The St. Louis Cardinals have placed outfielder Michael Brantley on the 10-day injured list after he suffered a back injury while running the bases during a 9-6 loss to the Brooklyn Dodgers on July 2.
Expected to provide depth in the outfield, Brantley has played a key role in the success of the Cardinals hitting .340 with five home runs and 31 RBIs in 73 games/57 starts.
Brantley is expected to be out for two weeks.
Getting called up from AAA North Hempstead is 23-year-old outfielder Sal Frelick.
In 74 games/71 starts at AAA, Hempstead has hit .276 with six home runs and 33 RBIs.

They are outfielders Kyle Tucker and Adam Duvall, second baseball Brandon Lowe and relief pitcher Angel Perdomo.
OF -- Adam Duvall - The 34-year-old outfielder has played in 80 games/70 starts and hit .269 with 17 home runs, 60 RBIs and 51 runs scored. He has got on base at a .314 clip and owns a .573 slugging percentage.
OF -- Kyle Tucker -- The 26-year-old outfielder has played in 87 games/82 starts during which he has hit .284 with 17 home runs, 59 RBIs and 53 runs scored. He has gotten on bae at a .380 clip and boasts a .538 slugging percentage.
2B -- Brandon Lowe -- The 29-year-old outfielder has played in 79 games/51 starts during which he has hit .251 with 16 home runs, 36 RBIs and 36 runs scored. He has gotten on base at a .347 clip and slugged .512.
