) vs Ignacio Lindor Gorriti 2-1-0 (0) -
Toe to toe action with Gorriti scoring 3rd and 5th round knockdowns, Rodriguez was visibly irate and took Gorriti's head with both hands in the 8th and head butted him to earn the immediate DQ.

Argentina - Jr. Flyweights - Quarter-Finals

Quarter-Finals:

Adrian Daniel Roman 3-1-0 (3) vs Ignacio Lindor Gorriti 3-1-0 (0) -
Several close rounds early only to have Roman score an 8th round knockdown and dominate from there against Gorriti to earn the 148-137, 145-140 and 145-139 decision.

Jose Humberto Lagos 6-1-0 (4) vs Mario DeMarco 2-1-1 (1) -
Tactical early, this turned into a brawl towards the end as both men thought they were behind. So many pick-em rounds made for a wild scoring night as the judges had it 141-145, 147-140 and 144-142 for the winner by split decision, Lagos.

Jose Rafael Sosa 1-1-1 (1) vs Luis Lazarte 2-1-0 (0) -
After three close rounds edged by Sosa on my card, Sosa dominated, scoring a 5th round knockdown then really opening up in the 8th after seriously hurting Lazarte with a series of combinations for the TKO in the 8th round.

Rodolfo Rodriguez 1-1-0 (1) vs Miguel Angel Lazarte 4-1-0 (1) -
Rodriguez gradually built a lead despite doing down in the 8th round on a Lazarte hook. Lazarte came back strong, but lost a point for rabbit punching in the 13th then Rodriguez took the final frame to earn the 142-141, 144-139 and 143-140 decision.

Argentina - Jr. Flyweights - Semi-Finals

Semi-Finals:

Adrian Daniel Roman 4-1-0 (3) vs Rodolfo Rodriguez 2-1-0 (1) -
The first 5 rounds were uneventful, but shortly after Rodriguez lost a point for his third foul, an incensed Roman landed a huge combination that put Rodriguez out for the count in the 6th round!

Jose Humberto Lagos 7-1-0 (4) vs Jose Rafael Sosa 2-1-1 (2) -
With both men trading big rounds, this went back and forth with Sosa earning an 10-8 round on all three cards in the 6th. Lagos came back strong in the 7th then finished Sosa when a cut opened that was bleeding so bad there was no choice but to call it in the 8th round.

Argentina - Jr. Flyweights - Final

Final:

Adrian Daniel Roman 5-1-0 (4) vs Jose Humberto Lagos 8-1-0 (5) -
A terrific action bout, particularly in the middle and later rounds saw Lagos up solidly on two of the three cards through the 14th round. In the 15th, Roman came out knowing he needed a strong finish to pull this out, and he scored a 9 count on a brutal hook early in the round then really went to work, landing shot after shot until the referee finally halted the bout for the Roman TKO. Lagos was up 135-132, 134-132 and 132-134 through the 14th. Roman improves to 6-1-0 (5) heading into his first World Tournament.

Argentina - Strawweights - Final

Only two fighters in this division again, so only one bout.

Final:

Hector Luis Patri 0-1-0 (0) vs Carlos Mario Eluaiza 2-1-0 (1) -
The last time these two met the underdog Eluaiza pulled off the decision. This time Patri stalked, but Eluaiza gave him fits, scoring well from outside then sliding away. Patri had his moments however, and it was close after 15, with my card being 143-143 even. The judges saw it 145-141, 144-142 and 143-143 for the winner by majority decision, Eluaiza who improves to 3-1-0 (1) and goes to his second straight World Tournament.

Round 1 - Part 1:

Professor William Miller 0-1-0 (0) vs Joe Askew 0-1-0 (0) -
Miller seemed to be getting the better of it, but a horrific gash on the bridge of his nose in the 3rd round continued to widen until the referee halted the bout in the 6th round on the suggestion of the ring doctor for the Askew TKO upset win.

Tom Lees 2-1-0 (2) vs Dick Atkinson 1-1-0 (0) -
After a solid 1st round Lees scored an early knockdown in the 2nd then poured it on for the TKO as Atkinson clearly was unable to fend for himself at the time of the stop.

Solomon Haumono 1-1-0 (1) vs Auckland Auimatagi 0-1-0 (0) -
Haumono dominated, scoring a 6th round knockdown then another early in the 9th that gave him time to finish the job with a perfect uppercut for the 10 count later in the round.

