dola,

Of course this is a sorry ass team. I'll be switching to Big Brother: All Stars in 8 minutes.

Bobby Crosby sucks...

and he hasn't even hit into the DP yet.

Edit: Lucky MF'er. Wait, is "MF'er" gonna get me a warning? These new rules are confusing.

Antonio Perez is really actually having a good game. A hit, good defense, a walk, and hit the ball hard.

Nice win tonight. The offense FINALLY came through, the pitching was solid. A little help from Loretta works for me. The 2nd half has begun everybody. No need to worry.

Edit: Wow, some big news here. Johnson going to Sacramento.

He was starting to come around, but I'm not sure who else would've gone down in his place. I'm sure it won't be long till somebody else is on the DL and he comes back.

I just read that (Re: Johnson to Sac) and I like the move. You can't cut Payton and/or Keilty's playing time and it just makes sense since Swisher can play first. The right move, definitely.

dola,

There's also speculation on Athletics Nation that, with Jason Windsor only going three innings in Sac tonight and Kirk Saarloos pitching out of the bullpen tonight, Windsor might be seeing a soon callup and be given a shot in the rotation.

This is the time of year for moves like this. Let's shake this baby up and win some freaking games.

I'm all for cutting Payton's playing time. I can't stand watching him bat.

Well I mean I wouldn't want to bench guys who are playing well. (Of course, now I see that Payton has cooled off and is only batting .256 in July. But Kielty should still be out there almost every day.)

Okay, so what's going on?

DJ sent down, Windsor probably coming up, a bunch of guys shuffled around the minors.

Who are we trading for?

Personally, I'd like to make a run at Nick Johnson or (dreaming) Carl Crawford. Either one would give Swisher the chance to play 1 position and stop shuffling back and forth between LF/1B. Crawford would probably cost a LOT. Barton would be the first part of that deal.

Would anybody wanna give up Barton/Payton/Komine for Crawford?

As far as I'm concerned Barton should be untouchable, unless there's more to his injury that we don't know about.

Prospects I would not want to see traded: Barton, Suzuki, Buck

I'm not so sure about Barton now. Power is always last to develop, but he still only projects as a 20-25 HR guy at most, and he's going to be playing a power position.

Crawford is young, cheap, and putting up an .880 OPS in his 3rd full season, plus it would move Swisher to 1B full time anyways.

It won't happen anyways, though. Let's just trade Payton for prospects and those prospect for Nick Johnson.

I'd rather them DL Chavez until he's ready to come back than send Johnson down.

I'd rather get a middle infielder on the A's than another 1B.

True, but 1) Johnson is available, 2) Johnson would cost less than Soriano (both salary-wise and price to aquire), 3) DAN Johson is horrible, 4) Swisher would be back to left field.

I think if we're going to win any of the next three, tonight is the most likely. Well, if Zito brings his A game, and if Bradley has a nice welcome back game. WTF am I talking about - I could easily see this team being dominated by Beckett.

Kendall
Swisher
Kotsay
Thomas
Payton
Crosby
Bradley
Ellis
Perez

Ladies and Gentlemen. I think we're about to start one of those winning streaks.

Thomas walks in an 8 run inning. This game is all but over. Take him off the bases, PLEASE.
