I can vouch for the magazine. I've purchased their other magazines through Gameplay and all have (eventually) gotten here. They usually take about 10-14 days after release in the UK to get all the way out here to the west coast.
I would agree with jnshmoo, it would be great if you could get it distributed here in the US. But then we've said that about CM too for years.

Less customization = I find a new baseball sim. Customization retained and better historical accuracy added = I lose my job because I spend all my time playing OOTP7.

Marc, I like the look of your boards, but I can't register because I only have hotmail and yahoo! accounts. Know of anywhere I can get a free email account that lets me register?

I wasn't necessarily suggesting that the leagues have to be implemented exactly how they are structured ala CM/FM, but rather just having support for multiple leagues running simultaneously. Imagine that you can run your own fictional league, but yet have other fictional leagues running in the background in other countries. This would allow you to bring players over to your league from those leagues like you see in the real MLB today. I'm sure Markus would want to keep support for fully customizable leagues, it would just be a nice touch to add to that flexibility the ability to have these other feeder leagues. Joe All this merger talk means I'm going to have to find time to fire CM back up! GO MILLWALL! (They're in the FA Cup Final!) |

Who is this "Riz" character you keep talking about. The only thing I know how to program is my TV remote.

congrats.....hope that most of the charm of this game is kept intact with the merger. Most of all the ability to play historical leagues from the lehman data base.

My initial reaction to all this is pretty positive. I know CM is a QUALITY product and the folks who make it I believe have and respect the kind of integrity necessary to keep producing the type of product we all expect from OOTP. And it's not like Markus is collaborating with the darklords of some software company like EA. These guys seem genuinely concerned with providing a good product, not the near sighted corporate vision of squeazing $ out of its customer base like other companies we know so well.
I am also greatly encouraged by the active role Marc Duffy has instantly taken. Marc clearly wants to make nice with the OOTP community and shows he is interested in our opinions. Until proven otherwise, I support the move and eagerly anticipate what good things may come of it. Now I just have to reconcile myself to the fact it won't be until the end of next year that we get to see the results.

congrats markus!
i've played cm4 and cm0304 and they're stellar games, so this could only mean great things for the OOTP series. |

I was actually just thinking the other night that OOTP could stand to slow down development of new features a bit and release a "6.5" version that cleans up a lot of the outstanding bugs and feature flaws that have been summed up in assorted other threads... but since Markus, I assume, relied at least somewhat on the influx of new cash from sales of a new version every spring, this wasn't feasible.
If he's on salary at SI now, it may well be in the cards that he can take the time to finally do that. Or, I may be totally off base. |

The move......
Congrats Markus. You have never let us down before and I expect this move is in the best interests of you and OOTP. One thing that must not change is the ability to download the game via the internet. I'm not prepared to wait two to four weeks to receive the product along with all the shipping costs that will be incurred. Can you clarify this as to whether OOTP will still be availabe through download? Thank you and good luck in this new and exciting chapter in OOTP history.
