when you do a replay that includes all historical trransactions, every player that was on that team, that year is available for the entire season...i have a 35 man roster for the whole season...however, i am using the actual lineups and starters for the games that were played...thats why pitchers such as Bruce Berenyi have started a lot of games this year

Actually never heard of Bruce Berenyi before this replay, and I wish I hadn't ever.

Bobby O went the distance but picked up the loss as the STL Cardinals took this game from the Mets 7-4 @ Busch Stadium.
He only gave up 2 ER, as the Mets committed 3 errors in the 4th inning that allowed Cardinals runners to score.
Carter, Wilson and Foster each had HRs in the loss, and Mookie had 2 hits today.
But. when you give an opposing team extra outs, it always seems to bite you in the A$$.

July Schedule

The 1986 July schedule has the Mets playing against the NL West most of the month.
We finish the series against the Cards, then we have HOU, CIN, ATL, and at the end of the month, 4 games against the Cubs.
And of course, we have the All-Star Game on the 15th.
In 1986, the mid-summer classic was played at the Houston Astrodome.
Looking forward to that game.

El Sid pitched 7 innings, struck out 9 and only gave up 2 runs, but he did not get the win.
But the Mets did, as they pulled out a close one against the STL Cardinals 3-2 @ Busch Stadium.
Wally Backman and Ray Knight had two big hits in this game, and El Sid was marvelous.
But it was Randy Myers getting his 1st win of the season, and Roger McDowell grabbed his 11th save out of the fire with STL having bases loaded in the 9th.
The Mets will try to win the series tomorrow night.

The NY Mets might have gotten their best game from Rick Aguilera this year, as he only gives up 3 earned runs en route to his 2nd win.
The Mets get the win over the Cardinals 7-5 @ Busch Stadium.
Wally Backman and Rick Aguilera each had 3 hits in the game, and Rick had 3 RBIs.
Its nice to see a pitcher help out his own cause in the NL.
McDowell got his 12th save of the season, and with the win, the Mets take the series as well.
Next Up: A 4-game series against the Houston Astros @ Shea Stadium.

Happy 4th of July!!!
For this game, the NY Mets provided the fireworks as they stopped the HOU Astros 8-1 @ Shea Stadium.
Dr.K gets his 10th win of the season as he gives up only 1 run on 7 hits, while striking out 7 batters.
Lenny Dykstra was 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs, and Gary Carter hit his 11th HR on the year.

The NY Mets stopped the HOU Astros by a score of 5-2 @ Shea Stadium.
Bobby O pitches another great game, but Roger McDowell blows the decision by giving up a 2-run HR to HOU Garner.
But the Mets tack on 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th to grab the win.
Ray Knight gets the Mets Man as he goes 2 for 3 with an RBI.
Jesse Orosco gets his 13th save of the year.

This Week in Baseball--1986

The halfway point of the 1986 season has been reached.
The 1986 Mets are -9 behind the actual record and are holding a marginal 4.5 game lead on the PHI Phillies.
However, July is off to a 4-1 start and we need to continue winning.
Havent talked about the rest of the majors since this is a replay, but...
ALE: Its a three horse race between the Tigers, Blue Jays and Yankees. It looks like the Red Sox will NOT be in the playoffs.
ALW: The Angels and the Athletics are still holding on that division.
NLE: The Mets are where they should be.
NLW: There's a dogfight in the west between the Giants, Reds, and Astros.

Rick Aguilera starts tonight's game and pitches very well.
Then the Mets bullpen blows up as Rick Anderson gives up 3 ER as the Reds hand the Mets a loss, 5-2 @ Shea.
CIN Bill Guillickson, again, pitches well against the Mets lineup.
Gary Carter was the Mets Man, as he went 2 for 3 tonight.

The NY Mets slipped past the CIN Reds 4-3 @ Shea Stadium.
Ron Darling notches his 9th win of the season, going 6 innings, giving up 1 run on 6 hits.
Howard Johnson hit his 3rd HR of the year while going 2 for 4, which earns him the Mets Man award.
Dykstra and Hernandez also had 2 hits today.

The Mets lineup does the damage, and Dr. K has good outing as the Mets take this win against the Reds 8-4 @ Shea.
Dr. K goes 7 innings, gives up 3 runs and strikes out 5.
Kevin Mitchell gets the Mets Man award as he goes 2 for 3 with a big 3-run HR in the 4th.
Wilson, Strawberry, Hearn and Gooden had 2 hits each as well.
We take the series against the Reds 2-1.
Next up: A 4-game series against the Atlanta Braves @ Shea, which will be our last set of games before the All-Star Break.
Those games against Atlanta are going to be wild...i can guarantee that.

ATL Zane Smith out-dueled Bobby O as the ATL Braves shutout the NY Mets 4-0 @ Shea Stadium.

We finally get a game on the Braves as Wally Backman smacks a pinch hit GW-triple in the bottom of the 12th inning to lead the Mets to victory 3-2 @ Shea Stadium.
Rick Aguilera was very good in this game, holding the Braves to no runs on 5 hits.
Doug Sisk got the win, though, in extra innings.
Lenny Dykstra was 3 for 6 today, so he gets the Mets Man award.
Im still taking over this team fully after the All-Star Game in Houston.

RP: 48-35
RL: 58-25 (Win vs ATL 10-1) -10

Side Note: I usually do a Sunday Report, but because the 1986 season schedule is a day later than the 2015 calendar, i will give an All-Star Break report after tomorrow's game.
