Irrational league

Brokenlymb, New Ork

Friesday -Peril 17, 2601

Shreds SP Gilfrid Borgmann flung 11.1 inning, but he couldn’t get a decision though he gave up only 7 hits. With Sinsenasty leading 3-2 in the bottom of the 6th, Dagger Gravelshard singled through shirt to knot the score 3-3. Agitated Ork fans eager for an easy win over the soft Shreds whooped it up after Borgmann was hooked in the bottom of the 12th with one out and one on. Firestarter Hildebart Egidius immediately gave a fat fling to Gransmiter who singled. Two on. Next clubber Kadish Deepdigger hit a hot groundhog into wight field. Game over. Daggers tear them into Shreds 4-3.

Satyrday -Peril 18, 2601

Dagger clubbers were disappointed when SP Gottolf Bogendorf with his bloated 20.57 ERA left the game with back tightness ( in other words, lack of backbone!) after flinging to and walking one clubber in the 1st. Reliever Egidius (1-0,0.00, 4) redeemed himself from yesterday’s performance and white-eyed the Daggers over four innings. Brokenlymb starter Spiritsmasher (1-1, 6.82, 11) gave up all 3 hits in the game for Sinsenasty in the 2nd when they scored 3, but he was wild walking 7, and took the loss, 5-1 Shreds.

Stunday – Peril 19, 2601

Brokenlymb rolled out the big cannons as Flamefighter (a two-run shot) and back-to-back homers by Gravelshard and Warbreaker buried Sinsenasty 5-1. Dagger Sirag Doomsmith (2-1, 2.70, 10) outflung Schlitzmann (0-3, 6.86, 7) as the Daggers (9-3) having taken two of three from the Sinsenasty kept within a game of 1st place Piggsplurgh, whereas the Shreds (4-8) were stuck floundering in 6th.

Dagger Tokar Warbreaker (.394, 5, 9), Aridzone-native, leads the MBL with 5 homeruns and .909 slugging, and teammate Balir Flamefighter ( .412, 3, 14) is the bloodball, IL RBI leader with 14.

A Bloody-eyed View of Wiggley Field Name: th_bears_B29666_020107_FFFFFF_B29666_B.png
Views: 234

Whether it is the undulating hips of Ogre cheerleaders performing their lascivious dance routines (now that’s a gruesome thought!) or the disgustingly huge worms present in the high grasses in the field, the name, Wiggley Field, was the result. Or it could be the squirming feeling that visiting outfielders sense when turning backwards to the bleachers behind them and seeing a vast sea of angry, grinning, tusk-filled faces of sun-drenched Ogre fans in the bleachers from the elfield fowl pole all the way to wight.

Maybe it’s the incessant itching that results from any contact with the Quickitch Ivy walls that plague visiting outfielders. The home team fielders are protected by a magic spell and are immune to the irritating effects of any contact with the bright green leaves. The Klubs even hide extra bloodballs within the tangled green that extends across the outfield fences, and suddenly fling one back instead of the one that was clubbed.

It’s 400 feet to dead center in the home park of the Quikargo Klubs, and there is a huge triangular–shaped bleacher section in centaur that ends in a scoreboard which dares clubbers to hit it. A banner hangs displaying a W for “wimp’ and a L for “lame” and is raised whenever a bloodball is hit in that direction but falls short of clearing the bleachers there.

A row of ratty-looking houses can be seen scarring the far view behind the wight field walls. Usually derelicts and other freeloaders can be spotted lounging on those rooftops.

The frenzied fans of this Blowhard City team raise a raucous from the singing of the Blood Mangled Banner to the shouting by the grump at the last out of the game.

Great write-ups. I'm impressed by the effort you're putting into this. I discovered a java-based Blood Bowl game (it's free!) and now I think I might have to start a little side project. Thank you for being a 'Time Waste' enabler ! Seriously, great stuff

Thanks very much and it's been a lot of fun immersing myself in this strange world. Though I may never get out!

There's also a new pc game on Blood Bowl that came out fairly recently you might take a look at. Haven't got it myself.

