The A's did a great job against the Tigers in this series. I'm amazed at the way they've been so patient at the plate, wearing the Tigers starters down - they only last 5 innings in each of the 4 games. Been a while since I've seen anything like THAT.

I think the A's will make the playoffs if they keep this up.

Congrats to the surging A's (8-2 in last 10) for taking the series from Texas and moving into a divisional tie with the same.

Keep beating those Rangers down!

We'll start the beatdown on the Astros tonight.

Tough not to be sad as an Astros fan right now. Brighter days seem to be ahead, just don't know when they will quit dealing off pieces and actually try to build a winning team again.

I must find a competing team to root for just for this year, so I can enjoy the post season. I'm not sure what team to root for though.

Maybe the A's

The A's are winning because I'm on a vacation right now and haven't been able to watch any games since the homestand started. They always win a lot when I'm gone on trips so you're welcome.

The A's are doing pretty good, up 1.5 over Texas at this point.

Looking at both team's schedule, looks like the A's have the easier one - the Rangers have to play Pittsburgh, the A's, and the Rays all in succession.

Oakland, on the other hand, of the next 6 series, only one team has a better than .500 record: Texas.

The division title is the A's to win or lose.

Very true. Aaaand if the playoffs were to start today, they'd be playing the Tigers. That's not an easy matchup for either team. But then again, the Red Sox aren't easy either.

And an early game alert. 4-0 A's.

Make that a 3.5 game lead and the magic number is 14.

A 3 game sweep here against a scuffling Texas team would all but seal it. It would be nice to put the division away before game 162.

I would love to have the last few days of the season to chill.

Holy crap. Nail-biter but the A's survived. Magic number is 12, lead in the west is 4.5!

Jesus.... I turned it off in the top of the 8th and I'm glad I did. I would have probably ripped out my hair.

After all of our bullpen problems over the past couple weeks, I was holding my breath all throughout the 9th. 1 more game for the sweep.

Jarrod Parker scratched from today's start because he's puking his guts out. Michael Choice has also been down with food poisoning.

If a restaurant in Arlington was going to conspire to poison the A's, they should've poisoned Bartolo.
