Crashed again late in the game. I had debug mode on and attached the file to this message. OOTP is a fantastic product and I know the devs work hard to fix these bugs. Unfortunately, my game is unplayable right now as it crashes late in games more often than it doesn't. An autosave by inning feature would be tremendous.

My laptop just updated to Windows 11 and now my OOTP23 won't run. On the start up menu, every option (Continue Game, Load Game, New Game, etc) is grayed out. OOTP22 is running fine for me though. Any thoughts?

It sounds like maybe the license didn't transfer over when you updated Windows. Can you try relicensing the game?

We're looking at this, but I wanted to clarify something with both of you. When you say you have facegen disabled, what exactly do you mean. Is it entirely disabled in OOTP as a whole, from the main settings screen you get to from the start page. Or did you just set the game to not use/generate facegen images in the specific league you're playing? Or something else?

I don't know the exact setting(s) that I have in place. But the computer will still generate facegen images if an actual player photo file is not in place.

I only play MLB games, no minor league games. 95% of the MLB rosters have photo files in place. in the event that a guy gets called up from the minors or something and there is no image file for that player, the computer will generate a facegen image for that guy. Over the course of the season as I catch this happening I try to add in additional image photos as needed to make the facegens as minimal as possible.

I've done it this way for years, never with a problem before. When I add in new image files I close out OOTP. Then save the new image files to the "photos" folder within OOTP. Then I go into my saved game data and delete the facegen image for the given guys that I just added in. Then when I restart OOTP those given players will have image files in place. That has worked flawlessly for me for years and the process "seemed" to work fine this year as well - though maybe it's related to the crashing.

But, given the situation I'm dealing with I do suppose that maybe there's a conflict over facegen vs. image file for certain guys where maybe I added an image file in after a facegen was already created or something? Or maybe something glitchy is trying to create a new facegen when accessing that new relief pitcher and it's conflicting with the image file...... I tried to get a debug file yesterday but the 2 games I played out were successful. So no luck on that yet.

I personally have no use at all for facegen. So if you could point me in the right direction with what settings to adjust to completely, 100% disable facegen and just rely on image files or no image at all if I haven't added an image file for a given player - I would be 100% fine with trying that as a work around for this issue.

I have facegen enabled, but only for players who don't have photos.

I'll post my actual settings on this once I get home tonight. However I have it set currently, the computer will use the image file whenever an image file is in place, and it will create a facegen when an image file is not in place..... But facegens tend to be rare since anytime I come across a facegen I will try to get an image file put in its place using the steps in previous post. I could definitely see some sort of conflict between image vs. facegen happening though when that relief pitcher or pinch-hitter player comes into the game.

So I'll post the settings I am currently using a little bit later today, but then from there I'm going to try to completely disable facegen and see if that fixes anything. Truthfully, if it does fix the issue than I'm probably just going to leave it like that and be content. Facegen was never a big thing for me to begin with.

While it's not fixed, you can try to disable Facegen entirely in the Game Settings, I hope it will not crash then.
I suspect that there is some bug related to it, but don't think it has something to do with the real photos.
Maybe something is odd with the pitcher. I'll check this.

the issue is happening on pinch hitters too, not just relief pitchers.



More or less, anytime a substitute player comes into the game - the crash can potentially happen it seems.

Thanks. No crashes is good but you're probably just lucky that it doesn't crash now. Your version is 23.3.61 or some other one?

That is my version, but it was also crashing before that.
