Big game for A"s tonight and Sarloos especially after his first couple rough ups.

Huge win for the A's against K-Rod. Nice to see them finally get a clutch hit

The league is going to figure out K-Rod. I know this may be oversimplifying slightly, but don't swing at the breaking stuff. His fastball is straight as an arrow. Sit on the fastball all day long. If he throws three of those sliders over the plate, well, good for him. Sit down and get him next time. He doesn't have the control to consistently get the breaking pitch over the plate. It looked like Hatteberg did just that tonight. He got the fastball and nailed.

Man! I went to bed after the top of the 8th. I hate those west coast starting times.

On another note, the A's locked up Bobby Crosby through 2009, for a total of $12.75 million. If he develops as he should, this should be another steal of a deal by the A's.

Aren't you only an hour ahead of them?

Mulder threw a 10 inning shutout today. 18 scoreless for him now. Seems to be settling down and I wish him well, just as long as Haren is doing better than him.

Mulder is a guy who usually has a great 3-4 months but seems to break down near the end of the season. I hope he does well since he's a local guy, but I think he might be a guy who just can't make it through a whole season.

Yep. Two out of the four A's playoff years he missed the postseason due to injury.

Bump this back to page 1! Joe Blanton is pitching very well tonight on national television.

Of course, the RISP monster rears its ugly head again.

The A's piss me off with their approach to K-Rod. The guy has very little control with his breaking pitches. I'd say 1 out of 15 actually end up in the zone. I know the batters can recognize it because I can recognize it while watching on TV. Hatteberg was actually too patient: he should have lit him up on the 2nd fastball. Durazo had a good approach but just failed to execute. That happens. Kielty looked terrible (nothing new) but got a lucky infield hit. Melhuse's at bat was infuriating. It's like he didn't watch the previous three batters. If he had, there's no way he would've swung at those pitches. All this from a team that is supposed to be patient. They lose their minds when they face this guy.

Yes, I screamed at Hatteberg to swing the bat on that second fastball. It's really frustrating to watch them take the meat pitches and swing at the awful pitches. My only solace is in knowing that they are slumping right now and will get better.

Really ****ty that Blanton took the loss tonight. He pitched a gem against a tough lineup.

Bump. This was back to page 2 again.

I'm going to be out for a bit tonight so I'm not sure how much of the game I will see. I spoke to Barry this morning and told him to bring his curveball.

Go A's!!!!

I love Billy Beane and what he does with limited means, but man Steve Schott is about the worst owner in baseball...how many years are the folks in Oakland going to put up with an owner with the worst percentage of profit in all baseball actually making its way back out onto the field?

I had heard something about Schott selling his portion of the team...what's the word on that? I think if they can ever get a REAL owner teamed with Billy Beane, they'll be able to put together one of the best teams in baseball out there...

I'm counting on the A's winning at least two out of three. C'mon, Green and Gold, don't make me look bad!

See the first name on the list. This was effective at the beginning of this season.

What's up with the A's, man? As a Yankee fan, and with all their pitching woes of late, I'd sacrifice two of each animal to any pagan god to have the kind of starting pitching the A's have gotten the past two days. Blanton, and now Zito and whooooops....

Spoke too soon. Zito just surrendered a two-run dinger to....Chris Widger??? What???

Zito was great for 6 innings last night. Too bad he wasn't pulled before everything blew up. I don't think his pitch count was very high at that point so I can't blame Macha.

What a sorry excuse for an offense though. Shut out in back-to-back games! This team can't hit their way out of a wet paper bag right now. Athletics Nation is calling for hitting coach Dave Hudgens' head.
