Transactions - Lee Richmond was given a contract extension for 4 years at 11.4 Million. Organization is high on this offseason acquisition.

2027 - Series #16 - Lincoln Music

A bit of disappointment in the heartland as Paris drops of 2 games to Lincoln who had some dominant pitching efforts. Now they head home to play the surprisingly solid Aruba Jackrabbits in a battle of division leaders of new divisions.

Game #46 - Paris Swingers 9 Lincoln Music 3

WP - Joel Collins (3-4)
LP - Eric Nolte (0-5)
Save - Ben DeMott (8)

Star of Game - Gail Hopkins (4-5, HR 6 RBI's)

Homers
Paris - Jack Dawson (7), Gail Hopkins (6)
Lincoln - Mark Quinn (12)

Recap - Paris had a 7-0 lead in the 5th inning so a one side game and to think that Paris wins the game that Collins starts in the series. Collins allowed 2 runs in 6 inning and fanned 3 batters. Nolte gave up 6 runs in 3 1/3 innings and had an early shower for Lincoln. Hopkins has the breakout game he was waiting for this year with the 6 RBI's, Richie Ashburn went 5 for 5 in the game and is now hitting .268. Paris had 18 hits in the ballgame. Matt Holliday and Pepe Frias each had 2 hits for Lincoln.

Game #47 - Lincoln Music 1 Paris Swingers 0

WP - Max Scherzer (2-2)
LP - Bill Gogolewski (5-3)
Save - Scott Williamson (8)

Star of Game - Max Scherzer (7 IP, 0 ER, 5 hits 7 K's)

Homers
Lincoln - Bob Unglaub (5)

Recap - Scherzer was dazzling and no one could figure him out as Lincoln wins the tight contest. Gogolewski fanned 6 in 5 innings and allowed just 2 hits, but sadly one was the homer by Unglaub. Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher and Unglaub had 2 hits each for Lincoln, and they only had 5 for the game. Paris had 6 hits, 2 each by Gail Hopkins and Jack Dawson in the loss

Game #48 - Lincoln Music 3 Paris Swingers 2

WP - Scott Kazmir (4-0)
LP - Paul Thormodsgard (5-1)
Save - Scott Williamson (9)

Star of Game - Scott Kazmir (5 1/3 innings, 5 hits, 0 ER 4 K's)

Homers
Lincoln - Jack Stivetts (6) , Matt Holliday (4)

Recap - Lincoln had a 3-0 lead after 7 and Paris tacked on the 2 runs in the 8th to make it close as they got to sidewinder Dan Quisenberry for 2 runs. Kazmir was sharp but was gassed in the 6th inning. Thormodsgard gets his first loss finally but still pitched well allowing just 2 runs in 6 innings. Mark Quinn, Noel Gallagher, Don Johnson (not the actor) and Holliday had 2 hits each for Lincoln. Paris had 10 hits in the loss and got 3 hits and 2 RBI's from Bobby Kielty.

Standings - Paris Swingers are 31-17 in first place in the NL World Division but their lead over the Baghdad Sultans contracted to 4 games.

Looking Ahead - The Aruba Jackrabbits come to town with an impressive 36-12 record in first place in the NL Tropical and holding a comfortable 8 game lead already on the Key West Condors. After that we have the pleasure of going on the road to play the Barbados Arsenal

2027 - Series #17 - Aruba Jackrabbits

This was another hard series and Paris drops 2 out of 3 and sees their lead drop to 3 games as they take off for sunny Barbados to play the Arsenal.

Game #49 - Paris Swingers 2 Aruba Jackrabbits 1

WP - Ben DeMott (4-0)
LP- Mike Hartley (2-2)

Star of Game - Lee Richmond (7 IP, 3 hits, 1 ER, 11 K's)

Homers
Aruba - Matt Wieters (15)
Paris - Jack Dawson (8.9)

Recap - A strong walk off win as Titanic passenger and artist Dawson hits the walk off homer off of Hartley in a very anticipated series of teams that are on top of newly created divisions. Richmond was stellar after getting rewarded with his contract extension and just made the one mistake to Wieters. Jaime Garcia started for Aruba and just allowed 1 run in 4 1/3 innings but fatigued. Gail Hopkins, Doc Lavan and Dawson had 2 hits each in which Paris only had 7 hits. Aruba was limited to 4 hits

Game #50 - Aruba Jackrabbits 3 Paris Swingers 2

WP - Ray Searage (4-1)
LP - Michael Tejera (0-3)
Save - Randy Niemann (11)

Star of Game - Sean Douglass (5 IP, 1 ER, 4 hits 10 K's)

Homers
Aruba - Matt Wieters (16), Brandon Guyer (4)

Recap - Wieters and Guyer hit solo homers off the ineffective Tejera in the 7th and that spoiled a solid outing by Douglass whose ERA is under 3 now. Wei-Yin Chen pitched 5 innings for Aruba and gave up 2 runs and the bullpen held on made up of some 1980's Met fringe players. Joe Orsulak had 3 hits for Aruba in the game but their offense came in a blip. Lee Richmond was the DH for Paris and collected 2 of the Paris 8 hits.

