Yeah, and based on his lack of playing time and his current ratings I think the end is near for Stargell, and I'm pretty sure he's not going to get 400. Unfortunately I'd be surprised if he gets 370.

Last year Bill McNulty hit 72 home runs in a season, and this year he passed 400 career home runs. While he didn't hit any home runs in the majors, he was a slugger in the minor leagues, collecting 237 minor league home runs, including 55 in 1972 for the Sacramento Solons.

9/6/1978 - Ishiguro hits 400th

Kazuhiro Ishiguro hit career home run number 400 today. Ishiguro played in Japan, and although I don't have his career totals wasn't a home run hitter. Ishiguro benefited greatly from luck - importing with an 8 power rating, which jumped to 17 within 4 years, which coincided with his rise to the top of the leaderboards.

Robson did become a coach after his playing days, and did author a book called The Hitting Edge - The Hitting Edge: Tom Robson: 9780736033367: Amazon.com: Books

C'mon, Yaz, you only got to knock out 12 more Home Runs. Only 12 Home Runs.

1980 - Yaz and Stargell call it quits

Another two bites the dust. Both Carl Yastrzemski and Willie Stargell retired, failing to reach 400 home runs.

Yaz hit 388 and came pretty close, but couldn't get the job done in the end and overcome his injuries.

Stargell hit 367. I don't know if I should be happy that they are getting closer, but regardless it's failures number 17 and 18 in a row.

Tom Robson led the league this year with 40 home runs.

It seems that a lot of trouble with the real-life 400 Club members seems to be injuries. This has probably been asked before, but what injury frequency setting are you using?

I've got the injury setting to low right now. It's definitely been a problem with quite a few.

Ike Hampton hit home run number 400 for his career today. Hampton was another of the players who didn't have much success in real life, hitting just 4 home runs, but found his power stroke in the replay.

1981 - Lezcano leads the league

I never really remembered Sizto Lezcano as a home run hitter, although he hit 28 home runs in real life in 1979. This year Lezcano led the league after hitting 28 home runs.

Adrian Garrett retired from baseball with 588 career home runs. Garrett hit just 11 home runs in the majors in real life, but that only tells part of the story. Garrett hit more than 400 home runs , many of which came in the minors. Garrett hit 43 home runs in the PCL in 1971, and 29 in the Texas League in 1970. Garrett also spent time in Japan, tieing a record by hitting 15 home runs in April in 1978, and hit 30 home runs before the All-Star break the same year. He was the MVP of the All-Star game after hitting 3 home runs in the game.

Bob Beall and Masashi Takenouchi debuted on the career leaders, while Don Eggert (365) and Jim Baxes (362) dropped off.