Peter Felix 0-1-0 (0) vs Bill Blakeley 0-1-0 (0) -
Felix was on the hunt from the opening bell, landing some huge shots then a hook on the button that put Blakely out for the count only 2:39 into the bout.

Jim Scanlon 1-1-0 (1) vs Billy Buck 0-1-0 (0) -
Scanlon set the tone with a 1st round knockdown then scored the KO in the 5th to move on in the tourney.

Jimmy Ryan 2-1-0 (2) vs Danny Buzza 1-1-0 (1) -
Ryan was in control from the opening bell, then dropped Buzza in the 8th round and was landing some punishing shots in the 9th when the referee halted the bout for the TKO. Most felt the hook was a bit quick, but Buzza clearly was out classed in this one.

James Ryan 1-1-0 (1) vs Tony Coyne 0-1-0 (0) -
Ryan was by far the better pugilist in this one, building up a huge lead then a frustrated Coyne landed his second low blow and third foul of the fight in the 11th and was disqualified.

Craig Petersen 1-1-0 (0) vs Rudy Darno 1-1-0 (1) -
A good tactical bout saw these two go back and forth trading rounds early then Peterson gradually built up a small lead. Needing a miracle in the 15th round, Darno came out trying to end it, and while he didn't finish Petersen, he did score the lone knockdown of the fight. I had it 142-142 even on the strength of a 10-8 15th round for Darno while the judges had it 144-141 Darno, 142-142 even and 143-142 for Petersen, for the draw.

Ted Gray 2-1-0 (0) vs Marc Ecimovic 1-1-0 (1) -
Ecimovic was up on all three cards, having scored a 3rd round knockdown as he controlled the pace throughout. Gray landed a vicious overhand right that put Ecimovic down for the count in the 10th to pull out the come from behind KO.

Mark De Mori 0-0-0 (0) vs Jim Fogarty 0-1-0 (0) -
De Mori wasn't at his best, losing a point in the 3rd for his second foul then going down in the 4th before Fogarty finished the job with the KO on a looping left in the 8th round for the minor upset.

Rematch:

Craig Petersen 1-1-1 (0) vs Rudy Darno 1-1-1 (1) -
Another close tactical bout was Darno build up a lead on the strength of a 10th round knockdown only to see Petersen close strong to pull out the 143-142, 143-142 and 144-141 decision as he dominated the final 4 frames.

Australia - Heavyweights - Round 1 - Part 2

Round 1 - Part 2:

Albert Lloyd 1-1-0 (0) vs Pablo Frank 0-1-0 (0) -
Lloyd was working over Frank pretty well through the first 3 rounds then Frank landed an obviously intentional low blow and was immediately disqualified in the 4th round.

Justin Fortune 1-1-0 (1) vs Peter Graham 1-1-0 (1) -
A close bout through the 5th round as they went after one another with a vengeance. The 6th round was all Fortune however as he hurt Graham with a series of shots that had him out on his feet when the referee halted it.

Mick Dooley 2-1-0 (2) vs James Grima 1-1-0 (0) -
After an intense 1st round that saw Grima edge the round Dooley kept up the intensity, hurting Grima repeatedly before the referee halted the bout for the TKO in the 2nd round.

Reno Zurik 0-1-0 (0) vs Rick Horsburgh 0-1-0 (0) -
A good close bout that was nip and tuck throughout came to an abrupt halt when Zurik landed a beautiful combo to the chin that put Horsburgh down for the count at the beginning of round 9.

Colin Wilson 0-1-0 (0) vs Alf Idhe 1-1-0 (0) -
Wilson was moving well, dictating the pace of the fight and building a solid lead when he dodged into an Idhe right hand that ended his night abruptly in the 8th round for the KO.

Bill Turner 0-1-0 (0) vs Dan Keely 0-1-0 (0) -
Turner started strong, then landed a strong cross in the 3rd round for the KO to send Keely packing.

Owen Sullivan 0-1-0 (0) vs Pat Kennedy 1-1-0 (1) -
A close but uneventful fight ended in a hurry in the 6th round when Sullivan landed a looping overhand right that hurt Kennedy badly. Sullivan then landed hooks and uppercuts with abandon until the referee halted the bout for the TKO!

Mark Saris 0-1-0 (0) vs Lealofi Fasaval Lobalala 0-1-0 (0) -
Saris used every bit of the ring and crisp punching to wear down Lobalala then hurt him badly in the 5th round followed by shots from all angles as he tried to finish his opponent. The referee stepped in a bit early, but Lobalala was clearly hurt at the time of the stop.

