My read is that this is an intended change to bring the 20/80 system more inline with what you'd see on a site like Fangraphs.

I do think the system comes in a little heavy against players, but not gamebreakingly so. For example, my standard candle for a truly replacement-level SP historically is Jeff Locke. I loaded the OOTP16 world into OOTP25, and it grades Locke as a 35/35.

Is that low for a truly replacement-level player? Meh. Not too-too low. Maybe he should be 40/40 if you have a slightly higher opinion of what a multi-year SP with a career 1 RA9-WAR & 3 fWAR should be. But even that's a very debatable maybe when you reflect that Locke had dipped into negative RA9-WAR by then.

I think once they iron out a few things, the representation of the 20/80 scale will be one of the more on-target changes from OOTP25.

Plus, some of the shock is watching RP's get their heads cut off in ratings. Some of that reflects that 20/80 isn't really aimed at RPs since the vast, vast majority of MLB pitchers were SPs at some other level. TBH, it wouldn't hurt to reimagine the 20/80 scale a bit to better quantify RP performance. If the standard is the standard, then logically an 80/80 RP should be Mariano Rivera. Maybe you think of Mariano as a 100/80 guy just to leave some room for today's best to be 80/80.

In 25, a reliever's salary is too much. While relievers' salaries have risen in MLB in recent years, in the game, players who aren't even top closers are paid tens of millions of dollars. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this is weird, as it's been brought up several times in the forum.

Do you have any thoughts on lowering reliever's salary?

And every reliever seems to want to demand to be a closer

Its unfortunate this issue got through QA. But as Markus tried to explain, they were fixing countless other bugs and this issue didn't present itself at the time. It was either masked by other issues or caused by changes they made to fix other things.

We can be thankful that they actually do care and are fixing issues as quickly as they can.
Totally agree. I can't think of 1 issue I've had. I'd love to able to start a franchise with the most updated roster. I never have the issues some people have & most are probably PC issues for some users.

OOTP is one of the most if not THE most consistent programs I've used over past 25 years. HUGE KUDOS TO THE PROGRAMMERS

Any update on the new patch? I've paused playing until it comes out. Hoping the Draft Pick Compensation is fixed.

Paused as well... my reason is draft classes need fixing for my historical sim.

Regarding the drafts in historical seasons, is there any additional problem to the draft pool reveal with no player when the default draft day is changed? or is there another detail problem that has been little discussed?

My experience has been that regardless of draft date, the draft classes are not getting "fully" released until after the season, and still lots of big name players from that class in RL were not in the pool. It sounds like it has been addressed in the new patch we are awaiting release of.

People really need to learn what how ratings work in OOTP, maybe there be less confusion over minor issues and learn that 20-80 or 1-100 or whatever scale you use isn't the players ratings but thier talent level in the league.
Delete player A and Player B may see a ratings change due to the talent level being different. Nothing else is changed but the displayed value. Maybe if more understood this concept, you'd get less posts complaining so and so isn't rated right.

Really need to educate people

Here's CL Jack Reid in ootp 24.

This illustrates the point, which is that developed pitchers aren't seeing much of a drop but recently drafted and IAFA players are and also need to be updated if draft classes and future IAFA classes are being updated.
Yep... nothing clearer than that post to make it all make sense

It was clear when I used the snip it tool and the images showed perfectly fine in the draft stage, and then when posted became a mess.

You do understand that 1-10 or 1-97 can change but the actual ratings don't?

Do we have an ETA on this patch? I am excited to install it and continue the season that I am playing. Really enjoying OOTP25 and all the updates they have made to the game. Maybe the best installment yet, especially with the inclusion of the Development Lab.

Same. Yall over here arguing over ratings... I just want the new patch haha. I'm trying to do the hardest dynasty in modern baseball. Colorado Rockies to a WS with no editing and "hard" mode on most settings. I need prayers, luck, good karma, all of the above sent my way.
