Cards news: Preview of series with Rockies
I deleted the e-mail from the front office before I could post it, but the Cardinals will remain at home following their four-game split with the Cubs for three games against the Colorado Rockies.
The Rockies come into the series at 14-14 and in third place in the NL West, three games behind the San Diego Padres. Not long ago, the Cardinals took two of three games against the Rockies in a series played in Denver. |

Cards news: Catcher Jake Rogers demoted to Memphis, Jenner called up
The Cardinals have demoted catcher Jake Rogers to AAA Memphis.
Given the starting job to begin the season, Rogers has struggled mightily in the first month plus of the season, batting just .136 with one home run and five RBIs. Called up will be Jesse Jenner who had been serving as backup to prospect Zachary Jackson with the Redbirds. Jackson, who is hitting .360 with seven homers and 18 RBIs, will remain in the minor to keep up his playing time. Jenner has hit .292 with no homers and three RBIs in three games for Memphis. Austin Hedges will become the primary starter for the major league team. |

Cards news: Preview of Phillies series; Kendall sent to AAA, Arozorena called up
After dropping the first two games of the series for the second consecutive time, the Cardinals once again stepped up to take the finale winning their third game of three at Miller Park in Milwaukee.
The Cardinals now return to Busch Stadium for a trio of games against Philadelphia. The Phillies sit at 15-18 and in third place in the NL East, already 8.5 games behind the first place Mets. **** The Cardinals also have made a roster move sending left-handed hitting outfielder Jeren Kendall to AAA Memphis and called up right-handed hitting outfielder Randy Arozarena.
Kendall was expected to see major playing time this season, as he was readied for full-time duty -- Ender Inciarte will be a free agent after the season -- in 2022. But he has struggled batting just .163 with two home runs and four RBIs in 22 games. This will be the third time since 2018 Arozarena has spent time with the big club and the second time in 2022. He went 3 for 7 while playing in a pair of games earlier this year. Last edited by rink23; 10-11-2018 at 04:25 AM. |