Ned Ryan 0-1-0 (0) vs Australia Mandingo 0-1-0 (0) -
I had Mandingo winning this one 142-141 as they boxed throughout. Mandingo lost a point in the 8th and went down in the 10th round but finished strong in the last three rounds. The judging was wild, with it being 147-137 (wildly off) 143-140 and 141-142 for the winner by split decision, Ryan.

George Ruenalf 0-1-0 (0) vs Black Paddy 1-1-0 (0) -
A dirty bout as both men fouled freely, Ruenalf was the stronger of the two, taking the majority of the rounds to earn the 146-139, 148-139 and 148-137 decision.

Australia - Heavyweights - Round 2 - Part 1

Round 2 - Part 1:

Peter Jackson 9-1-0 (8) vs Joe Askew 1-1-0 (1) -
All Jackson all the time as he started fast from the opening bell and finally dropped the under skilled Askew in the 4th then poured it on until the ref showed mercy and called it later in the round.

Kali Meehan 4-1-0 (4) vs Jim Fogarty 1-1-0 (1) -
Brutal knockdowns in the 5th and 7th round followed by a vicious uppercut later in the 7th put Fogarty down and out.

Bill Lang 2-1-0 (2) vs Alf Idhe 2-1-0 (1) -
While Idhe was accurate with his punches, they lacked any zip. Lang on the other hand was not only accurate, but his shots crisper, and his work rate much much higher. That led to Lang being knocked down in the 6th followed by a brutal beating until the ref stopped it for the TKO.

Steve O'Donnell 1-1-0 (0) vs George Ruenalf 1-1-0 (0) -
O'Donnell's movement gave Ruenalf fits early, but he closed the gap with a pair of 10th round knockdowns only to have O'Donnell finish strong in the final two rounds to pull off the 143-141 unanimous decision on all 3 cards.

Joe Goddard 1-1-0 (1) vs Ned Ryan 1-1-0 (0) -
While Ryan never left his feet, Goddard put on a clinic, then pummeled Ryan so badly that his corner tossed in the towel to save Ryan serious harm in the 11th round.

Bill Farnan 3-1-0 (3) vs Mark Saris 1-1-0 (1) -
A slugfest that saw Saris down in the 1st, only to come back strong over the next four rounds. Farnan rallied in the 6th through 8th rounds only to have Saris drop him twice in the 9th round. Frnan took over from there however, winning round after round, dropping Saris again in the 12th and 14th rounds to earn the solid 143-137, 143-137 & 142-138 decision.

Frank Slavin 2-1-0 (1) vs Owen Sullivan 1-1-0 (1) -
Slavin was quicker, more accurate and in the 9th round more powerful as he landed the hook from hell that put Sullivan out for the count.

George Cook 1-1-0 (0) vs Bill Turner 1-1-0 (1) -
Cook started fast, taking the first three rounds, with a knockdown in the 3rd. Turner did well the next few rounds but was cut in the 6th over the right eyebrow. Cook took control from there, forging the lead then reopening the cut in the 13th for the TKO.

Australia - Heavyweights - Round 2 - Part 2

Round 2 - Part 2:

Lucas Browne 0-0-0 (0) vs Reno Zurik 1-1-0 (1) -
After 4 fairly close rounds with Browne showing more power he starches Zurik with an uppercut in the 5th round.

Colin Bell 1-1-0 (1) vs Mick Dooley 3-1-0 (3) -
A brutal back and forth slugfest saw Bell down in the 4th, Dooley down in the 6th, then Bell down again in the 7th. After trading rounds in the 8th and 9th, Bell scored a pair of knockdowns in the 10th, the final one for the count as the crowd cheered the fortitude of both fighters!

Bill Squires 3-1-0 (2) vs Justin Fortune 2-1-0 (2) -
A good close action bout that saw Squires loose a point in the 9th round but win it anyhow on the strength of his first knockdown. Fortune went down again in the 11th, but came back strong with a knockdown of his own in the 12th. Squires finished strong however, sweeping the final three rounds including two more knockdowns in the 14th to earn the 143-136, 142-137 & 142-137 decision.

Billy Australian Smith 2-1-0 (1) vs Albert Lloyd 2-1-0 (0) -
Smith broke open a close bout with a 6th round knockdown then the KO shot in the 7th round against a game Lloyd.

