Indiana won the final game by a score of 6-1 at Bart Kaufman Field and that concluded the series, 2-1.

"Relief is the biggest thing," Indiana first baseman John Robertson said when asked how he felt. "It's a grind both mentally and physically to have a long series like this, but our guys stuck with it and USC deserves credit for the hard fight."

Despite coming out on the losing side, the series MVP award went to UCF center fielder Mike J Griffin. Griffin told a reporter from the UCF News that he was disappointed in the loss, and hopes to be back next year competing for the College World Series

NCAA pundits who figured the Wildcard between the NC State Wolfpack and Miami Hurricanes would go the distance were right on the mark.

The two teams battled back and forth in a spirited series, with NC State coming out on top thanks to a 6-5 win in the deciding game at Doak Field, to wrap things up 2-1.

"You get to the last game and anything can happen, so we're overjoyed to come out on top," said Wolfpack first baseman Ethan Berry, who was named series MVP.

The Arkansas Razorbacks outclassed the Texas Tech Red Raiders in all facets of the game throughout the AL Wildcard.

"We're a bit surprised it's over in a sweep, to be honest with you," said catcher Jim Stephens, who hit .571 in the series.

"Everything's clicking for us right now," said Lee Sabin, who was named MVP for the series.

It's a sweet sweep for the Old Dominion Monarchs and they have won the Wildcard. The Oklahoma State Cowboys were not able to keep pace with the Monarchs and dropped the series in short order, losing 7-2 in the deciding game.

"This wasn't really the effort we hoped for," said Oklahoma State manager Danny Bonilla.

It's now on to the Regionals for Old Dominion after their 2-0 series win.

Leading the way for the winners was left fielder Ray Levin, who was named MVP. For the series, Levin hit .750 with a .750 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 3 runs.

With a 4-2 win to wrap up the series at Ballpark of Cedar Falls, the Ole Miss Rebels have eliminated the Northern Iowa Panthers in the Wildcard and move on to the Regionals.

Ole Miss controlled the series from the outset and won it in a 2-0 sweep.

Brian Bolton led the charge offensively for the victors, winning series MVP honors. He posted a .429 batting average, along with a .556 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 3 runs.

Florida Takes Wildcard:

On paper, the Florida Gators will be credited with a 2-0 sweep of the Sacramento State Hornets in the Wildcard, to advance to the Regionals.

In reality, said starting pitcher Mike F McCormick, it was a lot harder-fought than that might suggest.

"They are a great team and although we won every game, it wasn't easy by any stretch of the imagination," he said.

Florida won the final game by a 3-0 score at John Smith Field.

McCormick earned series MVP honors for the Gators, with a 0.00 ERA over 7 innings pitched. He also had a 1-0 record and 9 strikeouts.

Mark one up for the Boston College Eagles.

In the crucial final game, they put away the Utah Utes 4-1 at Smith's Ballpark to win the Wildcard, 2-1 and advance to the Regionals.

Although his team came up short, Utah's Dusty Denny was named the series MVP, with many of the league media feeling the series would have been over much sooner if not for his contributions.

"Denny did a lot to keep Utah in it, no doubt about that," said Eagles manager Roberto Alcazar.

The Oregon State Beavers are off to the Regionals after an exciting Wildcard triumph.

Oregon State downed the North Carolina Tar Heels, but needed the entire series to do so, with a 9-2 win tonight at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field wrapping up the series 2-1.

"It's every guy in this room that made this happen. Without us all pulling in the same direction, we don't win this series," said Jonathan Schoop, who earned MVP honors for a standout offensive series.

Schoop put up a .417 with a .462 on-base percentage in the series. He also had 3 home runs, drove in 4 runs and scored 3 runs himself.

Cal Poly punched its ticket to the Regionals on the strength of a 9-3 win in the deciding game, which wrapped up the series 2-0.

The Wildcard went the distance before it all was said and done.

The Georgia Bulldogs and the Kentucky Wildcats went at it tooth-and-nail and when it was over at Kentucky Proud Park, the winner was the Bulldogs.

They put away Kentucky 3-2 to cinch the series and won the right to move onto the Regionals.

For his fine play, even in a losing effort, Kentucky third baseman Yairo Munoz was given the series Most Valuable Player Award. He hit .545, scored 4 runs and batted in 3 to win the honor.

"It's nice that someone noticed my numbers, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a win," he said.

"It's a good news, bad news thing I guess," he said. "Unfortunately the bad news is really bad -- our season is over."

Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the American League Regionals. It turned out quite a bit different.

In what will no doubt go down as a classic NCAA series for both clubs, the Boston College Eagles prevailed over the Oregon State Beavers in the Regionals today.

With the ups and downs of the series thrilling fans on both sides, Boston College won the final game by a score of 8-7 and took the series 2-1.

"In the end, it's our fans who went home happy, but a series like this is good for all fans and for everyone in baseball," said Boston College starting pitcher Ralph Works, who earned series MVP honors.

Works posted a 0.00 ERA on the series, throwing 8 innings and posting a 1-0 record.

Dan Kirgan said he expected the Super Regionals to be "a battle from start to finish."

In the end, it was nothing more than a minor skirmish, as the NC State Wolfpack encountered little resistance in sweeping the Stanford Cardinal, to advance to the Semi Finals.

"It may have been a sweep, but it still was a tough series," said Kirgan.
