They mean keeping it a secret because of the fact that there were basically no status updates almost until the first beta was released (besides the "it will be done in a week or so" type, that clearly weren't even close). Now personally, I have no problem waiting for rosters, as I have plenty of other stuff to do, lol, but you should at least understand where people are coming from. As others have said, they were told that someone would have rosters done by release, then shortly after release were told rosters would be done "soon" or in a "week or two". Never did you just come out and say "hey guys, I'm not even done with the majors yet, let alone starting on the minors". I guess the point is, that while there are plenty of us out here who have no problem waiting however long it is going to take to get these done, you really shouldn't be so quick to snap judge someone who is just going off the limited info they have been given. Obviously there have been many computer glitches, etc that Rolen has talked about, but the fact is that until the betas started rolling out, none of these people had any reason to think that there weren't just a few teams waiting to be finished, small details needed to be done, etc. If you had just said flat out "guys, we'll have rosters done sometime around september 1st when rosters expand", it would have saved you a lot of headaches, and shrunk this thread by about 40 pages. And then if you released it 2 months early, I don't think anyone would complain ![]() But, there's no way to go back in time and correct things. So why don't you guys just get this thread closed, post a new one stating simply that you have a September 1st (or whatever) release date. Be as generous as you can, and then you don't need to worry about getting a bunch of complaints/questions about where the set is. Or, another option would be to spend a fraction of the time you do creating all this stuff and make a step by step readme file, package it with all the stuff you currently have, and then send it out to people so they can finish it themselves. Besides these, I basically think you're just encouraging these guys to keep bitching and moaning, since you aren't giving any other options, lol. Might have to start wondering if you truly enjoy complaining about this stuff ![]() Remember, I don't really care how long it takes, and appreciate your work. But it is frustrating for those of us able to see both POVs to come here everyday for updates and only see a bunch of complaining and arguing, and even more ludicrous telling people to start their own sets, lol.

We thought it would be done sooner than possible, mainly because I had no idea the minors were so screwed up. We figured MLB would be all that would be need to be done, but with some problems here and there things expanded. If I would have had an idea it would have taken that long to get the whole set out, obviously I would have stated so.
There is a file out there. It was two weeks later than we expected to release it I think. A large portion of the time that this project has been around, I have stated that the project will go in blocks, and not everything will be done at once. It is certainly not ridiculous to expect others to start their sets. If you are that impatient, then start your own. I guarantee I have more on my hands right now, time wise, than 95 percent of the people on this board (no offense intended, just the truth), so much that the time I have put into this set is pretty unbelievable. And so to expect me of all people to sit here and taking verbal beatings from people who have to have it now, now, now, is something I will not put up with. Either way, I'm done worrying about it. I'm putting as much time into the set as possible, I'll try to give periodic updates in here about it.

Guys, seriously, cut it the hell out. It's not Cubby or Rolen's fault that the rosters are taking long to complete. If SI promised rosters shortly after release, go ****ing bitch to them, and not Cubby or Rolen. Cubby and Rolen are volunteering their free time to this set, and owe no obligation to any of the OOTP players or SI. |

Cubby, its unbelievable the crap people are giving you and Erich. You deserve nothing but praise for your awesome rosters. I really get tired of hearing all this criticism of you and Erich. You guys are better off just finishing them when you can and just not reading this messageboard anymore. I don't blame you for being mad at these idiots, I would be as well.

I just downloaded it but I can't manage to import the rosters into a new league...is this a separate thing or something?

Yeah, that's pretty inconsiderate. I went ahead and sort of did the minors myself. Well, just more than 100 of the top prospects. After doing that you really appreciate the efforts of Cubby's and Erich. It's so tedious. Time flies as if you are enjoying yourself. Anybody could have my addition to the roster set if they want, just ask me, but I'm sure you'll would find holes in it. I left out some prospects. Remember, I only did the top 115-120. I kind of neglected the contracts of a good portion of minor leaguers as well.

Like I said, you'd make it a lot easier on yourselves, on those of us checking for regular updates, and especially on the people who come on here looking for a set (the main ones who issue complaints, since they really don't know the whole story), if you guys would just close this thread, and post a sticky thread each time you have an update (each day?) or a new version to release. Just like they have been doing with the WIP patch builds and changes each day. Seriously, consider doing this, it would clean up the board a ton and make so much more sense. Post a new sticky each day/each time you make changes and release a new version. JUST DO IT ![]() Heh, seriously tho, thanks again for doing this, and realize I am not trying to be difficult, just trying to offer some assistance.

I was raised that if someone does you favor you say thank you don't moan and complain about the when, why, how that favor is done.
Thanks Erich and Cubby (and everyone else who have made a roster set at some point for the OOTP series). Last edited by HolyCow98; 07-23-2006 at 02:54 AM. |

I'm just glad that someone is doing it.
I tried to take your V6.5 rosters and edit them into this, but it is so time consuming I quit very quickly. You two deserve a ton of credit for the work you are doing. People who are moaning are inconsiderate and dumb. They feel it is their right for them to have your rosters and that they are doing you a favor by using your rosters. This is a huge favor for everyone who plays OOTP06 and we all owe you a ton for your hard work. I know you guys have it pretty well handled, but if you need any help, I'm willing to do anything...and I mean anything

If the Tour de France teaches you anything, it's this:
Don't get caught taking steroids, don't pee while on live TV around the world and most importantly: compete at your own pace, if you burn out, there's no way you're going to finish, so between doing the roster, feel free to relax and do some other stuff, it's going to pay off in the longer run.

Here's my 2 cents after reading the last day or so of Cubby bashing. I am for one am very happy with the rosters as they are. I started my season with the latest release, tweaking my minor league system and off I went. Do I need totally accuarte minors...NO! After all, in five years there will be a bunch of names in the majors I don't know anyway, thats the fun of this. You start real and eventually turn fictional. So to all you bashers, back off. My opinion is until you release your own "complete" roster set - then you ned to sit back and be quiet...and at the very least...be thankful for this one. Thanks Cubby - I for one, am having a great time playing!

I downloaded the rosters last night and decided to sim 5 years then take a team. However, when I came back the sim had stopped in 2008 because it said Arizona had an illegal number of players on the 25 man roster. They didnt have enough to fill the lineups, rotation, etc.
So I thought it was a problem with Arizona. No. No team in the league had 25 players on the 25 man roster. I believe 17 was the most. I changed nothing. The rosters were left alone and I simply started simming.
