While OOTP posts "we're #1" with the current version of their game http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...we-re-1-a.html when you actually look at the metacritic link while it is true they are tied for #1 out of 193 based on 8 reviewer reviews, among users they're tied for #183 out of 193 based on 173 user reviews!

Assuming the game really is good, the explanation for such poor user reviews likely connects to the board negativity IMO; you'd think those that supposedly support they game/developers so much would realize how damaging what they do is.....

I wouldn't blame the OOTP folks for the people who are defending the game and blaming the patch bugs on the consumers. Most of the defenders are long-time users who have loved this game for years and years, so you have to understand that their vision is clouded by that.

I'm on the fence about all these problems, probably because I haven't actually purchased 17 because the new features did not intrigue me. I will admit the problems with patches have kept me from buying 17 over the past month or so. BUT, I am confident OOTP is working to fix the problems that have been introduced. That's the company's standard business practice, and it's rare in the sports gaming world.

On the other hand, I think the criticism you and others have brought forth is healthy for the game. By commanding a better product, the consumers put pressure on the company to provide a better product. Matt has already said there will be changes to how they test patches before releasing them. That's called progress, and it's a good thing.

probably not until the next update, most likely Sept. if past history holds.
You can manually move them in commish mode ..... just a thought.

I shortened your quote and a thumbs up for what you say throughout. This whole thread has evolved into a real mess not by any one spontaneous comment but the direction of the debate(s) as a whole. If I'm wrong, SORRY! Million times over. But a thread that begins with an update that has caused all this ill feeling is not just available for download still, but in fact comes with a recommendation for us to install, well that practice is in my view wrong. Some that have contributed to this thread should not have it both ways when it comes to pointing fingers as to whom should be to blame for the in-game issues due to that particular patch, nor question as to why they could possibly be upset for being blamed in the first place. It is those that were blamed unfairly that I stood up for.

Blame won't get us anywhere, and there's really no right or wrong on this. What it is, it is. We wait. It gets fixed, and hopefully ALL is good. Every one of you is valued. We're a team with all the variety of personality traits, and we can't turn them off. We are who we are.

About the D/L Manager - not for gamers at all... it's for people with crappy connections that cannot complete a download. you can pick them up where they failed. so, when ootp fails half way through, you start half way through when you reconnect or it will automatically do it while you sleep etc etc whatver, i avoid them like the plague.
