Things got worse for Montes and the Raiders in the top of the second. Phil Baird claimed another double. He then stole third base. Dana Morris was given a walk. The Charlotte Hornets continued to extend their lead in the top of the 6th. Phil Baird claimed his 3rd double of the game. He then came home when Dana Morris hit one 396 feet for a 2 run homer to make the score 9-0 to the Hornets.

The top of the 7th saw a solo home run of 391 feet by Casey Mastinsky give the Hornets double figures.

The bottom of the 8th saw a mini revival from the Raiders. Enrique Huerta hit a single. Hugo Arias then bought him home with a home run that went 423 feet. Mark Sofka made base with a single. Alex Robinson then also bagged a 2 run homer run that went 407 feet. This made the score line 10-6 in the Hornets favour.

The Hornets Phil Baird set the new Wolf Conference record for doubles in a game with 4 in total.

The game started badly for the Raiders again in the first. The Hornets got 3 runs. Dana Morris got a single before moving to second on a Jason Franklin single. They both then came home when Pablo Medel hit a 3 run homer that went 345 feet.

It took far less time for the Raiders to bounce back from the bad start in this game. The bottom of the second saw them take the lead. Mike Lentz picked up a single. He sprinted round to third when Scott Ha hit a single. Lentz then scored on an Armando Sandoval single. Mark Tice loaded the bases with a single. The Charlotte Hornets got 1 back in the top of the 7th. Min-Chae Seol hit a single. He moved to third when Jason Franklin hit a single. Pablo Medel loaded the bases with a walk. Jordan Guistiniani then hit a single to bring Seol home.

It didn’t take long for the Raiders to restore their 2 run lead. The bottom of the 7th saw them add the run. Mark Sofka got a walk. He moved to second when Mike Lentz also walked. Manny Jaime then hit a Sac Bunt that saw Sofka and Lentz move a base. Min-Kyu Yoo then hit a long fly out that allowed Sofka to tag up and run home with no throw.

A solo home run from James Nowinski of the Hornets in the top of the 8th bought the game close.

This made the top of the 9th crucial for the Raiders and there was only 1 man for it. Seth Fiebelkorn came in and got the Hornets to go over 1-2-3 to give the Raiders the win 7-6.

This win bought the Raiders back to 55-55

Steve Gill hit a single that scored Davis and also allowed Ginder to round third and power home. Jason Grossklaus came in and hit a double to score DeSalvo. He managed to strike out the next batter but after he delivered the final strike he pulled up sharply and held the back of his leg. He was taken from the game and did not return.

The bottom of the 8th saw the Oklahoma City Triplets move to double figures. Jonathan Davis was walked. Ginder was hit by a pitch to move Davis to second. Kurt DeSalvo was also hit by a pitch to load the bases. Edgar Davis hit a single to bring Davis home.

Hugo Arias got a walk to load the bases. Enrique Huerta then hit a long fly out to centre that saw Lentz come home.

This made the final score 10-5 with the San Jose Raiders getting their 4th loss in a row. The team were now back to .500 for the year at 61-61.

The injury to pitcher Isiah Kelly turned out not to be to serious. He will remain with the team and battle the mild calf strain he has suffered.

After the game there was more bad news for the Raiders and second baseman Tony Patton. Doctors confirmed that his fractured thumb had not healed as expected and he would be sidelined for a further 8 weeks due to the injury.