Was hoping to read your new "holiday league" dynasty. Any news?

Piggsplurgh’s Mgr. Veserg the Desolator has two aceholes - leftclawer Diggerbluff and rightclawer Brownbuck. He went with the righty to begin the three-game series as SP Ram Brownbuck was on the burial mound taking on the Klubs at the “Unfriendly Confines” of Wiggley Field for Quikargo’s home opener. Brownbuck (3-0, 1.13, 14) flung a delirious mix of gliders, cut ‘n runs and changelings to confound the clubbers giving up five singles in 7 innings. By then Ram had a 5-0 lead with fine support from Topfoot (.462, 1,11) who homered, drove in 3 and scored 2. Tuzekk the Irate (.367, 2, 5) had a two-run roundtripper in the bottom of the 9th but Crumblefoot finally bore down, and the Pies won the opener 5-2.

Brownbuck won his third game in the month of Peril tying him with co-acehole Diggerbuff..

Satyrday – Peril 18, 2601

SP Redsack suffered fat knee running out a double in the bottom of the 1st and was replaced by firestarter Crumblefoot. Neither he nor Hillyleaf could stem the tide of a resurgent clubbing Quikargo team. Despite a 5-4 lead in the 7th, Hillyleaf served a nice bloodball on a silver platter and Kurgurk the Enraged (.367, 2, 9) banged it 371’ft. into the elfield bleachers to tie it 5-5. Barott the Strange doubled (.489, 0, 8) and Norghatt the Battle-scarred and Ozreg the Devourer both singled; 7-5 Klubs. That sapped the filling of the Pies and they went on to lose 9-6. With that kind of support even a mush-leaguer like Kerghalt the Executioner (2-1, 7.90, 11) could pick up a win.

Well, I've lost all my Season III notes due to some laptop-related mischief, which really sucks because I was about 75% done. Now I'm toying with the idea of buying the latest version of OOTP and starting from scratch with a new concept.

What a bummer! I've lost a few projects a few times and felt like never going back... I did. Looking forward to your next. Good luck.

Pie manager Veserg decided to shake things up and twist the Klubs’ mind. Easily done by the way. He had Perem Butterthistle blunt on the first fling of the game and the little runt beat it out for an injuryfield hit. Then fearing the old “club and race” as Butterthistle got a huge lead off of fist, SP Togelt the Unbearable dangled a changeling over the plate and Veserg had Preredo Barnworthy swinging for the seats ,and he delivered a 400 foot homer onto the ugly noggin of an Ogre fan in the elfield stands. The furious Togelt then walked Topfoot, Worrycleve doubled and Stonefettle was plunked. With two down, Togelt plunked another clubber, Hardown , and a run scored. The Pies had a 3-0 cushion.

The Klubs got to SP Goodlock in the 4th to tie it 3-3; Ozreg the Devourer doubled in two and Thuralg the Confused had a ribeye single. In the 6th, Goodlock was useless giving up a two-run single to Yereth the Sorrowful and the Klubs took a two-run lead, 5-3.

Punch-hitter Pieplate Manglewort hit a sacrifice fly to the gods to drive in Whithill making it 5-4 in the 8th. With Longpond on fist, Togelt was relieved by Nargherghl the Vast with Butterthistle comig to the pie plate. The Klubs thought blunt as the tying run was on second with one out. Pie Mgr. Veserg had Butterthistle show blunt and took a ball. Then Veserg put the club sign on. Butterthistle (.348, 3, 12) gripped the knob of his tiny club and Nargherghl the Vast flung a thunderbolt. Butterthistle hammered the sphere into the elfield bleachers. As Vast watched the bloodball disappear from view, he kicked the mound and his fist and hurt basemen too when they came over to calm the up-set reliever down. The Halflings from Piggsplurgh had a 7-5 lead going into the bottom of the 9th.

With two out in the 9th the Klubs , Ezrag the Bloodhanded and Derghrot the Exterminator singled. Kurghurk the Enraged singled through the shirtstop. Punch-racer Morghret the Eager came steaming towards home plate as centaurfielder Whithill’s sling reached the glove of grabber Longpond. The grabber slammed the mitt into Eager’s outstretched claws… in time for the out. Piggsplurgh flung a pie into Quikargo’s face for the victory! The Pies mobbed CF Whithill and was nearly flattened by the crush of his teammates.

