Cards notes: Herrera gone for a year, needs rotator cuff surgery
Cardinals relief pitcher Kelvin Herrera has been placed on the 60-day disabled list and is expected to miss at least a full season after being diagnosed with a rotator cuff tear which will require surgery.
The injury, almost, comes as a relief as Herrera has pitched terribly boasting an ERA of 7.00 in eight appearances, and refused to go to AAA Memphis despite his struggles when the team needed to make a roster move. First baseman/third baseman Luis Valbuena has been called up from AAA Memphis to take his place. |

Cards notes: Moore gone for six weeks, Thorpe called up
Matt Moore has been the St. Louis Cardinals most consistent starter through the early part of the season, but it will be at least six weeks until they see him again after he left their 1-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds in the fourth inning with shoulder bursitis.
Highly-touted rookie Lewis Thorpe will come up from AAA Memphis and take his place in the rotation. |

Cards notes: Edman begins rehab assignment
Cardinals middle infielder Tommy Edman has begin a rehab assignment at AAA Memphis after being out since the fourth game of the season with a knee injury.
Edman is expected to only play three or four games for the Redbirds before being called back up to the majors. |

Cards notes: Preview of series with Brewers
The Cardinals are continuing to struggle to get back above .500 after splitting their four-game series against the Reds in Cincinnati.
I accidently deleted the e-mail regarding the upcoming three-game series against the Brewers, but that's what it is: a trio of games at Miwaukee's Miller Park. |

Cards notes: Preview of series with Pirates
The Cardinals are back in a tailspin after dropping three straight in Milwaukee to the Brewers, landing them back in last place, 7.5 game in back of first-place Cincinnati.
They'll get to try and right themselves at home as the Pirates are bound for Busch Stadium for a trio of games. Last edited by rink23; 05-28-2018 at 03:38 AM. |