Game #51 - Aruba Jackrabbits 5 Paris Swingers 0

WP - Bill Swift (8-1)
LP - Joel Collins (3-5)

Star of Game - Bill Swift (7 IP, 4 hits 0 ER 9 K's)

Homers
Aruba - Cole Tucker (5)

Recap - This was a pitcher's duel and 0-0 after 6 innings as Collins was matching Swift (this is 1930's Swift). John Jay and Tucker each drove in 2 runs as Aruba rattled off 3 in the 7th and one run in the remaining innings to put the game away. Paris only had 4 hits and were baffled by Swift all game. Byron Buxton and Tony Piet struck out twice each

Standing - Paris Swingers are 32-19 and in first place in the NL World Division with a 3 game lead over the Baghdad Sultans.

Looking Ahead - Paris Swingers take to the road to play the Barbados Arsenal. The first year Barbados team is a miserable 7-44 in last place in the NL Tropical Division. Then Paris heads home to play divisional foes in the Melbourne Caribou.

LP - Edgar Smith (0-5)
Save - Ben DeMott (9)

Star of Game - Kelly Gruber (3-4, HR 3 RBI's)

Homers
Paris - Harlond Clift (14)
Barbados - Kelly Gruber (9)

Recap - Steve Evans drives in 2 runs in the top of the 9th inning off of Smith with bases loaded to break an 8-8 tie. Bill Gogolewski gave up 5 runs in 4 2/3 innings as Paris pitching faltered. Paris got to Barbados starter Willie Mitchell for 6 runs in the first inning. Angel Guzman pitched 2 2/3 innings for Barbados to keep them in the game. Cal McVey had 4 hits and Clift's homer was a grand slam off of Mitchell in the first. Gruber was the entire Barbados offense and he scored 4 runs in the process.

Game #53 - Paris Swingers 5 Barbados Arsenal 2

WP - Paul Thormodsgard (6-1)
LP - Don Henley (0-3)
Save - Ben DeMott (10)

Star of Game - Gail Hopkins (3-3, 2 homers 4 RBI's)

Homers
Paris - Gail Hopkins (7,8)

Recap - Paris scored 3 runs in the 7th to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead and won the game as they got to the Eagles frontman Henley. Thormodsgard fanned 8 batters and now has a 2.23 ERA. Mike Campbell pitched well for Barbados giving up 1 run in 5 innings of work. Hopkins was 3-3 and was the whole Paris offense. Tyler Greene had 2 of the 5 hits for Barbados.

Game #54 - Barbados Arsenal 9 Paris Swingers 5

WP - Fred Burchell (2-1)
LP - Adam Pettyjohn (4-1)

Star of Game - Tom Prince (3-4, 2 RBI's)

Recap - Lee Richmond gave up 4 unearned runs in the first 6 innings and was lifted and Pettyjohn was kerosene and got the loss and watched his ERA soar to 9.66 with 5 earned runs in relief. Barbados oddly started Willie Mitchell again and he lasted 1 1/3 innings but their pen kept them in the game with Edgar Smith and Angel Guzman giving 2 innings each of scoreless ball. Mitch Webster had 4 hits and Mike Kelly drove in 3 runs besides the great hitting outing for light stick Prince. Richie Ashburn had 3 hits and Cal McVey drove in 2 runs in the loss

Standing - Paris Swingers are 34-20 in first place in the NL World Division with a 4 game lead over the 2nd place Baghdad Sultans

Looking Ahead - The Melbourne Caribou come to Paris. Melbourne is 24-30 and tied for 4th in the NL World division with the the Lagos Hammerheads who are both 10 games behind Paris.