The Pieplates (10-2) proudly remained in first place a game ahead of the relentless Daggers. The Klubs (5-8) staggered in 5th.

The 9th inning nearly scared the straggly beards right off the faces of the drunken Dwarf Bards. Leading 8 nuthin’ the Bards experienced a dramatic rally by the worst clubbing team in the magers, the Philbellies (.197 team clubbing average). Toilir Bloodigger was on cemetery hill flinging a white-sheeted game. Then with two on and two out Dark Elf Gemdreamer laced a double to centaur driving in two. He walked the next two to load the bases with angry pale faces. With a 0-1 count, Battledragon hit a grandslam to wight field, The score was 8-6 and still only one out. Bloodigger got the ceremonial silver hook and Lowsmasher trudged in once more. He disposed of the two weak-clubbing Philbellies with ease for his fourth straight save! The Bards extend their winning streak to five.

Satyrday - Peril 18, 2601

Killerelfia SP Grayhawk just wasn’t himself. He actually flung a gem for 8 innings allowing a measly single and took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the dreaded 9th. Battledragon had doubled in the first run and Doomcarver the second in the 6th. The pressure of winning must have gotten to Grayhawk in the 9th. He walked Clubbeard. After Deepcutter singled to wight, Beamfighter replaced Blooddigger. He got the second out, but Deepdrill singled to centaur and Monstersmiter hit a three-run-round tripper. The Bards won another 4-2 and their sixth straight.

Philbellies acehole and only decent starter Tarotis Nestcarver (2-1, 2.70, 12) gave Screwloose a hangover as he limited the streaking Bards to 8 hits and I run in 6 innings. The Philbelly relievers miraculously held off the Bards and Killerlefia won it, 5-3. A bases-loaded opportunity in the bottom of the 9th was lost when Selin Beamfighter groundhogged out.

Killerelfia (3-10) stagnated in 8th place while Screwloose (7-6) having had their win streak snapped had possession of 4th, 3.5 games back.

SP Tinil-gan Mistwood (2-1, 0.87, 9) had an easy time with the average clubbing of the New Ork team allowing one run and 4 hits over 7 innings. Meanwhile the Graves slashed 9 runs and 12 hits to crown the Tyrants 9-1. Hot-clubbing Peacehammer (.333, 2, 7) was 3 for 4, and Zephyrsmile (.367, 1, 9) and Hotlance were 2 for 5.

Satyrday - Peril 18, 2601

Flinging a six-hitter over 7 innings in the second game of the series, SP Riond Ironbull (2-0, 2.77, 5) beat New Ork 6-1. Elung Strongdance (.368, 1, 8) led the clubbing going 3 for 4 and driving in 4 ribeyes. The miserable green Goblin SP Brainfart (1-3, 11.72, 9) lost his third of the year.

The Goblins made a contest of sorts in the third game of the series leading 4-3 after four and a half innings. In the bottom of the 5th, Sulad Ashbone dribbled a fly bloodball that dropped and drove in two off SP Battlechain to make it 5-4 Graves. Then in the 6th after fowling off six straight flings by Battlechain, Cuttear grasstrimmed a sizzler past hurt base to drive in two more runs, 7-4 Graves. SP Eowiorill Divewit (2-0, 6.57, 13) flung a complete game to stymie the Tyrants. This time it was Peacehammer ( 2 for 4), Falconquester (3 for 4) and Cuttear (2 rbi) who battered New Ork flinging.

The fourth place Bosstown Graves (8-4) dethroned the Tyrants in three straight games at Graves Field. They have the second best ERA in the IL at 2.97 and are third best in clubbing average (.298).

It is no surprise that New Ork (4-8) in 7th is at the edge of the 8th place pit –one game ahead of the foolish Philbellies. Mostly their fall is due to their horrendous flinging (6.30 ERA), the worst in the Irrational League. Their big guns were silent against Graves’ flinging. Clubbing in the series, slumping Goblins Hatebreaker was 0 for 11, Madkiller 0 for 12, and Fangclaw 2 for 10.