Tom Lees 3-1-0 (3) vs Ted Gray 3-1-0 (1) -
With Lees the clear aggressor & Gray boxing smartly this one was nip and tuck throughout despite a 6th round cut over the right eye of Lees. They went back and forth with Gray slightly ahead when the cut reopened in the 12th for the upset TKO by Gray.

Solomon Haumono 2-1-0 (2) vs Craig Petersen 2-1-1 (0) -
Haumono was in control, taking the early lead but Petersen stayed close throughout. Haumono dropped Petersen in the 9th round only to have Petersen earn his first stop with the KO shot to the rib cage of Haumono in the 10th!

Peter Felix 1-1-0 (1) vs James Ryan 2-1-0 (1) -
Felix came out on fire in the 1st round, scoring seemingly at will in dominating fashion but Ryan kept coming, scoring the first knockdown of the night late in the round. They put on quite a show, with Felix scoring very effectively on the outside while Ryan was able to close. Felix gradually pulled even then slightly ahead when he landed a tremendous hook in the 9th round for the KO!

Jim Scanlon 2-1-0 (2) vs Jimmy Ryan 3-1-0 (3) -
The last time these two met Ryan scored a 4th round KO. This time out they traded huge rounds in a very close slugfest. Scanlon finally put it together however, taking the 6th and 7th rounds then hurting Ryan so badly in the 8th that the referee halted it for the TKO as Scanlon evens the series.

Australia - Heavyweights - Round 3

Round 3:

Peter Jackson 10-1-0 (9) vs Ted Gray 4-1-0 (2) -
Both men came in out of shape, but it didn't matter much as Jackson overwhelmed Gray with a barrage of punches midway through the 1st round for the KO!

Kali Meehan 5-1-0 (5) vs Craig Petersen 3-1-1 (1) -
Meehan dropped Petersen late in the 1st round, and built up a lead only to have Petersen come back strong through 6. Meehan landed a series of crippling shots in the 7th however until the referee called it a night, sending Petersen home.

Bill Lang 3-1-0 (3) vs Jim Scanlon 3-1-0 (3) -
Lang scored a huge knockdown in the 1st round then pummeled Scanlon over the next several rounds before scoring the 6th round KO.

Steve O'Donnell 2-1-0 (0) vs Peter Felix 2-1-0 (2) -
A technical bout with the underdog Felix not only building a small lead, but showing good power, dropping O'Donnell three times in the 6th round to earn the upset TKO!

Joe Goddard 2-1-0 (2) vs Billy Australian Smith 3-1-0 (2) -
Smith scored knockdowns in the 1st, 5th and 7th rounds to take the early lead then held on as Goddard came back strong in the middle rounds, including a 10th round knockdown where Smith was saved by the bell! We went the distance with Smith pulling out the narrow 142-140, 143-139 and 142-139 decision.

Bill Farnan 4-1-0 (3) vs Bill Squires 4-1-0 (2) -
After splitting 4 close rounds Squires took control with two knockdowns in the 5th and a pair more in the 6th before the referee halted it for the 3rd straight upset in this round, sending Squires to the Quarter-Finals.

Frank Slavin 3-1-0 (2) vs Colin Bell 2-1-0 (2) -
A terrific action bout that had Bell down in the 1st round only to come back strong with the crowd on their feet nearly the entire bout. With the fight very close, Slavin landed another knockdown in the 8th round, this one to ice the very game Bell.

George Cook 2-1-0 (1) vs Lucas Browne 1-0-0 (1) -
A tactical bout that I had dead even through 10 rounds came to a screeching halt when Cook unleashed a nasty combination that put Browne out for the count.

Australia - Heavyweights - Quarter-Finals

Quarter-Finals:

Peter Jackson 11-1-0 (10) vs Peter Felix 3-1-0 (3) -
Jackson continues to rampage through this division, this time tearing a nasty gash on the left eyelid of Felix only 1:14 into the 1st round for the TKO on cuts.

Kali Meehan 6-1-0 (6) vs Billy Australian Smith 4-1-0 (2) -
Meehan scored an 8th round KO last time he met Smith. In this bout Meehan dropped Smith in the 3rd, then was dropped himself in the 5th. Meehan scored his second knockdown in the 6th then landed the KO shot late in the 9th round to move to the Semi-Finals.

Bill Lang 4-1-0 (4) vs Bill Squires 5-1-0 (3) -
Squires holds a 1-0-0 (1) record with an 8th round KO last time they met. This time out Squires went down in the 4th round but battled back despite a cut in the 7th over his left eye that flowed freely for much of the bout. Squires was up on two of the three cards when Lang landed a much needed knockdown for the count in the final frame! Squires was up 133-132, 134-131 on two cards while Lang had the 133-132 lead on the 3rd.