WP - Frank Lange (2-5)
LP - Sean Douglass (3-2)

Star of the Game - Henry Larkin - (4-5, grand slam, 5 RBI's)

LP - Adam Pettyjohn (4-2)

Star of Game - Pat Zachry (6 IP, 3 hits, 1 ER, 4 K's)

Homers
Paris -Cal McVey (13)

Recap - Melbourne scored 4 in the top of the 8th to take break a 1-1 tie. Pettyjohn was terrible and should not be on this roster. Zachry was solid for Melbourne. Paris started Joel Collins who matched him with 1 run allowed over 6 innings. Alex Cole had 3 hits and 3 RBI's while Donovan Solano had 2 hits and 3 RBI's to lead Melbourne. Paris only got 3 hits in the game

Game #57

Melbourne Caribou 5 Paris Swingers 3

WP - Hal Reniff (4-0)
LP - Adam Pettyjohn (4-3)
Save - Kevin Jepsen (6)

Star of Game - Bill Gogolewski (6 IP, 6 hits, 1 ER, 4 K's)

Homers
Melbourne - Craig Reynolds (11)

Recap - Paris had a 3-1 lead and the pen squandered it as they went to Pettyjohn again with the same results as night before. Gogolewski was solid and deserved a better fate. Dave Stieb started for Melbourne and gave up 10 hits in 5 innings but fanned 6 batters. Rafael Furcal went 4 for 4 for Melbourne and Ozzie Smith and Reynolds added 2 hits as well. Richie Ashburn had 3 hits and Harlond Clift added 2 but not enough as Paris got swept

Standing - Paris Swingers are 34-23 and in first place in the NL World Division with a 2 game lead over the Baghdad Sultans.

Looking Ahead - Paris has a 6 game road trip with 3 ahead in Edmonton against the Edmonton Bluebirds. Edmonton is 32-25 and in 7th place in the NL West. Then a very pivotal series in Iraq against the 2nd place Baghdad Sultans, we are terrified of reporting from there.

2027 - Series #20 - Edmonton Bluebirds

Ubaldo Jimenez started for Edmonton and he wasn't good yielding 5 runs and 9 hits in 3 innings. Paris had 13 hits with Steve Evans collecting 3 hits and 2 RBI's. LP - Glen Hobbie (4-1)

Star of Game - Lefty Tyler (6 IP, 4 hits, 0 ER, 3 K's)

Homers

2027 - Series #21 - Baghdad Sultans

The Paris Swingers did what they needed and won 2 out of 3 games from the team chasing them in a very hostile environment. When I used to go to Mets games I had to hear jets, with games in Baghdad there are just a lot of explosions and it is accepted as normal.

Game #61 - Paris Swingers 16 Baghdad Sultans 7

WP - Don Ferrarese (2-1)
LP - Gerry Janeski (2-2)

Star of Game - Gail Hopkins (4-5, homer 3 RBI's)

Homers
Paris - Bobby Kielty (5), Steve Evans (8), Byron Buxton (9), Gail Hopkins (10)

Baghdad - Archi Cianfrocco (11), Mitchell Page (15)

Recap - This was a statement game. Joel Collins was granted a 5-4 lead but could not last 4 innings. Ferrarese pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief and got the win. Paris got 9 runs in the 8th inning off of Lee Pfund and Jesse Chavez to punctuate the victory. Kielty drove in 4 runs and each of Evans, Buxton and Hopkins drove in 3 each. Cianfrocco drove in 3 in the loss for Baghdad

Game #62 - Baghdad Sultans 2 Paris Swingers 0

Save - Ruddy Lugo (11)

Star of Game - Weldon Wyckoff (6.2 IP, 6 hits, 0 ER 9 K's)

Homers
Baghdad - Lee King (17)

Recap - Paris got befuddled by a guy who sounds like he should be his own law firm in Wyckoff. Gogolewski fanned 8 batters over 7 innings but has not gotten the run support. Baghdad only had 3 hits but they were a King homer and a Mitchell Page sac fly to get the 2 runs they needed. Lee Richmond started as the DH and got 3 hits in the loss for Paris.

Game #63 - Paris Swingers 6 Baghdad Sultans 4

WP - Paul Thormodsgard (7-1)
LP - Rich Troedson (1-1)
Save - Ben DeMott (12)

Star of Game - Harlond Clift (2-3, 2 homers, 3 RBI's)

Homers
Paris - Harlond Clift (15,16), Gail Hopkins (11)
Baghdad - Miguel Andujar (15,16)

Recap - Paris got 3 in the top of the 6th to break the 2-2 tie and win the series. Thormodsgard gave up 3 runs over 7 innings and struck out 5 batters. David Cone started for Baghdad and allowed just one earned run over 3 2/3 innings but was at 77 pitches. Jack Dawson, Hopkins and Clift had 2 hits each and Paris only had 7 hits but enough to win the game. Andujar had 3 hits and 3 RBI's while Mitchell Page had 2 hits in the defeat for Baghdad.