The 2601 Fall Star Game - Goon 16, 2601

Chewsday – Goon 16, 2601

Dathroat, Mashagain

THE 2601 FALLING STAR GAME

Over 52000 rather disgusting fans of all eight participating MLB races (as well as even more disreputable-looking wights, snotlings, gnomes and other unimportant creatures) attended the first Falling Star Game in Dathroat.

Orc Redush Bladeshaman was starting on the burial mound for the Hysterikan League Falling Stars and breezed through the Fall Star Irrationals in the 1st at Rigged Stadium. He struck out Kurghurk the Enraged and Kbdug Gasyell both of whom swung for the heavens of the gods.

SP Tarotis Nestcarver of the Irrationals got into deep horse droppings immediately in the bottom of the 1st as he carved Varget the Villanous in the ribs. With one down, Halfling Rumbleby hit a broken-club pop to the shirtstop, Kurghurk, who dropped it. Two on. It appeared that the Irrational injuryfielders had never grabbed a bloodball before. Chaosfire mangled a grasstrimmer down the fist base line and the bases were full. Ogre Tozew the Unavoidable drooled a hit to the left of the mound and beat the sling by Nestcarver for an infield hit. Varget scored. 1-0 Hysterikans. Goblin Cleaverbrain did what he has done well all season so far –drive in runs; he lifted a sacrifice fly to the gods and the Hysterikans lead 2-0.

Bladeshaman started the 2nd where he had left off last inning by fanning Derghrot the Exterminator swinging. Up next, Yavaruek Chaosfire swung though Bladeshaman’s thunderball for the fourth swinging strikeout in a row! But then the bloodball god of errors, Stewheart, intervened. Grabber Tozew let the bloodball get past him and Chaosfire ended up on fist base. The ruffled Bladeshaman walked Warbreaker and then Quartzkiller Beltemore chopped a single past fist to load the bases. Cavepick crossbolted a drive to centaur and it was 2-1 Hysterikans. Nestcarver struck out swinging for Bladeshaman’s fifth K. But the bases were still loaded for Topfoot who beat out an infield hit to hurt base. Tied 2-2. Kurghurk made up for his earlier muff and singled to wight, but Cleaverbrain couldn’t get his claws on it and it sped past him, so two runs scored. 4-2 Irratonals (“Nuk, Nuk…Who’s there!...Not Cleaverbrain!”).

After this scoring frenzy, flinging dominated the action; Irrational flingers – Nestcarver, Mistwood, Holymountain, Gravelshard, Furghagg the Vacuous, Crumblefoot and Egidius blanked the Hysterikans though 8 innings allowing singles by Bladesman in the 2nd and Cleaverbrain in the 6th. The Hysterikan hurlers were nearly as good except in the 6th when Chaosfire, Warbreaker and Quartzkiller singled off Skullsnapper, and a run scored on a fielder’s choice. 5-2 Irrationals.

Bottom of the 9th Propbronze was on cemetery hill for the Irrationals. He walked Demontraveller to dig himself into a hellhole to start the inning. With one away Patchbar doubled and there were racers on sockem and hurt. Lakedeer singled though shirt and it was 5-3 Irrationals. Two on and the tying run at the pie plate. Orc Deathsmiter the leading HR leader (17) of the Hysterikan League swung his club menacingly with Dark Elf Pearlchaos the HL’s leading clubber (.389) kneeling on the all-hands-on-deck circle. The perfect fixings for a comeback!

Reliever Propbonze with his stellar IL 0.52 ERA had his feet to the coals. With a 2-1 count, Deathsmiter went down swinging. Two out. Pearlchaos had another 2-1 count himself before mightily swinging and dribbling a groundhog right to Propbronze who swung it to fist base and the game was over.

The Irrationals won the first Falling Star Game 5-3! IL Mistwood was the winner, IL Propbronze got the save, and HL Bladeshaman was the loser.
