Started a new game using a different approach. This time I'm drafting players to their respective teams be MLB or Minors. Then assigned affliates from minors to majors. Started in 1920 with Negro leagues turned on. Now in 1924 and things are running pretty smooth but slow going due to the draft assignments. But things seem good. There are over 400 Black and Cuban players in total 68 in MLB, 155 in AAA (including NNL), 24 in AA, and 23 in Class A.

NNL players on MLB clubs;
BOS Spotswood Poles, Mack Eggleston and pitcher Joe Strong.
BSN Ben Taylor backup 1B
CWS Hurley McNair backup RF
CHC Biz Mackey, Cool Papa Bell CF and Spot SP
CIN Cristobal Torriente .300+ CF, Harry Salmon and Andy Cooper SP
CLE Walter Cannady, Oscar Charleston, Dave Brown and Martin Dihigo SPs
DET Nip Winters and Carl Glass SP
NYY Wilson Redus, Heavy Johnson both .330+
NYG Clint Thomas
PHA Jose Leblanc SP
PHI Bernardo Baro LF, Willie Wells SS (rookie), Larry Brown C, Willie Spearman
PIR Dobie Moore
SLB Geroge Britt SP, John Donaldson SP
STL Dick Lundy .290 SS, Jud Wilson .320 3B, Square Moore SP
WS1 New Joseph, Bill McCall SP

El Inmortal, Indeed

Had to share this here for those not following my Everyman League save, which is a dev-only universe using the mod but also featuring fictional players in a 48-team league.

Just finished the 1929 playoffs, and Martin Dihigo certainly lived up to his sobriquet, El Inmortal.

Having already posted an 18-11 / 2.42 record and hitting .277 with 32 homers and 105 RBI (more than 16 WAR combined) in the regular season, Martin had one of the best post-seasons I have ever seen, either real or simulated.

After winning the MVP in each of the first two playoff series (pitching a 1-hitter in the first of those), and with his club Montana now in this league's equivalent of the WS, MD pitched a pair of 7+ inning no-decisions and hit .375 (12-for-32) with 5 homers including the walkoff winner in the 11th inning of Game 7.

The two sets of stats at the very bottom are his playoff composites. Unbelievable.

One thing I am noticing in my current game is players are bouncing around between majors and minors. All players not just NeL players. Maybe a little bit more than in reality. One thing I wish the game would do is to assign the players to their actual debut club if they started in the minors put them there. If they are a NeL player place them in their NeL club. I have notice a few players that I placed in their minor league clubs that have been promoted to the majors ie. Bill Terry started in AA moved up to AAA then shared time in MLB and AAA until staying in the majors. 1916-1924. I had to make sure the AAA was affliated to the NY1 mlb club though. I was hoping the game would do that on its own.

Looking at some NeL players that drafted into the Negro Leagues who's contracts were purchased by MLB clubs I am finding a couple so maybe the game is promoting minors to majors on its own? For example SP Webster McDonald drafted into the Detroit Stars then his contract was purchased by the Washington Senators at the end of 1920 season. He then was sent to AA affliate. Washington trades him to Boston Braves he wins the Southern Association championship on the Birmingham Barons. In 1925 he is promoted to the majors but has a rough season 6-16 6.08 era. They keep him up and he is 5-20 4.37 era in 1926.

Another example is Rube Curry. NeL starter he was drafted by the Kansas Monarchs NeL club in 1920. The Yankees purchased his contract in 1920 he pitched in 10 games. Was then traded to the Brooklyn organization. Pitched 31 games in 1921-22. Sent to minors and split time between 1923-1926 in AAA ball and major club.

Frank Duncan C 6 years with the Tigers after two seasons in the NeL batting .289.

Nip Winters SP one season in AA ball, now with Tigers 5 seasons 112-99 3.96.
Heavy Johnson was drafted by the St. Louis Stars NeL in 1920, contract purchased by Athletics traded to Red Sox then traded again to Yankees. He has a .332 BA after 6 MLB seasons.

Chet Brewer SP drafted by Kansas City Monarchs in 1925 contract purchased by the Yankees. Spent 1925 in AAA ball brought up at the end of 1925 pitched 6 games. In 1926 he won 20 games with a 3.33 era.

Fred Bell spent 4 years in NeL then was called up to majors by PIT batted .310 in 1926 then was traded ot the Athletics.

Bartolo Portuondo 3B was drafted by the Havana Cuban Stars of the NeL in 1920.

Giants then back to the Phils. He has a .309 BA after 6 seasons.

That is 13 players out of approx.(8%), starters making a difference, 75 players who are on the 16 MLB clubs (35%). There are 69 in AAA mostly NeL (33%), 7 in AA (3%), 16 Class A (8%). The differernce are Free Agents approx 31 players or (13%).

Its kinda of a pain to draft the players but it seems to work fairly well in the 2026 game. The next thing to look at were the NeL top players that good. And thats a whole different can of worms as we all know.

used the new OOTP26 negro leaguers to create some NeL teams to face against some MLB clubs from baseball's golden era. check out this website for the outcomes.

It would be nice if the next version would let you imput Negro league clubs into a league like past MLB clubs. This last project would have been sooo much easier.