Standing - Paris Swingers are 37-26 and in first place in the NL World Division leading the Baghdad Sultans by 4 games

Balsamo was a big free agent pickup from St Louis Cardinals. Douglass was solid for 5 innings but gave up those 2 homers. Oddly bullpen was good for 4 innings of scoreless ball to keep Paris in the game. Phillies only had 6 hits but two were longballs. Steve Evans had 2 of the 4 hits by Paris and Richie Ashburn drove in lone run

Game #66 - Philadelphia Phillies 5 Paris Swingers 1

Cal McVey and Dawson each had 3 hits in the victory. Dorgan hit a 2 run shot to account for all the Sioux Falls offense as they were limited to 5 hits

Recap - Paris scored 6 runs in the first inning off of John Kirby who did not record a single out as the starter. Sioux Falls rallied back to tie the game at 8 in the 5th inning and jumped out into the lead with 3 runs in the 6th as they went longball crazy. Lee Richmond was terrible and squandered the big lead quickly, giving up 8 runs in 3 1/3 innings. Robbie Ross came in for Sioux Falls and went hitless for 2 2/3 innings to change momentum. Carey and Hendrick had 4 hits each for Sioux Falls and Dorgan drove in 3 runs in the win. Byron Buxton and Bobby Kielty had 2 RBI's each for Paris.

Bell had 3 hits and 4 RBI's while Felix Jose and Max Carey added 3 hits each in the easy win. Gail Hopkins drove in the lone run for Paris as they only had 5 hits

Standing - Paris Swingers are 42-33 with a 7 game lead in the NL World Division over the Baghdad Sultans and Melbourne Caribou.

Looking Ahead - The Louisville Bats head to Charles de Gaulle airport with a 47-27 record in 5th place in the NL Central trailing the first place Chicago Cubs by 4 1/2 games. Next stop is good for me as we fly to Riverhead to player the Racers.

2027 - Series #26 - Louisville Bats

The Paris Swingers are maintaining a 7 game lead still in the lowly NL World Division despite consistently dropping 2 out of 3 games in each series. I am elated to be home in my childhood bedroom writing as Paris is playing the Riverhead Racers, just a shame we have to cross the Atlantic only to be back here again to play the Mets.

Game #76 - Paris Swingers 2 Louisville Bats 0

WP - Bill Gogolewski (7-4)
LP - Johnny Vander Meer (3-5)
Save - Ben DeMott (16)

Star of Game - Bill Gogolewski (8 IP, 6 hits, 0 ER 8 K's)

Homers
Paris - Richie Ashburn (5), Byron Buxton (13)

Recap - Gogolewski continues to dazzle and lowers his ERA to 2.50 as he proves the experts wrong like myself every day. Vander Meer was equally tough, he struck out 14 batters in 7 innings but got no run support. Paris only had 4 hits but 2 were longballs as Buxton is a homer or out kind of guy. Derek Bell and Ryan Braun got 2 hits each for Louisville but that was scattered for the shutout.

Game #77 - Louisville Bats 7 Paris Swingers 4

WP - Rich Nye (7-4)
LP - Paul Thormodsgard (9-2)
Save - Mike Adams (15)

Star of Game - Rich Nye (6.1 IP, 5 hits, 2 ER, 4 K's)

Homers
Louisville - Bob Meusel (22), Heinie Manush (16), Ron Karkovice (9)
Paris - Byron Buxton (14)

Recap - Louisville jumps all over Thormodsgard for 5 runs and 7 hits over 5 2/3 innings to stop his winning streak. Nye was tough for Louisville as Paris got to reliever Ricky Bottalico for 2 of the 4 runs allowed. Manush, Meusel and Karkovice had 2 RBI's each while Ryan Braun and Alfredo Amezaga had 2 hits each. Buxton hit a 2 run shot for Paris and they got 2 hit games from Gail Hopkins and Harlond Clift.

Game #78 - Louisville Bats 7 Paris Swingers 5

WP - Fred Link (8-2)
LP - Lee Richmond (2-2)
Save - Mike Adams (16)

Star of Game - Bob Meusel (2-3, 2 homers)

Homers
Louisville - Yogi Berra (10), Bob Meusel (23,24), Ryan Braun (23)
Paris - Byron Buxton (15)

Recap - Richmond gave up 5 runs in 4 2/3 innings and Adam Pettyjohn gave up 2 more runs and this became an insurmountable lead as Paris drops the series at home. Link was strong with 1 run allowed in 6 innings and once again Paris got to Ricky Bottalico for 4 runs. Berra drove in 3 runs for Louisville while Meusel and Heinie Manush had 2 hits each. Richie Ashburn and Buxton had 2 hits apiece for Paris but they rallied too late

Standing - Paris Swingers are 43-35 which is good for first place in the NL World Division with a 7 game lead over both the Kimberley Ocelots and Melbourne Caribou.

Looking Ahead - Paris is now in Riverhead to play the Riverhead Racers who are 52-26 which is good for 3rd place in the NL East trailing the first place combination of Brooklyn Brawlers and New York Mets by one game. Paris will then head home to play another good team in the Orlando Alliance.