Frank Slavin 4-1-0 (3) vs George Cook 3-1-0 (2) -
Slavin earned the 15 round unanimous decision when these two met in the last tourney. Slavin controlled the action after a slow 1st round to build a commanding lead, then scored an 11th round knockdown and followed up with a brutal attack before the referee halted it near the end of the round.

Australia - Heavyweights - Semi-Finals

Semi-Finals:

Peter Jackson 12-1-0 (11) vs Frank Slavin 5-1-0 (4) -
Slavin showed no fear, dominating the 1st round only to have Jackson land a cross down the pipe that set him up for a hook that put him down for the count in the 2nd round!

Kali Meehan 7-1-0 (7) vs Bill Lang 5-1-0 (5) -
With both men showing good power throughout the tourney, it was a surprise that it went the distance. Meehan went down in the 4th, and returned the favor in the 8th round. In the 14th Lang lost a point for an intentional head butt, his 4th foul of a dirty fight (Meehan had 3 fouls) and the fight was close after 15. The judges had it 143-141, 143-141 and 142-141 for the winner by unanimous decision, Meehan who faces Jackson in the finals for the second straight tourney.

Australia - Heavyweights - Final

Final:

Peter Jackson 13-1-0 (12) vs Kali Meehan 8-1-0 (7) -
Peter Jackson iced Kali Meehan in the 10th round of an entertaining bout the last time out. This time Jackson again was the stronger, scoring a knockdown in the 8th round then pouring it on until the ref stepped in. It was again a slugger's paradise as Meehan had some great rounds only to have Jackson answer the call with better rounds! Jackson improves to 14-1-0 (13) heading into his second straight tourney.

Australia - Cruiserweights - Round 1

Some fighters moved up in class, but we've added 4 new fighters to the field so there are 12 warriors total. The top four seeds receive a bye, they are Dave Russell, 1-1-0 (1), Jamie Withers 0-1-0, Daniel Ammann 0-1-0 and Steve Aczel 1-2-0 (0) ( seems I fought him one time too many in the last tourney...lol)

Round 1:

Dominic Vea 0-0-0 (0) vs Phil Gregory 0-1-0 (0) -
A strong performance from Vea as he drove a brutal hook to the head of Gregory in the 3rd round for the 10 count.

Daniel Rowsell 4-1-0 (3) vs Nick Lantouris 0-0-0 (0) -
Lantouris was cut in the 3rd round by an accidental butt. Rowsell dominated the bout, scoring a 7th round knockdown before the cut reopened in the 8th, sending the fight to the scorecards. The abbreviated scores were 70-62, 69-63 and 67-65 for Rowsell.

Gary Wills 0-0-0 (0) vs Adam Watt 0-0-0 (0) -
Wills suffered a 3rd round cut as Watt was the agressor, scoring a knockdown in the 4th then reopening the cut for the TKO later in the round.

Costa Chondros 1-1-0 (0) vs Les Crow 0-1-0 (0) -
Crow took the first two rounds only to have Chondros take over from there, dominating then scoring a 5th round knockdown. Chondros hurt Crow with repeated hooks to the body and head in the 7th before the referee halted the bout for the TKO.

Australia - Cruiserweights - Quarter-Finals

Quarter-Finals:

Dave Russell 1-1-0 (1) vs Adam Watt 1-0-0 (1) -
Watt dominated the heavy favorite Russell, scoring a 3rd round knockdown then another in the 5th round before the ref had seen enough and called the fight. This takes the top seed out of the equation.

Jamie Withers 0-1-0 (0) vs Costa Chondros 2-1-0 (1) -
Another top seed drops by the wayside as Chondros scored the 9th round KO after having dominated much of the fight.

Daniel Ammann 0-1-0 (0) vs Daniel Rowsell 5-1-0 (3) -
Rowsell won the last World Tournament Berth and Ammann was a 1st round casualty last time out, though neither have met. This one went the distance with the neither man down. The fight literally came down to the final round with the judges scoring it 144-143, 144-143 and 143-144 for the winner by split decision Ammann.

Steve Aczel 1-2-0 (0) vs Dominic Vea 1-0-0 (1) -
Aczel pummeled Vea for the bulk of the bout, opening a gash on the left eyebrow directly above the eye in the 5th round that reopened in the 7th to end Vea's tourney dreams.
